3.1 Transfer from BA and reviewed on 2-6-12 - Poured from bottle into pint glass while watching the super bowl. Appearance - A pale golden color with a white head. The head fades rather quickly leaving very little lacing. Smell - Sweeter malt of corn and a bit of caramel is most predominant at first. A bit later however, some hop aroma works its way in with some floral and more earthy aromas. Taste - A sweet corn maltiness first meets the tongue. The more subtle flavor then of comparable priced american lagers is quite pleasant and not overbearing. Toward the end of the taste, some of the hoppiness that is present in the nose comes into the taste as well. Really not too bad. Mouthfeel - Very average turbidity and carbonation level. Very drinkable, but nothing exceptional. Overall - A very easy drinking session beer. Nothing to be savored, but a good brew for football tailgating and/or watching the game. Somehow it just seems right for it.
2.9 Pours clear yellow with thin white head. Aromas of grass, light honey and some hop. Quite light and refreshing. Nothing exceptional here.
3.0 Draft at the brewery. Crisp grain and corn aroma and flavor. One of my local favorites. I go to the brewery every time i’m out that way
2.4 Decent alternative to all the other generic lagers out there in the world. A nicerfreshing lager with slight amber color, little to no head.
2.5 Bottle. Pours transparent gold with quickly dissipating off white head. Aroma of sweet malts. Taste of malts and not much else.
1.5 Skunky aroma. Very light and watery. Thin, barely there. On par with the macros, but so light it is not offensive.
3.0 A straightforward and refreshing sweet pale lager. Sweet aroma followed by a sweet, almost honey-like taste. Surprising considering no sugar is added to this preservative and additive-free beer. Only low marks IMHO for this beer is a somewhat thin mouthfeel and sticky aftertaste. In any case, definitely worth sampling. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
1.8 Bottle. Hard to explain why but I like this as a cheap lager option. Very sweet. Crisp. Nice and drinkable.
1.8 12 oz - Some depth, way beyond one-dimensional. I can see why those who like it like it.
2.3 Sampled at Saint Somewhere Bottle Share. Pours a clear yellow with a white head. Nose is sweetness, bread, grassy hops, and some light yeast. Flavor is similar- bread, sweet, and grassy hops with lager flavor. Thin in palate and a clean finish.
2.8 Bottle:   Hazy straw, thin sudsy white head, sparce lacing.   Sweet grassy nose, slight corn meal but not too bad.   Sweet grass and straw up front, fairly clean, a little dry.   This is better than most I have had, and one that would be easy to drink.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Nothing really off about this one, simply a sweet grassy lager that I can tolerate, that doesnt seem to have any off flavors.   Pretty boring, but not bad.
1.7 Bottle. Golden pour with very light head. Light carbonation. Odd taste and aftertaste. Thank god it was free.
2.2 Pours a clear pale yellow with a very thin, wispy white head. Aroma has some grass, straw...malty sweetness. Flavor is sweet and malty...light caramel, butter, and grass. Mouthfeel is medium/full and the finish is grass/straw.
3.0 Bottle. Pours clear golden thin white head. Aroma of sweet bread and grass. Taste is medium sweet. Medium-light body, sticky texture, above average carbonation. Pretty decent lager overall.
2.2 Can 11/5/12. Relatively sweet all around and far too much to be sessionable.... let alone enjoyable. Extremely High sharp carbonation.
3.4 Catch up rating from notes, 2012: Case picked up at brewery while rolling through Northern PA. Brewery tour also pulls one of the line for you prior to capping and labelling. How's that for fresh? Pale golden, but clear, foamy head sticks around for a bit. Aroma is sweet malts, but very fresh and crisp. Taste is also kind of sweet, big on the grainy flavor, hint of hops finishes it. That case disappeared fast, there are benefits to being super fresh.
2.7 12 oz can. Pale lager, light, thin head. Nothing offensiveness, kind of like water that is carbonated mildly. Not skunky or musty which is a plus.
2.2 Pours pale yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is grass and some very light citrus. Taste is sweet with a bitter finish. Light bodied with high carbonation and a crisp finish. Fresh from the brewery as it was dated less then 5 days old.
2.7 Pours a pale yellow color. Smell is skunky, could be the green bottle. Taste is crisp, malts and grains, slightly sweet. Overall a pretty standard pale lager.
1.5 Bottle. At a Reverend Horton Heat concert. For an "unadulterated freshness" this beer sure smells like cat piss. Thankfully, the taste was a little better, a basic american domestic with a bitter finish. Bleh.
2.2 For an adjunct lager, this is pretty good. Miles and away better than the big three. Brewed with all natural ingredients and actually tastes like beer instead of water.
2.4 From the 120z bottle at Empire Palace in Pittsburgh. A small and somewhat sentimental cult following has developed around this beer likely due to its marketing as a natural beverage made with wholesome ingredients. Poured into a glass apart from the famous green bottle it looks pasty and thin, and the flavors and taste deliver about the same. Higher levels of sweetness are also very recognizable. Not sure if it’s still true, but you used to be able to visit the brewery and drink from the tap off a chained metal mug. Sure hope they still have that freebie running.
1.6 Possibly the worst beer made in Pennsylvania today. Pours so clear from tap you’d swear it was water. No aroma to speak of. Tastes like corn era drainpour. Has a slightly astringent finish which makes no sense since it doesn’t taste like anything.
3.4 Straub is advertised as no additional additives or preservatives. Always on the fresh side. The beer is made only 2 hours from Pittsburgh. Crisp, clean, light and refreshing taste. There is some what, rice, and corn flakes. The taste has some other enjoyable notes of oats and other grains.. Sweet flavor in the finish. Very enjoyable for the summer. Again, affordable local beer.
1.4 Sadly micro brew and craft brew aren’t the same thing. This is a small companies version of bud light as far as I can tell. No nose whatsoever, looks like fizzy yellow beer. Little taste or palate to speak of. The numbers aren’t all "1" because it the lowest scores (in my mind) are reserved for things that taste BAD. This didn’t taste bad, it didn’t taste like anything.
2.8 Clear yellow color with a medium white head. Lot of carbonation. The flavor was kind of watered down with a slight grassy finish. Overall, not too bad.
2.6 12 oz can. Pours a light yellow with a white head and nice CO2 release. Aroma is like other pale lagers. Taste is mellow and balanced. Great session beer for those hot days.
1.6 A very typical pale lager. All grains and a weak taste. The plus is that it isn’t skunky. Definitely drinkable, but not very complex.
2.2 12 oz can. A nice grainy pale malt aroma, you will note a hint of hops. Watery a bit, but refreshing. A pale golden color - kinda looks like Coors in the glass,
2.8 12oz green bottle from zathrus--thanks Jeff. Bottled 06/20/10. Sweet malt and grain nose with some paper oxidation. Clear golden with a 1/2 finger white head, typical pale lager retention--low. Flavor is grainy with some sweet malt again, not really getting the paper oxidation as much. Finishes clean with scant bitterness. Light to moderate carbonation, light body. Decent pale lager.
