Stroh's

Stroh's

A full-bodied American lager unlike most, Stroh’s beer sports a craft brew pedigree. Enriched with hop varieties usually found only in craft brews, Stroh’s lager offers a distinct and distinguished taste with a preponderance of Cascade and Willamette hops from the great Northwest. Pungent and pleasing, Stroh’s stands apart from the usual lager taste profile in flavor, but not in alcohol.

2.5 Bottle, Ann Arbor, MI via Plum Market. Pale yellow. Sweet pepper aroma. Subdued honey spice flavour, corn and more sweetness in the finish. I think it’s one of the better cheap ones.
1.9 One of the better cheap can beers. When you have to rough it though this is the way to do it.
1.9 Rating from distant memory. Drank plenty in Ann Arbor as a poor student since they came in 30 packs.
2.8 Well, Pabst BC owns Stroh’s, but Strph’s is better tasting than PBR, in my opinion, and costs a few dollars less than PBR, for a 12pk. Also, it beats any of the BMC beers.
0.8 Terrible stuff. But not more terrible than wierque. Drank this to keep myself awake during a boring dive safety video in Utila, Honduras. The local Honduran lager is better than this by a long shot, and that’s not saying a lot. Can.
3.8 I’m not going to rate this beer like I would for a microbrew. This beer is simply not in the same category as those beers. Its simple and its cheap. It tastes like a classic American Lager and it is very light. Overall I enjoy Stroh’s and I regularly drink the beer at bars and at home.
1.5 12oz can poured into a shaker. Pours a clear gold with minimal head. Aroma is sweet with corn and grains. Taste is similar. Some wet cardboard in the finish. Light bodied with a thin, watery texture. Fizzy carbonation and not much of a finish. Meh, not the worst I’ve had.
1.2 Can: Offered one by a friend. Sure, why not. Celebrating another fantastic Michigan Wolverines loss with a beer just as shitty as their head coach & athletic director. Pale straw-yellow, crackling & wispy white "head", gone in moments. Grainy smell, metallic, hard water, old, spent hops. Strange, corny sweetness. Metallic DMS flavor. Stale hops, stale yeast. Astringent, sharp & cutting mouth feel. As expected, this beer sucks. What am I doing with my life?
2.7 12oz can pours bright yellow with big white head that quickly disappears. Lots of carbonation. The aroma malt. The flavor is sweet and mildly malty. Not much else going on. Not drastically bad for a slick tasting malty beverage.
0.5 How is it possible for one brewer to make so many bad beer-like beverages? Who drinks this stuff anyway?
1.6 I remember this from back in the day but hadn’t had one in a LONG time til the other day. Not turrible. Not a masterpiece. It’s almost nostalgic for me, so it probably tastes better than it really was. Not just pee water. Definitley the classic "beery" smell and taste of my youth
2.5 Alight look, this beer isn’t trying to change the world here. It’s the BEST cheap beer you will ever drink. It’s actually not bad at all despite what anyone says. I would take this over a lot of the trendy beers right now. You can get a lot of beer for a small price. It’s the perfect cheap beer. It has all the weird flavors and smells but it works and works gloriously. I love Strohs, too bad it’s hard to find. If you stumble across it get it and don’t be damn snob.
1.6 What my dad and grandpa grew up on. Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a light yellow color with a quarter finger of white foamy head that died within seconds. Carbonation was rising at a pace that just seemed like it wanted to scream right on out of the glass. The smell, well, that left a lot to be desired. Sweetened cereal? The taste was the same as the smell. On the palate, this sat extremely light and came across extremely smooth and simple. Overall, its hard to bust on a beer that my relatives drank back in the day but for me, I can’t really see myself having this again. I know better pale lagers out there if I want one.
1.5 If its made from Pabst, you know its good. Not a great flavor but good for getting drunk if you need a PBR upgrade.
1.5 Nice can, but not that great of a beer. I bought it because it was cheap and I planned on getting drunk and its doing a great job for that.
3.0 Can or bottle. Been drinking this since high school, still my favorite lawnmower beer. Go ahead make fun of me, I can take it.
3.9 As a non-craft domestic lager this beer is in the top rank, with a nice yeasty flavor and excellent finish. It is no fluke that Consumer Reports considered this the best domestic beer several years ago, calling it "full bodied and complex for a regular beer... with "floral, fruity hop notes." Clearly they had some beer connoisseurs on their rating panel who appropriately evaluated Stroh’s against other beers in its price range, where it is a stand-out!
2.5 Can. Pours a straw color with a fair head and not much lacing. Aroma of mild citrus light malt sweetness and grain. taste of light malt sweetness, bit of citrus and grain. Mild bitterness and a clean finish. light body, clean and refreshing. Good as a lawnmower beer or a BBQ. Better than expected.
2.2 I think I’m feeling generous today cause this isn’t nearly as terrible as I was expecting. I’m not big at all on pale lagers but this seems to be pretty close to par. Has a beer smell to it & a fairly balanced beer like taste. Can’t say that I’m a fan but I’m not dumping this either!
3.7 For a macro brew it’s one of the best. Fuller in body and flavor than most and much more complex in flavor. If you’re in the mood for a macro brew find a six-pack of bottles to try; significantly better than in cans.
0.5 This beer may be the worst I’ve ever had. It’s not good for any time or occasion. Stroh’s is good for pranks that make people vomit and that’s about it.
5.0 Just because a beer doesn’t taste as strong as toasted toenails doesn’t mean it’s not good. Very tasty beer that is very smooth to drink.
2.4 GABF 2013. Pours a clear yellow appearance with a small white head. Corny, vanilla, a touch spicy hoppy, grassy aroma. Not all the offensive though a bit watery, corn, lightly toasted cracker flavor. I had to push through all the fuckwads begging for PBR @ GABF to get this rate and probably ended up looking like a fuckwad myself sipping and smelling this masterpiece.
1.0 Can. Faint sweet malt aroma. Yellow with small white head. Watered down malt flavor... almost no flavor. Light watery body, average carbonation.
2.6 Being a in Detroit a felt it fitting to have a can of Stroh’s. Haven’t seen Stroh’s on the East Coast in years. Drink it quickly from an iced cold can and it will be fine. Slight malt sweetness and lil’ bitterness at the end. Better than I expected. Close out beer at Slows BQ.
0.5 Can: found it in Roatan. Taste is tasteless, good for the heat but so is water. Food Pairing: Anything, it’s tasteless.
1.6 From a bottle. Corny. Medium bodied. Lightly roasred malt flavor. Inoffensive decent cheap brew.
1.7 bottle. Tastes like watery beer. For a mass market beer, this isn’t that bad, but thank goodness for craft beer.
2.9 Aroma is yeast, mild sweetness and grainy/beery. The flavor is mild sweetness, very grainy/beery and a hint of hops in the finish.
2.2 Pale, clear gold with a large, white head. Aroma is malt, grain.... Flavour is a soft grain malt, Slight hops, earthy bitter. Light and mild. Truly not bad.
