Struise Black Damnation IV - Coffee Club

Struise Black Damnation IV - Coffee Club

The Black Damnation series is a dark twist of Urban’s mind. His idea is to realize a dozen beers with the use of Black Albert, and over a period of two years, that are as black as hell, filthy rich in the nose and with a massive taste.

Black Damnation IV was made with Black Albert that aged for 6 months on very old rum barrels.

3.8 Aroma of coffee, chocolate, dark malt and grass. Taste of alcohol, coffee, chocolate, licorice and rum. Good bitterness that fills the whole mouth for an eternity. Good beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
3.9 Tasted as Struise Black Damnation IV - Coffee Club (Aged for 2 years in Caribbean Rum barrels). Black color, minimal brown head. Aromas of coffee, licorice, molasses, roasted malt, rum and chocolate. Taste of coffee, roasted malt, alcohol, licorice, chocolate and slight rum.
Torr fin avslutning.
3.4 330ml bottle. Pitch black color. Coffee, alcohol, green beans, thick, sweet, roast in aroma/taste.
3.7 330ml bottle. Pours jet black with a small head. Aroma is peppery rum, cola and brown sugar. Taste has spiced rum to start, with peppery roast and cola.
2.2 330ml bottle (Pothouse, Tallinn) as "Black Damnation 04" (5:3:4:2:8=2.2) "2018" vintage. Black, next to no head. Marinated chilli pod aroma. Dead palate, heavy. Stale roasty taste, nasty beaniness. Total mess.
2.9 Taster at home courtesy of Sander, big thanks. black color, small coffee colored head. smells coffee, spices, peppery, light chili, some soy sauce, nice smell. full body, no carbonation. tastes peppery, medical, light vanilla, rubbery, some jammy notes once it warms, some coffee, some spices. finishes lightly sweet with notes of jam, some spices and coffee notes. yeah, not very good, actually a tad better then the Mocha Bomb I had the other day. Not the kind of Imp Stout I want to drink in 2021. Gets a few jammy notes, that make this a bit better (towards the finish), but up front its bad.
3.7 Bottle, 330 ml shared with Max, Miro B and kajser27. Dark brown with beige head. Chocolate, coffee, sweetish, bitter finish. Alcohol in finish. Warming. Bit thin for abv. Expected something more thick from BD series.
4.3 Bottle 0,33 ltr: Opaque black coloured brew with an slightly burn due the alcohol with an heavy bitter taste, also some sweetness coming through. Hints of roasted malts, caramel, coffee, sweetsour berries, wood, rum and vanilla.
4.4 33cl bottle from Struise Shop. Vintage 2018, bottled 11/2020, aged 2yrs on Carribean rum barrels. Cloudy black, stable, foamy, beige head. Powerful aroma of tobacco, coffee roast, cold espresso, muscovado, dark fudge, dried fig, plum, leather, beef stock, brown rum. Taste has sweet fig, plum & pear, coated in a malty profile of fudge and muscovado sugar; bitter coffee & toast in the middle along a dry, earthy beef stock-like umami note. Dry, peppery hoppy finish, tobacco hint, creamy espresso with a teaspoon of brown sugar, and boozy brown rum alcohol that is slightly woody. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Powerful and expressive, a real delight.
4.2 Ciemnobrunatne praktycznie czarne nieprzezroczyste piwo z solidną pianą która opadając trochę zdobi szkło. Aromat czekoladowych pralinek, kawy, czekoladowych deserów polanych rumem.
4.3 A 330ml bottle, Vintage 2018, bottled on 26th November 2020, with a best before date of bottled date +5 years. Poured into a De Struise Black Damnation tasting glass. It poured black in colour with a half finger beige head that dissipated fairly quickly to a ring around the glass, while leaving some lacing. Aromas roasty, coffee, neapolitan ice cream blend, chocolate, rum, brown sugar. Tastes moderately sweet, lightly boozy, rum, roasty, coffee, chocolate, oak, molasses, brown sugar, with vanilla notes. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, not a fan of rum, but this worked well with enjoyable aromas and flavours.
5.0 Best stout
4.3 A 33 cl bottle of 2018 vintage that appears to have been bottled on Nov. 25, 2020. Unsure of that record keeping but whatever. My Delirium snifter is down from the cabinet to catch this brew. The view is a deep dark brown with a medium tan colored, thin covering of foam. I will say that the nose is exquisite, strawberry, chocolate and booze, all favorites of mine. The taste follows that line, chocolate, raspberries and strawberries, hay, a hint of coffee, chewy toffee and dark bread. The 13% alcohol eludes me, that is all right, I bet it catches up later. A very fine beer, Struise wields its authority with imperial stouts alongside its Belgian ales.
4.1 Botella de 33 cl. Fecha de embotellado 26/11/20. Vintage 2018. Aroma a uvas pasas, ciruelas, madera, ron. Sabor a madera, ron, café, cacao, ciruelas, azúcar moreno.
3.9 33cl vintage 2018, bottled 25/11/2020. Pours pitch black with beige head, little carbonation. Nose and palate on coffee, mokka and a little alcohol sweetness. The rum BA is very subtle.Very nice but not the bomb I was expecting, maybe it should age a bit longer.
4.0 Copenhagen 9/3 2021. 33 cl bottle from Den Belgiske Ølbutik, Jyllingevej, Vanløse. Yellow, sinister skull on the label which looks like some Death Metal record cover from the nineties. Pours opaque, dark brown with s small beige head. A bit bubbly. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing. Aroma is intense with a dark, sweet and boozy odor mingling with a harsh bitter scent.Brown sugar, caramel, hints of licorice. Dark alcohol. Sweet rum. A bit of sour grains. Light carbonation. Medium thick, soft, smooth, lightly tingling texture. Flavor is intense and very much on the sweet side. Strong sweetness followed by a moderate sourish bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a bitter licorice undertone. Finish is sweet with a boozy streak. Potent, sweet boozer with a nice touch of rum.
3.4 330ml bottle from Struise online shop. Dark brown. Aroma of rum, dark sugar and dried fruit. This beer is super balanced. Almost too balanced. It’s nice and super easy drinking, but it could pass you by. It tastes sessionable and it lacks any easily defined flavour, despite being very, very drinkable and pleasant.
4.5 Botella de @StruiseShop, Online. 30/01/2021. Color negro opaco corona de espuma beige, aromas tostados, café, madera, sabor tostados, café, Ron, madera, cuerpo sedoso. Rica.
4.3 33cl bottle (bottled 26/11/2020) from Etre Gourmet web shop. F: thin, tanned, diminishing to thin film. C: black, opaque. A: rich dark malts, chocolate, cocoa, bit vinous, woody, rum touch, dark dried fruits, bit coffee. T: full malty base, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, rum, woody, dried plums, bit caramel, vanilla touch, very smooth mouthfeel, soft if any carbonation, really great beer as I expected.
4.3 33cl bottle at home. Pitch black, beautiful creamy thick beige head that's nicely stable. Coffee and dark chocolate upfront, vanilla, leather, faint rum, sweetish and a tat spicy, medium bitter. Nice coffee chocolate linger. Good body, soft mouthfeel and carbonation.
4.1 Kruidige caramelsmaak. Plakt goed na zoals siroop. Heel veel smaak en aroma. Toppertje in z'n klasse.
Prost! 8/4/7/4/11
4.0 2010 bottle courtesy of Koelschtrinker. Green pepper aroma, low adjunct influence, some rum barrel and vanilla, but rather soft on an otherwise strong and bold stout. Might be a tad too old for the adjuncts.
3.9 75cl bottle (2012) @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Sep 19, brought by me. Pours dark, literally jumps out the bottle, large tan head. Not a huge coffee presence. Largely dark malts, smooth and balanced, dark chocolate, soft caramel, gentle roast. Has held up remarkably well, no oxidisation at all, subtle rum, subtle liquorice, very nicely balanced. A joy.
3.0 29.05.2019, 0,33l bottle (best before 03.2015) shared @ BBGTC tasting: Nice light brown bubbly-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry sour-ish roasted, espresso, toast, soil, alcohol, bark, minerals, chocolate pudding, caramel, dark malts, dark sugar. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish mineraly, soil, alcohol, bark, dark sugar, dark malts, chocolate, paper, fruit stones, grass, sour coffee. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly watery and harsh sour-ish boozy mouthfeel. Nice aroma...
