4.4 Barwa brązowa, klarowna. Piana w kolorze ecru, wysoka, jednak o krótkim czasie redukcji. Alkohol idealnie ukryty. Wysycenie średnie. Ciało wysokie. Tekstura bardzo gładka, miękka. Posmak długi karmelowy, słodowy ze sporą dawką Bourbon'u.
4.4 Bottled July 12th 2016. It pours a light brown with reddish hues and a long lasting head of foam. The smell is sweet with what I reckon is candi sugar. Oak and Bourbon are there in spades. Fantastic nose. Sweet brown sugar/candi sugar taste, Bourbon and oak compliment it so nicely. No bitterness that I can detect and the ample abv is well hidden. Close to full bodied with medium carbonation. There's definitely some oxidation going on but to my palate, it does no harm. Wonderful!
4.4 Pours a clear, deep mahogany coloration with a reddish tint and a small, frothy head. Smells quite intoxicating of bready, caramel malt, toffee, brown sugar and red/dark fruit with notes of cherry, raisin, plum and fig, as well as some tannic oak and hints of vanilla and honey. Taste is an excellent balance of bready, caramel malt , toffee brown sugar, wildflower honey and red, dark and estery fruit, with notes of cherry, raisin, plum, fig, red apple and gooseberry, as well as some estery spice with notes of clove and black pepper and tannic and earthy barrel accents, with just a hint of vanilla coming through as well. Finishes with a light sweetness and tannic bitterness, with some red, dark and estery fruit and barrel accents lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth, full mouthfeel with a rich body and low carbonation. This is a marvellous, quite rich and complex brew that is incredibly well-balanced, never feeling too sweet or boozy while displaying an impressive array of red, dark and estery fruit and barrel notes. An incredible beer that first enchants you with its intoxicating, sweet and fruity aroma and then envelops you in its intricate flavour complexity of sweet, fruity, slightly spicy and bitter, tannic and earthy notes that all intermingle quite harmoniously without anything standing out too much or taking away from each other. I mean, god damn, I'm not even a huge fan of the style, but this really blew me away with its fantastic complexity and balance. I just wish that I had a fireplace to sip this by to be able to truly do justice to it.
4.2 33cl bottle, thanks JefVerstraete! Euro Swap. Vintage 2012, bottle on 12/07/2016. Pours brown, unclear with a thin white head. Sweet dried fruits, like figs and plums. Malty sweet with warming alcohol. Full bodied, complex. Oak, mild vinous notes, port notes. Long long finish. Excellent.
4.4 The side of the bottle reads Vintage 2012, Number 12. Randomly found this 8 year old bottle at my local liquor store. I had no idea what I was getting into but I picked it up because I will always give Struise a chance. I didn’t know it was a 2012 or the style, until just now. Surprisingly fluffy top over a brownish swampy body. Very murky. The head is ample for an 8 year old brew but diminishes to a thin layer of cappuccino-like cream. Smells wonderful. Very Struise. Rich, tobacco-y, vanilla, layers of custard and sweet spices. Nutmeg, coriander, clove, licorice, bubble gum. Not far from a Pannepot. I feel like I’m eating a thick slice of rye bread with butter and jam. Boozy but in all the right ways — not hot. Dark, jammy fruit: we’re talking blackberries, cherries, cassis, prunes. The mouthfeel is just pure Struise, unctuous, velvety, with a subtle fizz and punch of bourbon at the end. This beer is what the kids would call thicc. It fills your cheeks with a roasted, smoky, custardy vapor, and coats your tongue without being cloying. A long black currant aftertaste, with the classic Belgian spiciness. Beautiful.
4.0 Solid powerful and complex beer Amber in the glass with a small head Nice intensity in the aroma Balanced sweetness for a beer like this Also an ok carbonation level Fruity, vinous, barrel and toffee in the flavor Not to much alcohol coming up either [Bottle from Grima]
3.8 Dark fruits, sherry followed by warm sweet cherries. Strong alcohol clear but not overwhelming. Could have longer depth.
4.1 Amber color with off-white head. Aroma has ripe fruits, grapes, bourbon, chocolate, vanilla and sweet spicy notes. Taste is malty sweet with long sweet and somewhat bitter aftertaste. Flavors of raisins, alcohol warmth, red wine, bourbon and spices.
4.1 Appearance: Pours hazy amber with creamy off-white head, no lacing. 4/5 Aroma: Ripe plum, cherry, raisin, malt, nutmeg, clove, vanilla, bread dough, toffee and brown sugar. 8/10 Taste: Ripe dark fruits and malt with hints of coffee and chocolate. Moderate sweetness with fully integrated oak, well balanced. Sweet fruity malty oaky finish. 8/10 Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied, moderate carbonation, oily and smooth. 5/5 Overall No significant sign of St-Emilion wine barrels, however it seems a little tannic on palate, while some charaters of merlot (eg. cherry) could be found. Nice stuff. 16/20

3.6 Una buena belgorrada. Muchos toques a caramelo y frutas secas.
4.3 16 February 2020. At In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst. Cheers to Anke & Pieter! Vintage 2012. Pours clear dark amber with a lasting, very thin, frothy, off-white head. Intense aroma of cake, candied orange, plum, raisin, prune, port wine, bourbon, ripe pear, toffee, date jam, bit oxidized (in a nice, sherry kind of way). Taste has very sweet candied dates, prune & raisin on a thick cake-like, slightly caramelly maltiness with a herbal bitter note, a bit woody, warming up already. Dryish, herbal, bit peppery hoppy finish, lingering candied fruitiness, cake & brioche, woody along with a strong dash of bourbon & port alcohol. Medium body, oily-syrupy texture, fizzy carbonation. Massive Ale, simply delicious.
4.2 Bottle. Brown body with a minimal off-white head. Sour aroma, some nutty and wine aromas as well. Sweet taste, lots of caramel, toffee, strong prune notes, strong plum and fig finish! Well hidden alcohol. Amazing beer.
3.5 Brown with a thin head. Smell of red wine and whiskey malts. Same in taste with an additional chocolate ending.
4.0 Bottle from the Craft Beer Cellar Belmont. Dark chestnut in color with a thin off white head that dissipates quickly. Rich dark and burnt brown sugary fruity with bits of jam and oaken vanilla. Very complex and tasty sipper.
4.2 Copper colour, big white head, quickly dissapearing. Intensive and complex aroma of red fruits, vanilla, caramel, spices, red wine, hard candies. Taste of red fruits, red wine, caramel, vanilla, spices, hard candies, fruity licorice. Typical Belgian accents. Sweet. Low bitterness, high carbonation. Alcoholic ending. Very very nice one
3.9 Bevuta in bottiglia. Birra rossa belga alta gradazione invecchiata in botte. Molto buona.
4.5 From the 330 ml bottle that is dated 12/07/2016. Ruby red pour underneath a quick lived light tan or off-white head. Decent clarity. I love the dark fruity aroma, the yeast, and the barrel. Toasted bread too. Slight booze. Very inviting. The mouthfeel is bold and smooth. The taste is sweet with a kind of butterscotch character infiltrating the experience. The dark fruity characters are also evident here and the finish is warming. A little boozy though. Nevertheless, this is a dynamite Quad.
4.3 Mahogany with a short lived off white head. Complex aroma with touches of spice. Flavour of rich malt, caramel and wine and bourbon notes. Somewhat sweet, but nice soft mouthfeel. Warming alcohol throughout. Excellent.
4.0 330ml bottle. Pours deep amber, pillowy head which drops quickly but leaves behind an oil slick of head that persists all the way through. First impression on the nose is a vibrant funk, white wine and Christmas pudding. Flavours of plum and date, red wine and caramel, rich whiskey vapours as it warms finishing with a touch of coffee bitterness. Incredible balance, could equally be quaffed or sipped and savoured.
3.8 330 ml bottle to snifter. Looks good; a lightly translucent brown with a slight orange tint to it and off-white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells of Belgian yeast, dark fruit, oak, red wine, and a touch of vanilla. Tastes like it smells with a mildly warming and pleasantly vinous medium full-bodied mouthfeel. Tasty.
4.0 First impression of red wine, followed by loads of fruits, fruity alcohol, soft whiskey, light bitterness, somewhat oily, light sticky sweetness even. Astringent but finishes a little too syrupy sweet for my taste. MF good thanks to it's low carbonation though this might strengthen the sweet taste as well... I like it, it's comparable to a barley wine I think, a good one too, though it lacks a bit of the complexity I have come to expect from this brewery's barrel aging experiments.
4.0 330ml bottle served in a chalice glass. Pours a slightly hazy amber color forming a small tan head with ow retention that leaves no lacings in the glass. Sweet nose. Strong notes of caramel and oak. Dry dark fruits: plums, raisins and dates. Grapes, white wine and bourbon. Sweet upfront taste. Strong notes of caramel and oak. Dry dark fruits: plums, raisins and dates. Grapes, white wine and bourbon. Light bitterness. Citrus hops. Full body. Medium to low carbonation. Caramel and dark dry fruits in the aftertaste. Good drinkability. Delicious BA Quad.
3.7 Amber/red, translucent. Dirty brownish white head, three fingers, good retention. Lots of carbonation visually. Texture between oily and creamy with considerable fizz that lasts almost till the end. Aroma is oxidation, wine, dried fruits like raisins and prune, ripe fruits, caramel, brown sugar, bourbon. Hint of acidity. Taste is oxidation, wine, vanilla from the bourbon, bourbon, caramel, brown sugar, dried fruits like raisins and prunes, ripe fruits like figs and pear. Sweet with a hint of acidity. Bittersweet finish with a bit of alcohol. Wine and bourbon in aftertaste. Complex and interesting but far from being amazing or something like that.
