Struise Tsjeeses

Struise Tsjeeses

Bottle conditioned.

Ingredients: Barley malt, hops, cane sugar, yeast and spices.

Strong blond winterbeer with fluffy white head which has been lagered for 8 months on different stonefruits. Tsjeeses was born out of a 5 year brew experience regarding x-mas beer without being capable of finding a suitable name up to now. With the name came a face, a caricature actually, that was drawn on the day Urbain, our brew master and master brewer, drank too many Tsjeeses’s. Every time he drinks one, he says "Tsjeeses, what a beer". Therefore the name is more an expression of stupefaction than a curse.
We have had already many discussions around the pronounciation of "Tsjeeses". Very close would be that you say "cheeses" or cheese in plural.

3.7 prachtige dikke zware quad van struisse. zoet, pittig, zwaar, lekker. heerlijk zelfs.
3.9 33cl bottle. BBD: 16-11-2016. Batch: 2722090610 Brown color with a minimal light beige head with short retention. Aroma has notes of candy sugar, toasted malts, ripe fruit and molasses. Flavro is sweet, no cloying, good maltiness, caramelish and molasses notes. Warm final, no alcohol presence that is hidded by caramelish notes. One excelent beer brewed by Struise...
3.7 33cl @ bottle.
3.0 Aged, but only decent, lambic taste, a little bit sour and bitter. Something bad in the taste, or aftertaste actually. Drunk it version 2012 in 2017 december, closed to expire date.
3.7 2015 bottle. Light gushing after opening. Pours dark amber with quite large tan head. Aroma of caramel, spices, orange, apricot, toffee, a hint of pear. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter, of caramel, spices, ginger, orange, apricot, peach, brown sugar, with notes of raisins, herbs. Spices and fruits in the finish. Medium to full body, average carbonation. Very complex and tasty Christmas beer.
3.6 A bottle from l'Apero. Aroma: malt, soya sauce. Appearance: murky milk chocolate, tan lacing. Palate: medium bodied and slick, soft carbonation, very boozy. Taste: medium bitter, some vanilla, lacks finesse.
4.1 Bottle from Dranken Geers. Christmas beer evening; shared with Anke! Labeled '2015'. Pours hazy dark orange with a small, off-white head. The complex aroma contains orange & mandarin, peach or plum, some vanilla, sugar, hops & herbs. It tastes medium fruity sweet and light to medium hoppy bitter; ending dry, spicy and even very light sour with lingering fruity touches. Of course, some pleasant, warming alcohol. Full body, slick/oily texture, soft carbonation. Great stuff, but being a heathen, I can't say that I would always prefer this to a more regular winter beer.
2.7 Bottle from supermarket. A powerful beer to knock your socks off before Christmas lunch. A powerful ale that feels like a barley wine... Sweet and malty.
3.9 0.33 l bottle from 'Dranken Geers', 2015 vintage, best before July 2020, cellared for more than a year. Minimally hazy, ruby with a thin, frothy, almost stable, light beige head. Sweetish-malty, quite fruity and slightly yeasty-spicy aroma of raisins, figs, strawberry jam and some caramel. Quite sweet, malty, fruity and slightly yeasty-spicy taste of figs, raisins, plums, strawberry jam, some caramel and a touch of alcohol, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, slightly yeasty-spicy, rather warming and a bit boozy finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy and quite effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Warming and saturating BSA, quite on the fruity side, a bit too boozy maybe, but overall a tasty and pleasant Christmas beer.
4.3 2015 bottle - Pours amber with a small off-white head. The aroma is of malt, cherries, and yeast. The flavor is sweet and malty with Belgian yeast, toffee, spices, and tasty dark fruit. Cherries and figs come to mind. It's dangerously drinkable with the 10% abv well hidden. This is a delicious beer.
Weinig aroma. Smaak is houtig en alcohol achtig. Nasmaak is pittig
3.5 11.2floz bottle, 2015 release (BBD: 08.07.2020), large snifter glass. A limited amount of head rests atop a dark amber body. Rancid fruit and caramel aromas make way for a sweet jam flavor. Full in body, and meant for sippin'.
3.8 Small frothy offwhite head. Fair lacing. Mostly diminishing. Murky thick bronze body. Aroma: moderate malty, raisin, ruby port, honey, nutmeg, alcohol. Initial flavor: moderate sweet. Final flavor: light sweet and moderate bitter; long duration. Palate: medium body, watery/oily texture, medium carbonation, moderate alcoholic finish. AROMA FIGO. Marriage of fruity, spicy and alcohol flavors supported by a soft malt character. Esters are reminiscent of pears, oranges or apples. Low to moderately low phenols are peppery in character. A low to moderate spicy hop character is often present. Alcohols are soft and spicy, and are low-to-moderate in intensity.
3.0 Bottle from Smak Piwa, Wałbrzych. Beer served in 9°C, Goblet Glass. Pours dark amber, little to no head. Aroma is nutty, caramel, dark dry fruits, belgian yeast, spices. Taste is sweet, smoked like malt, spices, brownies, yeasty, warming up, but alcohol is very well hidden.
3.7 11.2oz bottle. 2015. Pours reddish with a small white head. Aroma is raisins, spice, some toffee, and light plum. Taste is toffee, raisins, light berries, some toast, some sugar, yeast, and spice. Earthy yeast and an odd spiciness in the finish. Moderate bitterness, although it becomes more present as the beer warms. Light booziness on the tongue. Malty and bittersweet with just enough hop presence. Medium-full body. Soft carbonation. Oily mouthfeel.
3.8 Pours dark gold or light copper. Sweet Belgian candy sugar aroma. Bit of figs, dried fruits, slight hops and wax. Lot’s going on. Tastes sweet, bitterness is strong, spicy and candy sugary. Lingering slight hop tingle. Good stuff.
3.8 Hazy dirty caramel, sour, dark fruit, tons of cherries and apricot. Malty. Smooth. Warming. Good winter warmer.
3.6 I drank the 2015 version on the begging of 2017 year. Brown-ish hazy color, small white head, soft carbonation. Aroma is sweet toffee with slight dried fruit traces.
4.0 On tap at Struise Brouwers @ The Old School pours out amber copper color topped with a small sand head. Nose is very nice pit fruit raisins light roast caramel toffee sweetness. Taste is more of the nice pit fruit rich malts and a nice sweet and booze heat combo.
3.9 330ml bottle 2015 vintage. Pours clear red-amber with fizzy head that quickly disappears and steady streams of cascading bubbles. Fairly sweet aromas of toffee, plums, raisins, herbs and spices, some alcohol. The taste has an initial toffee and toasty maltiness, some stone fruit fruitiness, earthy yeast character, then it really dries out nicely and finishes with a firm spicy and herbal hop bitterness. Noticeable but not overwhelming booziness and alcohol sweetness. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation, doesn’t drink as ’big’ as expected for a 10% ABV beer, but a good thing. Really good and, for me, much better than the barrel aged versions which come across somewhat muddy.
4.5 Bottle 2015 Xmas version. Pours hazy, dark amber. Smells of sweet caramels, raisins, overdone fruit, funkness. Tastes like heaven. Sweet caramels, toffe, sweet bread, riped fruit. Low carbonation with punch. Mellow bitterness. Extremely well done. Favourite. Highly, highly recommended. Excellent.
