Struiselensis

Struiselensis

This blonde and slight sour ale is the result of a research combining Brettanomyces Bruxellensis and Pediococus Cerivisae from Wyeast and some skills out of the Wild Woesten.

Special beer by Struise as a tribute to Lembeek brewers.

3.6 Bottle from bieresgourmet.be webshop. Pours a clear golden body with a medium white head. Nose is strong bretty horseblanket and grape peel tones, lemon zest, hay, hints of sweet green apples and red berries in the back. A bit like a lambic, but milder. Taste is muscat grapes, hay, barnyard funk, tart red berries and hints of farmhouse yeast, nutmeg and grains. Light body, medium to high fermentation. Nice and refreshing sour blonde from Struise.
3.4 Troebel bier met witte schuimkraag mooie aroma van fruit en renzige aanzet. Bitter zuur en zoet zijn in balans met een pittige bittere afdronk. ---Rated By the Belleketels
4.1 Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Sour aroma, citrus, straw, lemon peel, yoghurt and bretty funk. Sour flavour, citrus, lactic acid and light acetic acid. Sour finish, citrus and lemon peel. Not the most complex sour, but nicely layered and it aged well. (From 75cL bottle shared @ RBBSG II, Gent 2013. Batch one. From trade with Vincent (BelgBeerGeek) and opened on the spot to compare with the Bourbon BA Struiselensis. Thanks mate!)
3.6 33cl bottle. Unclear golden, thin white head. Apple, basement, fruity nectarine? aroma. Flavor has ripe apples, sourness, rhubarb like notes. Dry lasting finish. Tasty sour ale for sure.
3.2 Bottle. Yellow, with bottle sediment. Apple vinegarish, sour funky. Soft body. Light, acidic. Hay. Funk. Some overripe fruits. -- bb/wp8
3.5 10/VIII/13 - 75cl bottle @ RBBSG II, my place - BB: XI/12 (2013-752) Thanks to I think Tinus (?) for sharing the bottle! Little cloudy orange beer, no head, irregular bubbles. Aroma: some chloride, orange peel, bit chemical, rubbery. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very sour start, bit of vinegar, lemony, spicy, pepper. Aftertaste: lemony, sourish, some chloride, vinegar, very dry, grape skin, very dry white wine.
3.4 [bottle] Vinous white grape and apple juice aroma. Clear dark gold under white bubbles. Apple cider and white wine flavour that is very sour and with cherries and strawberries. Nice, watery finish with just a touch of vinegary pickle juice. High carbonation, light body, sour finish ends with clean water.
3.3 0,33l bottle @ Pikkulintu. Pours clear orange with a very low head. Aroma is sour malts and apples. Flavor is sour malts with some apples. Excellent.
3.9 750ml bottle if I remember correctly. Poured a pretty clear golden color without much of a head - wispy mostly. Aroma was some light funky tartness, touch of citrus. Flavor was nice funky tart notes. Crisp and easy to drink. Really liked it.
3.6 75 bottle, shared at Delirium Cafe with Mathieu87. APPEARANCE: clouded blond beer, small unstable white head. NOSE: citrus, faint brett, hops, fresh. TASTE: brett, not really sour though, fruity, not really that much taste.
3.4 Tuoksussa kuivaa omenasiideriä. Ei vaahtoa eikä kuplia. Kirkas. Maku hapan, kuiva shampanja, vastaavaa Bruxellensis hiivan makua kuin lambic oluessa. Hieno tribuutti.
3.0 Sampled from bottle @ RBBSG II. Hazy yellow to light orange color, small white head. Lightly sourish aroma. Taste is sourish as well. There’s not much more to it really. Basically it’s just another quite standard sourish beer...
4.2 Pours hazy orange with some white head. Aroma is sour, bretta, berries and cheese. Flavour is sour, berries and bretta.
3.5 Bottle:   Dirty straw, dudsy white head, dies quickly, leaving little lacing.   Sure looks like a Lambic of sorts.   Musty nose, tart, for some reason I get some muskat grapes.   Tart and dry on the tongue.   Brett seems a little on the light side, the Pedio seems a bit heaftier.   Backside is a little weak, simply tart and a little dry.   Its solid, but seemingly fairly plain.   Not as bright as I would have hoped, then again I did sit on it for a few years.   The more I sip this the drier it gets.   Good stuff, but nothing earth shattering.   Perhaps I waited too long?   Still very clean and enjoyable tho.
3.5 Bottle at Pikkulintu. Pours hazy orange with minimum head. Aroma pretty interesting sour and fruity. Good sour citrus and apple taste. Little like apple cider. Really refreshing. Really drinkable for a sour beer. Suitable for a warm sunny weather.
4.2 Pours clear pale yellow with a small head. Nose is lemon, vinegar, sour apple, floral. Taste is very sweet and then very sour. Not to complex. The mouthfeel is sticky and the body is medium with a long finish.
4.0 Bottle at kulmi . Smells sour , taste is sour , not to high carbo . Tastes like a real geuze . I also get like.. Cgerries? In this ? Good one
3.4 Bottle at tuulensuu, tampere. Bb 11/12. Cloudy orange color, small white head. Sour aroma, apple, citrus. Nice sour taste, apple and citrus also in taste, some sweetness. Quite short aftertaste. Easy and refreshing.
4.1 Bottle at home to celebrate rating #2500. It pours clear golden yellow with a bubbly white head. The nose is hay, floral (particularly chamomile), wheat, light spice, apple, sweet pear and farmyard. The taste is tart lemon, lime, mouth-puckering tartness, Granny Smith apple, white grape, sour pear, light acidity, hay, floral, with dry, tart finish. Medium body and fine, lively carbonation. Clean, crisp and deliciously sour. Quite straight-forward actually, but well executed and utterly drinkable.
4.1 Draught at Stockholm Beer and Whiskey Festival 2012. 2006 vintage. Hazy yellow liquid with huge white head. Aroma of funk, wheat, lemons, hops?! and wood. Very unique and complex aroma. Taste is dry and medium sour with notes of lemons, apples and funk. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Really great.
3.5 Bottle shared at Kulminator. Pours hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is funky, barnyard and tart fruit. Flavour is tart, medium to heavy sour.
3.6 Pours a hazy amber/tan color with a thin white head. Aroma is tart and sour with caramely sweet notes. Flavor is lemony/soury...still a faint caramel note...acidic with just a touch of cardboard. Mouthfeel is light and the finish is dry and tart and lingers with a lemony/caramely note.
3.5 Tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Pours hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is medium sour with apples, berries, brett, lemon notes. Taste is sour berries, green apples, bretty, grassy. Thin body, medium carbonation, dry finish. 110512
3.6 Bottle. It pours an almost clear body, golden in color and topped by a small, white head. Sourish, farmyard-ish aroma with some citrus. The same goes for the flavor, it’s sourish and barnyard-ish, with a faint lemon touch. Medium body, dry, finishing lemony and dry. Overall, a nice beer indeed, but in my opinion a bit one dimensional and weak. 110826
3.9 Bottle. Golden colour with a white head. aroma is berries, fruit, brett. Flavour is brett, yeast, fruit, sourness, vinegar, malt. Nice beer.
3.9 33 cl bottle @ Gastropub Tuulensuu, BBE 11/2012 Aroma is sour with earthy notes, apples and some vinegar. Feels like a very dry cider. Flavour is very sour with apples and earthy notes. Tart finish with vinegar. A mixture of oude lambic, dry cider and white wine. Very nice and refreshing!
4.0 33 cl bottle @ Gastropub Tuulensuu, Tampere. Originally rated on 20100219 (9+4+8+4+16) Pours clear golden colour with no head. Aroma of ripe fruits, grass, apple, pear and mild goose berry bush. Very nice sour ale. 3444
3.9 Pours like a cider with no head. Aroma apples, sour grapes. Like a very very dry cider. Not Bad.
