Summer Wine Diablo

Summer Wine Diablo

Cask, keg & bottle; Regular.

India Pale Ale

Diablo is our flagship IPA, loaded with US hop varieties, dominated by the ‘Citra’ variety. Big tropical flavours & aroma punctuate, mango, lychee & papaya fruits abound, with notes of resinous pine leading to a lasting bitterness. A devilishly good US West Coast inspired IPA.

3.6 Bottle. Mr. Pickle, Sheffield. One of those, "Have I really not rated this?" beers. Very hazy gold. Messy white head. Pink grapefruit and nectarine. Clean and fresh. Taste is zingy bitter. Pithy gear. Bit of a pronounced yeasty thing. Finishes long, pithy bitter. Very drinkable, if a little muted on the hoppage.
2.6 Bottle in red lion. Fairly tedious ipa, faintly chemically. Of little ongoing interest. Way behind the game.

2.6 Bottle. 6.0%. Best before 31.05.15. 10 cl. sample. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Decent lacing. Citrus hop aroma, sweet, with a sugary hint. Feels a bit flat though. Tart, fruity note as it warms. Flavour is hoppy, light citrus, and fruity. Dry finish, a bit tart. Lingering bitterness with a dry note. A bit too much carbonation. Overall not bad, but pretty forgettable; middle of the line. 01.05.15.

3.6 0.33l bottle. Not much of a head on this one. What came on the pour quickly fades into a white islandy and sidesticking filmy thing. The beer itself is golden orange and clouded. Smells nice. Fresh grassy hops, it’s slightly mealy in a way. Tones of fresh citrus fruits, orange zest and mild birch juices also detected. Yeah, I like the nose here. Tastes pretty darn nice as well. Freshly tropical we have lots of pineapple, citrus and passion fruit. Not mealy at all in the taste. It has a good oily feeling in the mouth and it’s just below average on the carbonation. Really refreshing and easy to enjoy this. Well hopped undoubtedly. Bitter orange zesty finish with grapefruit lingering in to the late hours. Nice! 18.07.2014
