Summit Maibock

Summit Maibock

Early German monks created “bock” beer as a hearty beverage that would help sustain them during their Lenten fasts. The first bock beers were dark, but soon came “blonder” styles such as maibock. Maibocks have a rich, malty, full flavor. And, since our first brewhouse was from Heimertingen in Bavaria, we’ve honored that heritage by giving the name to our first lager beer.“Bock,” by the way, is German for “male goat.” It doesn’t make sense to us either.

3.0 Pours a clear golden color with white head. Floral hops and cereal grains on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with more grain.
3.2 Light but well-balanced grassy hops and caramel malt. Sneaks the alcohol in there under the radar.
2.2 Tap at Liffey. Medium yellow with medium white lacing. Grainy, corn flakes, yeasty biscuits and mineral water. Flavor is bready with the lightest minerally bitterness. Watery with a light foamy quality.
3.4 Tap. Dark golden pour. Aroma of grass, grain, and light fruits. Taste is sweet. Mild malts.
3.8 Tap at Memory Lanes. Pint glass. First of the season. Light orange or dark golden in color. Healthy head reflecting fresh quality that even Memory Lanes can deliver given it’s early in the season. Taste definitely leans sweet with sugar prevalent. Toffee, caramel. A little hop-ness. End is smooth. Great start the spring beer.
4.0 Bright hazy yellow with a soapy head. Aroma or yeasts, barley, pale malts and a hint of toffee. Aroma of sweet malts, yeasts, barley and a slight earthy flavor. Light body with a slightly carbonated bite. Very good!
3.0 pours blonde ....minimal head...light lacing....smell is hop and light citrus....taste is nothing spectacular...my wife likes this beer way more than me...very average in my opinion.
3.0 Pours hazy dark straw with off-white head. Nose was hopcitrus, mild fruitiness, with a hopcitric, pale malty flavor and a crisp finish. Medium to lighter mouthfeel heft.
3.4 Pours golden with small white head. Nose is very simple but appetizing. Some grassy hop aroma nd fruity, apple and berry like notes, toasted malt aroma. Flavor is very mild but quite pleasant - light malt sweetness at the front followed by a refreshing tang of herbal hop flavors with just a slight touch of floral hop flavor.
4.2 I am biased. This is my favorite beer. Live close to the brewery. 7.1% ABV is fun! Very Smooth and Creamy. A little bit of bitterness. Not too Light. Not too Heavy. Just right.
3.3 Average "bock" average flavors of caramel and toffee. It does have a nice mouthfeel though.
3.4 clear gold pour, thi white head..crisp aroma, hints of apple... taste is very easy drinking, malts, and clean inish, not bad
2.8 Citrus undertones in this Heller Bock. Medium bitterness, golden body with thin white head. Not as complex as expected, maybe a darker version would have been more satisfying.
3.2 Light amber pour. Light white head, some lacing here. Malty nose and a big malty taste that has some subtle hops and bitterness to balance it out. Easy to drink and solid. Good, not great.
3.5 Deep orange/bronze color. Nose is toasty caramel malt and sugary toffee , somewhat syrupy, with moderate piney hops. Flavor is more of the caramel-type toasted malt with a decent dose of American pine hop bitterness. Hop finish with some lingering malt sweetness. A very Americanized version, yet fairly enjoyable. Clean profile overall.
3.2 Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a near clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of sweet bread and grains with a touch of cookie. Flavor is similar with sweet grains and cookie up front but more of a bread finish.
3.4 Bottle - Light amber with a light foamy white head. Nose is light honeyed bread with a touch of yeastiness and some subtle floral hops. Taste is about the same, with more bitterness and sharpness, with a mouth-coating yeastiness. Thin and bubbly with lots of sharp carbonation.
3.3 Light golden with foamy white head. Yeast, honey, cloves, candied peaches in the aroma. Sweet and cereal malt, honey and lemon. Yeast and mixed candied fruits, pineapple, some tart and grassiness near the finish.
2.8 Light Yellow, Good Head, Some Lacing. A little thin, on watery side. Some Sweet Malt and light bitter aftertaste. While it may be fine and easy to drink, nothing stands out and is forgettable.
3.1 Sampled at the Texas Craft Brew fest, my score is based off of some incoherent notes and a 2 oz sample.
3.4 Big yeast aroma with some earth. Tastes like wheat bread with a bit of lemon citrus. Especially like the aftertaste, where the aforementioned elements hit their best balance. Nice and refreshing.
3.2 The color of this beer is pure golden with a large white head that disappears at a medium pace, and the aroma is reminiscent of dough yeast. The taste is quite sour and slightly sweet, and the palate combines a medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation, and an astringent finish.
3.4 Gold, almost clear cept for some tiny floatie debrie. Light head, slight lace. Adequate carb. Aroma is grainy-sweet, with a mild tart lemon?/light fruit. Some spice and mineral. Taste is light carmel/butterylike,with floral-spice,grainy sweet malty, light tart with lemon citrus, stronger tangy citrus finish with some spiceyness Thick-rich..Full bodied,pilsnery/grainy-breadiness.Somewhat grassy but in a good way. Pretty decent.
2.8 Not much head or lacing. Nose is cereal and bread. Taste slightly sweet and malty. Very plain. Come on summit step up and bring it or become a has been.
1.7 Pours deep straw with a white head. Aroma of burnt leather, or an expired pilsener. Some bitterness. Not my cup of Ayahuasca. Pretty sure bock is darker. On the other hand, it does say Mai. To the point; not my style.
3.2 On tap for this local beer. Slightly better than expected. Frothy, good mouth feel, good amount of alcohol.
2.9 Bottle. Pours yellow. Some good malt flavors in this, very smooth and drinkable. Some other flavors give it a little spice which is welcomed. Quite good for a local maibock.
3.3 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy bright golden color with a medium sized foamy white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet, tangy and yeasty with notes of honey and candied golden fruits. The flavor was sweet sugar, tangy bread, faint honey and pear. The finish was medium length tangy sugar and bread. Moderately full bodied. Solid.
2.6 Yellow pour. Yeast and pine Sweet then bitter. Missing something but not sure what. Leaves me kind of flat
3.3 Clear and yellow-orange, with a foamy white head. The nose is light caramel, sweet, a little grainy or bready. Flavor is predominantly sweet and, again, bready/grainy, maybe a little spicy. Very drinkable and smooth .
