Svatý Norbert Jantar 13° (Polotmavé)

Svatý Norbert Jantar 13° (Polotmavé)

Bottom fermentation, medium full and medium bitter whole malt beer.
Vienna lager and Bavarian Märzen were the inspiration for its composition.
The color is closer to Märzen and the bitterness closer to Vienna lager. Märzen,
Czech March beer, used to be cooked in March, which is still rather cold. Nowadays we have mechanical cooling and, therefore, we cook amber all year round.

3.9 500 ml bottle as "Sv. Norbert Amber Lager 13°" via trade with Aseclja and Rotin. Thank you! Looks: Translucent amber honey colour with small nobs of dirt-like yeast sediments. Gusher Alert! Explosive five finger head with crumpety off-white foam which lasts for 4 minutes; Excellent good sticky lacing with fizzy carbonation. Aroma: Fragrant Amber malt, with strong caramel, sticky toffee, red fruits, tartness, floral, molasses, spices, wood, fresh bread and light grass. Taste: Close to medium sweet fair Amber malt, with honey, sweet caramel, toffee, red fruits, floral, molasses, spices, strong herbs, thick bread, lemon, strong bitter hops and strong grass. Body: Medium body. Quiet thick and very slick palate. Mouth Feel: Good Amber maltyness in a very solid and smooth background. Good dose of honey with pleasantly sweet caramel, toffee and pronounced red fruits. Flowery with medium sweetness, Very herbal grassy, spicy and bready with lemon to round. Very hoppy and nice! Hoppiness: Floral, spices, wood, and light grass in nose. Strong herbs, floral, spices, lemon and strong grass in taste; Bitterness is quite strong for a lasting, mid to high astringent sweet-bitter Amber malty finish. After Taste: Quite dry. Caramel grassy and bitter to mouth. Comments: Unlike the Falkenštejn Ostroff 12°, this one's malt isn't as thick or doughty, but with a much stronger and vibrant Amberness in honey and sweet caramel. It's also has a much stronger herbal grassy hoppiness than I expected. A pleasant surprise!
4.0 caramel, bread, cereal, floral, golden, amber, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, average carbonation, full body, bitter,
3.0 Again, very little aroma. Light grassy taste with a somewhat hoppy and dry finish.
3.7 Donker oranje troebel bier met romige off-white schuimkraag. Sterke moutgeur en -smaak, caramel, toffee. Mooi in balans, relatief laag in koolzuur. Geen al te grote fan van moutige bieren maar dit is toch wel een topper in zijn genre.
3.0 Draft. Inviting hazy gold pour with slight bubbly head. Refreshing opening with an oily base, slight stickiness. Some caramel malts, brown sugar. Smooth lager finish. I didn’t find it to be anything special, but certainly solid.

3.5 Bottle split out side P-Arch with thanks to Harrisoni, 11/03/17. Golden amber with a decent egg shell white head. Nose is brown bread, biscuit malts, cereals, light berry fruit. Taste comprises toasted grains, fruit loaf, malts, biscuit crumble, light wood, dusty notes, some backseat toffee action. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, moderately drying close. This seems to be the Rolls Royce of the Polotmavy style from the few I’ve experienced !.

Light-medium sweet flavour with more hearty, bready biscuits, faint orangey notes, hay. Light bodied, smooth, with fine carbonation. 4.0 Bottle from a colleague at work. Hazy red brown amber lasting cream head. lager aroma. Sweet czech malt aroma. Smooth in mouth. Rather a good polotmavy touch of smoke. Really good lager. Love the balance.
3.2 Pite 21.02.2017 Aromat ciężki, słodowy, ale nie jakiś bardzo odrzucający. Smak tak samo. Nie za wiele się dzieje. Jak na lagera pije się przyjemnie
3.9 From tap at Klášterní Pivovar Strahov with Gunnars ryk & reis 06.11.16. Hazy orange. Dense and persistent foamy beige head and lacing. Aroma of hops and malt. Very hoppy taste, with meadows, grass and a hint of citrus. Long and medium bitter aftertaste.

3.8 Tap at brewpub. Amber color, thick white head. Aroma of caramel malt, nuts, bittering hops. Tatse is easy drinkable, fresh, decent balanced
3.1 Amber, hazy. Aroma breadcrusr, toffee and hints of sulfur. Palate medium, low carbonation. Very malt-driven, medium sweer caramel, finish balanced. Ok, no big flaws on this one but nothing special really. Have had better lagers.
3.9 Piwo bursztynowe, klarowne.
