Švyturys Gintarinis

Švyturys Gintarinis

GINTARINIS beer belongs to the “Pilsner class”, it’s volume is 4.7% and the colour is of light amber. The beer is made of malt, hops, beer yeast and fresh water. This is the lightest beer that belongs to ŠVYTURYS family. Lithuanian beer lovers like it for it’s fresh, slightly bitter taste and long lasting aroma of hops. In 1999 it was awarded with a gold medal in “Product of the Year” contest by Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists.

It might seem wired today, but in 1995 when reconstructed ŠVYTURYS brewery offered GINTARINIS beer in Klaipėda for the first time, the lowlanders decided that brewers are making fun of them. “They cheated! They diluted it!”, shouted fans of dark beer who were used to ŽIGULINIS.

The way of GINTARINIS into the hearts of Lithuanians was not easy. At first this beer was made darker and thicker on purpose. Later it became lighter and has been improved until it met the requirements of ŠVYTURYS technologists and consumers.

Because the demand for the light beer is constantly increasing, the brewers of ŠVYTURYS are dreaming about creation of new, even lighter beer that would be perfect to stay the thirst and refresh on the hot summers day.

2.8 Golden straw, with good foam. Nose: Malt rich, with light notes of grassy hop. Quality. Taste. The body for 10% is dense. Soft. The taste is malt, sweetish, there are notes of bread. The finish is malt with a hop bitty bitterness.
3.3 Bottle. Golden beer with a strong white head. The aroma is yeasty with a touch of maltiness. The flavour is quite dry with plenty of yeastiness. Overall a nice strongly flavoured lager style of beer.
2.6 Bottle from Papa Karlo in Tolworth as Svyturys Amber. Clean tasting and reasonably balanced lager, nothing interesting but perfectly drinkable.
1.8 Pucha pintowa. Złote o białej, średniej pianie ,która zanika szybko. Kukurydza, ziarniste nuty, słód,trochę kartonu....
2.1 Clear golden beer with white head. Aroma is mainly malts, grain and little metallic. Taste is without character, some sweetness and low bitterness. Light body, watery. Overall drinkable beer with dry crispy end.
1.5 Rami Rami is drinking a Gintarinis (Amber) by Švyturys at Larnaca Marina Kukurydza lekka, polslodko, zboze, mokre, zimne, eerolagerek spoko
Hindamiseks teen vaid ticki.
2.5 Can, 568 ml. My first Lithuanian beer ever. Absolutely featurless, meaningless Pilsner. Deep golden, decent, sour white head, good carbo. Sour foam but sweet malty aromas, light sweet bread. Thin mouthfeel, sweet palate with a moderate bitterness on the end. Should be more thick in body, could be a good beyoond average lager. Not bad anyway, but nothing extraordinary, at least it's refreshingly carbonizied.
2.7 500ml can from T-Market, drunk overlooking the Sea Garden in Burgas on a humid summer afternoon. Pours crystal clear with a thick foamy head that soon settled to a good collar of lacing, slight visible rising carbonation. Straw in colour. Faint aromas of caramel, floral honey and citrus. In the mouth, lower than average carbonation, a smooth and surprisingly creamy texture, minimal sweetness at first but rising through the palate, caramel and honey flavours with some floral and biscuit hints, no alcohol presence before a softly bitter, medium-length finish. Overall, notably smooth and well balanced despite the light flavours and modest price. Not bad for a supermarket lager/pilsner.
2.7 Pint can(s) in Pervalka. Golden with white head. Bready, sweet, a bit rough with a sweet finish
Do wypicia.
3.0 Heller, mild herber Beginn. Süffig, deutlich bananig, spritzig. Feine Karbonisierung, die starke Bananigkeit stört etwas. 10/9/9/9/8/9
Utterly forgettable.
2.1 Nudne i niedobre - metaliczne, trochę diacetylu. Ziołowa goryczka, ale tępa i nikła. Niedobre
2.7 Can in Vilnius. Grainy neutral beginning. Watery with a moderate bitter aftertaste. Sweetish neutral, sessionable with a slightly bitter aftertaste.
2.7 Pale blond colour with thin head. Aroma and flavour have some sweet pale malts. Overall a bit sweeter and more flavoursome than other lagers.
1.8 50cl can (4.6%) from IKI - Žvėryno žiedas, Vilnius. Pours pale golden with a modest, white head. The usual and expected grainy aroma with mild vegetable notes and hints of hops. Moderate sweet with very low flavour intensity and bitterness. Thin, watery and highly forgettable.
2.3 Golden. Aroma is corn and wheat. Taste is excessively sweet malt. Low carbonation. Pretty bad.
2.9 I bought this bottle at the slavmarket in Paris. I drank it at home yesterday before our Peruvian meal, during these beautiful days of May. I think that when the weather is hot the majority of lagers make a better sensation than usual. This one is a boring beer but it is drinkable, una chelita de barrio, the color is yellow/gold, normal carbonation, thin and white head. The taste is malty, bready, small touch of honey, some hop, a bit metallic and watery, not the Olympe beverage but it is acceptable con unas verdaderas tapas de Andalucia.
1.9 On can from ICA Vilnius. Clear golden color, good foam. Low aroma intensity; boiled vegatables, some Malt- but does not really have much aroma. Light body & complexity . Ok bitterness & balance. Simple stuff
2.4 1 pint can. Pours clear gold with a small white head. Aroma is hay, pale malt, slightly metallic. Taste is grain, malt, cereal. Nothing to write home about.
2.2 Bottle from CCCP in South Ealing, pours clear gold, is gassy but with very little head retention, light aromas of toast, wax and buttered corn, sweet malt is faintly nutty, with a touch of dry-grassy hops. Light lingering bitterness. Bit dull, really.
2.1 1 pint can. Pale golden to yellow pour. White head. Aroma: sour esters, lemon peel, grain, malts. Flavour is watery malty, weak melon notes. Very poor. A waste of money. Tastless and worthless brew.
2.5 500ml bottle (as ŠVYTURYS AMBER): obtained from some random store in West Norwood, London. Drank with my son in his place on 18th Nov 2016. Bog standard Pale Lager/Pilsner: golden, clear and clean, fast fading white crown. Refreshing enough but lacking depth and flavour. Not really malty, not really hoppy, just a bland blend with a slight bitter finish.
2.3 Gulbrun klar med fingerhøyt hvitt skum. Lukter lett honning, malt, korn og lett sitrus. Lett.
3.2 Bottle. Aroma is grains, caramel, peach and apples. Taste is medium sweet, weak fruits, no bitterness to speak of. Not really a Pilsner, but in itself a decent beer!
