Sweetwater 420 Strain G13

Sweetwater 420 Strain G13

G13 IPA is a strange new strain, indeed. We took the dank hop profile you’d expect from a hazy IPA, and married it with terpenes and natural hemp flavors. The result is a big yet balanced IPA that mimics the aroma and taste of a heady, green G13. G13 IPA is a sticky super-hybrid that’s ready to rip.

Pungent and dank aromatics on this terpene infused IPA fill the room once the beer is opened. We went with an aggressive dry hop schedule which interlaces nicely with the unique flavors to bring forward citrus and earthy notes followed by a resinous finish.

3.6 Can at Cactus Jacks Saloon. Aroma of pine, dank hops, mild earthiness and light grains. Similar taste, adding mild to moderate bitterness. Medium body with a slight dry mouthfeel and a smooth finish. Good.
3.7 Pour from a 12oz can. Slightly hazy brew with creamy off white head. Aroma is citrus, grapefruit, earth. Taste is citrus up front with dank earth notes rolling in at the end. Moderate malt backbone throughout, but not enough to consider it sweet. Nice lingering earthy notes after the swallow. Agile palate with a pleasant, refreshing feel. Enjoying it! It was a happy surprise to see a shelf of Sweetwater brews in the grocery store in Michigan. I usually only get to try their wares while on the road. I hope they stick around!
3.9 Can. Golden body with a large, frothy white head. Aroma of toasted grain, marijuana, citrus, grapefruit. Moderately sweet start, moderately bitter finish. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Clean throughout. And nicely balanced. Closer to a classic IPA than a NEIPA. A nice reprieve from all the muddled hazies.
3.7 Can (BB Jun 25, 2021). Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (marijuana, lime, blueberry). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Wow, surprisingly nice...clean and fluffy and very well-balanced in the mouth, quite a joy to sip. And yeah, the aroma is uncannily weed-like, kinda fun. And none of the usual modern IPA off notes, either. Nicely done!
3.5 Draught. Pours mostly clear gold with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention. Moderate dank, bong water, sweaty sock hops, medium hop bitterness, medium toasted bread malt, and a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation.
3.4 12 fl.oz bottle. A clear yellow golden beer with a white head. Aroma of citrusy hops, grapefruit, grainy malt. Taste of mild citrusy hops, flowers grapefruit, pale malt.
3.2 12 oz. can. Pours a medium, gradually collapsing, off white head, lacy residuals, over a slightly hazy dark yellow (SRM 4) body.....nose is hop herbal, vegetable notes, mild malts.....taste is hop dominated with herbal, vegetable notes with lingering bitter tones.....mouth feel, medium light body, no alcohol, moderate carbonation. This is drinkable but is an atypical IPA style.
3.3 Bitter forward taste, super skunky nose. Good, but not very pleasantly drinkable given it is so over powered on flavor. Good though, just not my thing.
3.1 It pours a pale gold color with a rocky white head. It has the aroma of tropical fruit with a faint dank smell. It tastes incredibly dank with some tropical fruit flavor. The dank flavor blends really well with the hop bitterness. I really hate NEIPAs for the most part, but this was pretty good. I think I'd really like it a lot more if I liked the style or were a pot head.
3.8 12oz Flasche. Sanft trübes gelbes Bier. Hoher fester Schaum. Kräftiges Hopfenarome. Grün und grassig. Im Geschmack dominiert erstmal der Hanf. Dann kommt der Hopfen besser durch. Bitteres Finish. Passt gut zu 🧀. Bin keinnFreund von Hanfaroma, hier ist es aber ganz gut eingebunden.
3.7 Definitely has a strong initial weed smell like walking by an outdoor reggae concert. Some citrus as well. Golden pour with foamy head. Pine. Light bitter finish. More like a regular IPA than a hazy. Bottle.
Weedy nose. Flavor is stinky weed with hops and weed palate. Easy carbonation
3.4 Lahvové z internetového obchodu americanbeer.cz. taková klasicka ipa z amerických chmelu. Asi nic moc co by se muselo vozit do Evropy ale ok.
3.5 Wow. Skunky hemp. Very earthy. Malty. Pungent aftertaste. Weed. Grassy finish. Interesting stuff.
3.4 From tap at Persee, Deventer. Aroma is tropical fruits with hemp but not too much in this instance. Fruity hop, herbal dankness, stone fruits, apricot. Bittersweetish taste. Medium body. Dank hemp, bittersweet fruity hop. Not bad.
2.7 Super hoppy, remotely reminiscent of weed in flavor
3.8 On tap. Pours a rather hazy gold, big frothy head. Aroma is hoppy and dank, citrus, lots of herbal notes. Medium body. Flavour is light, not a lot of malt is accentuated. Very hoppy and herbal, dank, pine, citrus fruit, especially grapefruit. Some spicy notes. Nice.
3.7 On tap at TapZuid, Amsterdam on 16-Aug-2020. Served in a shaker - hazy amber in colour with a medium sized white head. Aroma of caramel, tropical fruit and pine. Taste of earthy dank hops, caramel, peach and citrus (grapefruit and orange). Moderate bitterness and a little sticky sweet. Not as fruity as most of the NEIPAs out there, but more true to its IPA roots. Pretty good.
3.6 Bottle. Pours a hazed golden color with a thin off-white head. Aroma was dank with pine, citrus and grass. Flavor of pale malts, tropical fruit, hemp, citrus, pine and mango.
4.1 Pretty good looking pour with a pale golden body with a slight haze, and a two finger thick durable head. The aroma is not as strongly "herbal" as the other beers in this mixed 12 pack. The smell had a bit of orange peel in it which was followed by some floral flourish. The taste was tangy, bittersweet, and delicate. The mouthfeel was slick and refreshing. Overall this was a solid offering all around.
2.1 I know I’m supposed to like IPA, I just don’t.
3.2 12oz can. Poured hazy but not as much as expected and tons of sediment floating around. I might not have had the freshest can as it tasted a bit stale and lagerly. OK but expected much better.
2.9 Pours a clear, dull straw. Large lacy head on high carbonation. Significant hops aroma. Sweet with dark berry hops. Clean mouthfeel and a slight bitter biscuit aftertaste.
3.4 Can. from Gebhard's Beer Culture. Pours cloudy pale yellow with foamy off-white head, faint citrus aroma, low carbonation, medium bitter unripe mango-spring onion taste, citrus, thin body, long mellow finish. Interesting flavors.
3.7 12 ounce bottle. Bright medium gold pour. Big rocky white head. Big dank hop aroma is redolent of pine and hemp. Bitter hop notes upfront. Sharp citrus and pine. Crisp dry finish is long and bitter.
3.3 Draft at Magerks. Pours almost clear gold with a fizzy white head. Tastes like resin, grassy hops, leather, and very sticky. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like resin, leather, grass, and dank.
3.5 Frisch gezapft. Klar und dunkelgolden mit kleiner Schaumkrone. Aroma von Pinien. Gut gehopft. Leicht trocken im Antrunk mit rundem Abgang.
3.4 Pour is a slightly hazy golden with a large pillowy whitehead. Aroma is a pretty good tangerine and mango hop. Flavor is more citrus fruit with a way more bitter finish then I am used to. This was a pretty good serviceable low abv IPA.
