Sweetwater Blue

Sweetwater Blue

Sweetwater Blue is a unique lighter style ale enhanced with a hint of fresh blueberry. When you drink this beer take a good whiff first and you’ll smell the blueberry influence, but on the taste it’s extremely subtle and the finish is extra clean. Ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, usually folks that are looking to quench their thirst or for those that are new to the “good beer” lifestyle; this is their choice. This brew and the ESB were the original two to go through the tanks at SweetWater in February 1997.

Medals: Bronze medal winner at the 1998 World Beer Cup, Fruit Beer category; Always the funky favorite at any outdoor beer festival

5.0 So good. Sweet Water beer is awesome!!
3.5 Blaubeeren sind Programm, in Nase und Trunk direkt wahrzunehmen. Daneben überraschend crispy, leicht getreidig. Feines Ding! Schmeckt.
3.5 Draft at beertemple. Aroma of strawberry, malt and peach. Taste has strawberry, malt, wheat and blueberries. Allright.
3.4 4.6%ABV. Wheat ale Tapped out light yellow. 5°SRM. The nose has aromas of blueberry bubblegum. Mouthfeel is light, carbonated. Dry. The palate has flavors of wheat malt, nice clean pretty long runway of wheat toast, fresh biscuits, dough. Hop flavors are woody, and minty and barely there. The finish is clean with a pleasant light dryness. Overall, a refreshing and highly quaffable and very agreeable wheat ale. Nice clean bubblegum flavors with a hint of pepper and clove.
3.3 Bärnstensfärgad disig med vit skum. Doftar och smakar lite blåbär och inte så mycket mer
3.4 Lightly cloudy gold. I actually dug the blueberry nose and flavor here. Seemed natural and not fake at all like so many of the old school fruity wheat beers. Crisp and light, would be a decent summer brew. 3.4-5.
2.9 On tap. Pours a golden color with a small head. Aroma of blueberries, trace of citrus and grain. Taste of fruit, blueberry, light malt sweetness and grain. Light bitterness and somewhat fruity finish. Light body, with a summery feel. Goes best with summer.
3.1 Hard to tell sort of cause had this at a music festival poured in a plastic cup :( Think I am pretty close though. Seemed decent for a blueberry, leaning on the wheaty side vs. the clear/crisp ale like Blue Point's. The fruit is subtle...maybe more so than SeaDog and not as wheaty at their version. Something I would get again, but pref. in a bottle at 6-12 pack price.
3.4 Pint draft from a fresh keg at Curious Palette in Singapore. Appearance is a hazy golden hue, topped with half a finger of white froth which dissipates quickly. Aroma has a tart tang of blueberries to it, over more malty notes. Taste has little blueberry though., being sweet malty, and with a light pine bitter. Light to medium bodied.
2.4 Bottle from Beer Republic. Clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is sweet, malty and blueberries. Flavor is medium sweet. Light dry finish. 071018
2.3 Bottle. Medium head with medium duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are melon?, blueberry, fruits, malt and has a light bitter finish. A bit watery and boring.
3.3 35,5cl Bottle @ Beer Republic, Breda, Netherlands. Golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma is malt, blueberries. Taste is malt, sweet, wheat, blueberries. Medium body, average carbonation.
2.5 This beer has strong smell of blueberries which is the main goal of this beer. Taste of blueberries and very slight hops. It seems like a fine beer while fishing or camping.
3.3 355 ml bottle, bb 04/01/19. Gusher. Golden-amber, quite clear body, with a small, dissipating head. Aroma of grains, sweet blueberries, flowers, fruit tea, some citrus, some berries. Tastes quite similar, with more hops. Medium to light, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation. Finishes fruity, medium hoppy, citric, floral, with lingering sweet blueberries. Nice. Good mix of grains, hops and sweet blueberries. Nothing special, but an enjoyable, quaffable, little beer. Score: 7 / 3 / 7 / 3 / 13
4.3 Delicious balance. Rentz tavern in Odell Illinois kicked up a notch with a fresh blueberry thrown In.
3.3 Found on tap at outdoor 76 in Franklin, NC. I am surprised by the low rating as I found this a very refreshing beer. Pours a light gold with limited head. Great hot summer day beer.
3.7 6/20/18 With A watching Anchorman after getting back from pistol thicket. Killer looking can. Love the fish and the blue is kickass as well. Smell is potent blueberries with a bit of “beery” wheat. Fruity. Smells good. Taste follows with lots of blueberry and a bit of wheat beer. It’s sweet with low bitterness and quite good. Feel like they nailed what they were going for. Medium palate with a sweet finish. Nice and crisp. Overall, a wonderful novelty beer that’s delicious! Didn’t have super high expectations but this is excellent!
2.9 Got it in the CAN. Gold brew with small fast fading head and the aroma of grain and blueberry. Taste is grains with some blueberry and some medicinal twang in there. Not bad but not great.
2.9 355ml bottle. Clear golden colour with small to average, frothy, rapidly diminishing, white head. Fruity, malty and minimally grassy, hoppy aroma, hints of blueberry, caramel, blueberry muffin. Taste is slightly bitter, grassy hoppy, fruity and caramel malty, hints of blueberry; grassy hoppy, minimally strawy finish. Light and minimally watery, not overly refreshing.
3.5 Bottle at Jane Doe Östersund. Smell is true blueberry pie, amazing. The taste is similar at the start but fading out towards a light session ale. Can see the breakfast beer idea
3.8 resin, floral, grass, spruce, citrus, herbs, pale, golden, amber, orange, red, clear, cloudy, sparkling, minimal head, white foam, frothy, light sweetness, medium sweetness, heavy cloying sweetness, lightly bitter, medium bitterness, lightly sour, medium sourness, salty, light body, medium body, bitter,
2.7 Bottle 12fl.oz. @ The Shnoodlepip, London. [ As Sweetwater Blue ]. ABV: 4.6%. Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, cardboard, blueberry, light wheat. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, sweet malt, berry, cardboard, pale malt, blueberry. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20170809] 5-3-5-3-11
3.0 (Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 21 Feb 2018) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity nose with notes of blueberries, bread and plums. Malty, fruity taste with bread, blueberries, sweet malt and plums. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Low bitterness. On the sweet side and not very complex, but tasty and refreshing. Quite enjoyable.
3.6 Although I'm not one for fruit beer, this easy-going delicious and fresh blueberry-infused wheat ale is a perfectly sessionable and supremely refreshing summer beer. Pours with a slight touch of haze, golden yellow color with white foam, mostly clear for a wheat ale, but all the more appetizing. Sweet but not excessive blueberry on the nose and in the flavor, the taste is a well-balanced mix of blueberry flavor with sweet wheat and grain. Has more blueberry flavor than Blue Point Blueberry lager, but is not overstated or monolithic. I honestly dismissed this beer for a long time, but now finally giving it a fair try, it is something I would drink more regularly over the summer if only I didn't love their newer Grass Monkey lemongrass-infused hoppy wheat ale even more. Still a great beer going strong after 20 years of being in production.
3.4 12 oz. can from Total Wine, San Antonio, TX. Pours a clear gold color with a white head and fair retention. No lacing. Sweet malt aroma, but not much blueberry aroma. The taste follows the nose: Sweet malt flavor with a little wheat to help give it more body, and just enough blueberry flavor without becoming too fruity. A refreshing summer beer after exercising. Medium-light body and carbonation. Zero bitterness.
2.0 Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is artificial perfumy blueberry with notes of wheaty malt. Flavour is sugary sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Body is light. Very artificial, not to my liking.
2.6 0,355l bottle from K-Citymarket Ruoholahti, enjoyed @ Otaniemi with Superbowl. Pours cloudy golden with a medium head. Aroma is sweet malts with plenty of fruits. Flavor is thin sweet malts with some fruits and some hops. Disappointing.
3.0 Bottled 355ml (KSM Kamppi, ABV 4.6 %) Slightly hazy golden colour, small white head. Sweetish fruity aroma with some blueberry. Light-bodied. Sweetish, pale malty. Low bitterness. Kind of blueberry candyish. Easy drinker, good Sauna beer.
2.0 Not as fruity as expected. Just ok.
