Sweetwater Hop Hash Double IPA

Sweetwater Hop Hash Double IPA

We scraped all the hash out of the Yakima hop pelletizers we could get our sticky fingers on to concoct the dankest double IPA out there. The pure hop lupulin, aka “hash” (the resiny stuff), meshes seamlessly with the 2-row, pilsner and wheat malts, allowing it to deliver a pungent punch to the palate.

4.7 I’ve not had an IPA I liked better. Amber color perfection. Taste extraordinary ! Really, Really, Really LOVED this beer !
3.7 Pours a deep dark orangish amber color. Aromas of big hop action, sweet malts, and more hops. Flavor has some bready malty tastes with nice grapefruit and floral hop taste. This is one huge bitter hoppy bastard.
3.7 Pour dark amber, with fluffy tan head. Aroma is resin, grapefruit, citrus, caramel. Flavor is very thick, with resin up fron with citrus and grapefruit in rear suttle notes of caramel. Leaves mostly clear palate. Overall pretty good.
3.6 Hop Hash. Super...astringent? It drinks like super thick, sour orange juice.
4.1 Not quite is punching as some of the hops or resin type beers that are out there but has a nice hops flavor stays pretty hoppy throughout and doesn't have a bitter aftertaste it's actually a nice lighter hop I guess you could call that smoother hops flavor
3.8 On tap at Poor Phil’s in Oak Park, IL., and dispensed to a New Holland logoed pint glass showing a dark amber/walnut color, with a fluffy layer of off white head foam, and clingy spray as lacing. The nose was sweet, caramel, pit fruit, citrus as orange, and maybe a bit of tropical scent. Medium+ bodied, with decent carbonation, the taste remained sweet, showed a little dryness, along with an amped & lingering, citrus & rind bitterness, and a touch of tartness to the finish. Imperial hop & body wise, but not necessarily with the alcohol, thus making this surprisingly quaffable to me.
4.0 Draft at Moriartys. Hazy orange gold pour with a large frothy off-white head. Good lacing. Full and well balanced IPA. Dank sticky resins. Peaches and peppers. Clementines and clove. Sage and scallions. Blonde caramels and burnt oranges. Dirt and dandelions. Certainly unusual. Well worth a try.
4.8 Love this beer. Color seemed darker than typically described in other reviews. To me, was a highly drinkable double IPA. Loved the hoppiness and fullness. Great beer!
3.8 Bottled. Pine and citrus from orange amber pour. The usual notes, mangoes etc Really drinkable for double ipa.
4.6 Aroma: citrus, pine, caramel, resin Appearance: clear golden with an off-white head Taste: medium sweetness, medium bitterness, Palate: medium body, slick feel, average carbonation, long finish, Delicious
3.6 Pretty heavy maltiness for a double IPA. Somewhat sweet as well with a fairly hoppy bitterness. Not really your typical double but a nice alternative.
3.4 Draught @ Waterfont Ale House. Clear dark orange with small off-white foamy head, floral hops aroma, medium carbonation, sweetish taste with citrus peel flavor, medium citrusy finish. Quite citrusy but smooth.
3.6 Bottle - from sampler pack. Dark golden color, clear. Mostly clean, slightly floral aroma. Good. Very hoppy with pine-like hop flavor.
3.3 Courtesy of Paul, shared in JC, December 5th, 2015. Pours a deep orange body with light haze and foamy white lacing. Nose is citrus fruits, perfume, malt and bitter lemons. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with caramel malts, spicy/floral hops, soft citrus fruits and sugar. A bit too malt-forward and sweet.
3.6 Bottle at home while cooking Christmas Dinner. Amber gold pour with a frothy white head. Aroma is juicy hop hash, peach, resin. Medium bodied. Fresh and juicy, not really dank at all, as the commercial deScription suggests. Lots of sweet malt underneath, stonefruits, apricot, orange, and a big bitter finish.
3.5 Bottle. Moderate to heavy caramel for the malt, heavy grapefruit and orange peel for the hops, light to moderate soap for the yeast, with a note of dried apricot. Head is small, frothy, white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy, light orange. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately to heavily acidic. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily, with a carbonation between soft and lively. An okay DIPA with pretty much everything in the right place for the style.
2.9 Not much nose, some faint hoppy frankness. Taste is overwhelmingly bitter with few other notes to speak of. At 100 ibu's this one is all bitter with nut much enjoyable flavor. Won't try again. Can't get into sweet water beers for some reason.
3.6 On the lighter end for an IIPA, which is fine by me. Mostly clear golden copper color. Aroma is a bit of dank and citrus. Tastes is a nicely balanced combination of sweetness with a fairly substantial hops bitterness with some nice dankness and grapefruit and lemon, which stays as a bit too lemony on the aftertaste. The palate is almost perfect. Very good.
3.8 Mild hop aroma. Very bitter with an alcohol finish. Not a bad beer but not stunned. Had 12 pack variety from food lion.
2.6 Bottle. Whew, another slap you in the face IPA. Aroma is grapefruit and spruce. Taste is grapefruit, pine and way too bitter.
3.9 A nice citrus hop aroma. Taste is a good pine hop what a well blended malt aftertaste.
3.9 Poured from bottle. I smell hops and ocean. Good lookin orange with lacing head. I’m tasting lotsa hops, mostly floral/grass with some pine. Malt flavor is sweet with honey and vanilla notes. Pepper, banana and hay notes. Surprisingly easy drinking for a DIPA. Another impressive brew by Sweetwater.
3.8 Clear golden pour win a thin white head and sticky lacing..... Aroma of piney and dank hops, citrusy grapefruit, light floral notes and piney .... Taste is of dank and piney hops, sweet juicy fruits and some light bitter citrusy orange and grapefruit ..... Has a light dry bitter hop bite and some caramel malts on the backend .... Finish is bitter and dank with a lingering juicy fruit ... Mouthfeel is sticky and slick .... Really nice brew
4.3 Pours a clear rust orange with light white head and light sediment. A strong citrus hop and pine aroma. A sweet taste of citrus, lemongrass, floral, pine, and fruits with a massive hop bomb. A lingering strong bitter hop, sweet citrus and light caramel malt aftertaste.
3.7 12 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden with tall, long lasting, fluffy white head, nice lacing and lovely carbonation. Aroma is of citrusy, funky yeast, oranges and wheat malt. Body is full and crisp. Citrusy, herbal hops, bready malt and ripe fruit fill the mouth. Finish is long and dry. Very good overall.
3.7 Misty medium honey gold. Dense, short white head. Citrusy, golden AIPA aroma. Sweet, dense, esteric, pineapple. Viscous. On tap, Taco Mac, John’s Creek.
3.6 Bottle at Buffalo Wild Wings in Frederick, MD poured into a pint glass; hazy orange-golden color with white head. Aroma notes of heavy floral/tropical fruit hops, some pine, slight grass and light caramel malt. Taste adds bright hop spices, citrus zest, resin, grapefruit and pineapple. Medium-heavy body, moderate-low carbonation, dry, rich with lingering fruity citrus/pine finish. Very nice hop bomb, would not turn down more.
3.9 Bottle. Hazy orange gold with a frothy white head that slowly dissipates. Floral and citrus aroma with pine, orange, grapefruit and lemon zest. Very tasty.
3.5 Bottle. Slightly hazy golden with a small head. Smells of luscious floral hops. Taste is orange peel, pine, lemongrass. It's tasty
3.7 On tap. Pours a cloudy orange with a thick foamy white head. Aroma of citrus, tangy fruits, tropical fruits, floral hops, perfume, lemon. Flavor of spicy hops, bitter hops, floral hops, citrus, caramel malt. Does not come across as super hoppy, has a decent malt base, and more floral/fruity hops. 8/4/7/4/14 (3.7/5)
