Sweetwater Hop Hash Easy IPA

Sweetwater Hop Hash Easy IPA

Previously: Sweetwater Hash Session IPA.

Cooling out on the dock, jamming tunes and popping tops, waiting for da rod to bend. Gist of the grist is mellow at 4.20% ABV, laying down the base to showcase the blazin’ Amarillo hop hash sunset.

The star of the show here is the hops, specifically the hop hash! We kept the malt bill light to allow the hops to shine through.

We does this sucker with a boatload of Amarillo Hop Hash. Pungent with floral, tropical citrus fruit flavors and the hop hash gives it that one of a kind chewy, gooey, resiny mouthfeel. As the chaser, we are giving it a hefty dry hop to enhance the potent aromas. Ahtanum gives it orange and grapefruit tones, Crystal for a little kick of spiciness, and El Dorado bringing some pear and watermelon characteristics.

2.0 Twelve ounce can. Pours yellow and hazy with a tick head. A light mouthfeel with medium hops. A "Lite Hop" beer that would probably disappoint you if you are really into IPAs.
2.9 Murky golden pour with a gigantic, bumpy, off white head. Citrus and vegetal nose. Not remarkable. Flavors aren’t much improved on the aromas. Pretty flat flavor profile featuring some citrus and bitter seltzer. Carbonation prickliness is somewhat distracting.
3.7 Sample at Örebro Öl & Whisky 2018. Hoppy smell with citrus and a cake malt aroma. Similar taste. Nice. Very easy to drink.

2.8 22/06/18. Pours a hale orangey yellow with a good white head. Citrusy, light. Alright, not special.
3.2 Keg, Garden Gate. Quite cold. Pale in colour, hint of haze. Not a lot of malt or yeast going on. Nice fresh hop bite, touch grassy, although maybe not up to the manufacturers’ spiel on the fruitiness! But overall not bad.
3.4 Bottle. 4.2% Best before 31.10.18. Pours a hazy yellow, with a frothy, off-white head. Chunky (!) lacing. Soft, citrus aroma, a wee bit juicy. Light spicy hop note, sweetish, ripe fruit as well. Dusty hint. Flavour is ripe fruit, citrus, hints of yeast, orange peel, dust, the latter increasing as it warms. Bitter hop finish, a bit harsh, with fruit, dust. Lingering grassy note. Overall fairly good, decent hop profile. Feels slightly unbalanced though, and needs that last push to make it stand out. 11.08.18.

4.1 Hop Hash Easy IPA has a thick, off-white head, a sediment-filled, golden appearance, with lots of bubbles and some glass lacing. The aroma is of some white bread and mixed fruit. Taste is of sweet, white bread, fruit salad, and fairly strong bitterness. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Hop Hash Easy IPA finishes dry. RJT
