2.8Shared with Pyrozoid. Vitamine enduced urine like poor... cloudy, small off-white head. Aromas of yeast, citrus, lime zest, coriander. Acid, medium carbonation and body, lightly sweet and even bitter profile. Flavors are of lime zest, coriander and banana extract.
3.212oz from kpresly77. Pours yellow cloudy with a tan ring. Nose is bitter and yeasty. Taste is sweet and light. This is a decent wit, not a bummer that I thought it might be.
3.1Bottle. Courtesy of tytoanderso. A somewhat cloudy pour reminiscent of what the Mississippi river looks like in a glass. Seems to be very carbonated. Large bubbles made up what there was of a head. A largely sweet smell comprising of yeast and citrus fruit. The flavor practically mimics the aroma with a pleasant dry finish at the end. I was a little surprised when the finish settled in. A decent summer beer, but not nearly as solid as others.
3.2You know the saying "my ____ went to _____ and all they got me was this stupid t-shirt"? well, thankfully in my case it usually goes a bit more like this: "my parents went to ____ and brought me back some beer." in this instance, my folks were in Georgia for one of dad’s car race events so they brought me back a 6 pack of Sweet Water Brewing Hummer ~ a White Ale. What can I say, my folks know we well. Sometimes too well.
Hummer pours a hazy orange with hints of milky white along the edges and definitely in the head. Speaking of which, there was a small head, but not as much as I would have expected. I swirled the last bit of beer in my bottle to gather as much of the yummy yeasts that had settled on the bottom into the last pour of my Hummer into her glass. Sweet sour yeasty explosion in the nose, and for a moment I even detected the aroma of fresh hard-boiled eggs (a first for me) and sour citrusy notes. I take a sip. A sour citrus and yeast explosion, almost enough to pucker me taste buds. Definitely a different interpretation of a white ale I haven’t ever tasted before. A bit more into Hummer and I get intense granny smith apples and cinnamon and coriander. Rather dry with a light body so that the overall sour profile doesn’t overwhelm. Brussels lace leaves a scattered trail along the sides of my glass.
Hummer is like a one-two punch, sour yeasts and citrus zing up front for the first encounter with sweet apples and wheat coming up right behind. Probably the most unique white ale I have had so far, but definitely good. I was initially caught a bit off guard, but with each quaff Hummer grows on me and I enjoy it more and more. As I work on finishing my Hummer, little flecks of yeast and wheat start to settle on the bottom much to my delight, readying me for that final quaff.
A great summer beer, Hummer would be excellent out on the boat deep-sea fishing or relaxing on our white sands enjoying the warm sun, ocean breeze, and crashing waves.
3.2Bottle. Hazy pour typical of the style. Very esther-y with a nice citric finish. A nice beer in spite of it not being one of my favorite styles.
2.3BB 8/27/08 bottle into tulip. Disappointing. Smells like a lager. Pours very slightly hazily clearish light golden color, with quickly fading white head - looks like a lager. Mostly what I taste is a prevalent maltiness, with very mild spice and citrus notes; very little flavor - tastes like a lager. Light to lightly moderate palate - like a lager. Wait, I thought this was a Belgian White Ale. Hmmm - maybe this is what they mean by Hummer.
3.0Bottle, thanks to ericandersnavy.
Pours a cloudy yellow, white fizzy head. Aroma of lemon peel and faint malt. Flavor is semi-sweet, lemon peel, faint malt. Palate is light bodied, soft, with high carbonation. Overall a great summer beer....
3.6Bottle. Pours a bright hazy yellow with a puffy one-finger head that hung around for a little while leaving very little lacing. The smell is very sweet with bananas, oranges and coriander. The wheat backbone is also very evident in the smell. The taste mirrors the smell and is a very sweet wheat backbone with banana and spices on top. Oranges are also present after the initial sweetness. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied but very crisp and dry in the finish with high carbonation. Drinkability is extremely high on this one and it’s a great summer beer.
3.0On draft at the Sweetwater Taphouse in the Atlanta International Airport. Nice hazy yellow pour with fair white head. Banana and clove nose, Wonderful aroma, too bad the flavor didn’t stand up. Funky yeast flavor is a bit off. Cloying finish.
3.1bottle thanks to GAManiac. poured a cloudy yellow/gold with a white head. aroma was banana. flavor had some citrus and banana. overall not bad. glad i can still say i have enjoyed every hummer i have ever had.
3.212 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with GAManiac. Gotta love the slogan "Everybody loves a hummer!" Pours a cloudy gold with a moderate white head that lasted until mid-glass and left patchy lace. Light, somewhat indistinct aroma of lemon and perhaps a touch of spice. The flavor is strong tangy lemon and lots of coriander. Some light orange and banana also detected. I don’t know that I would drink this every day, but its a nice change of pace.
3.3Bottle from suttree. Thanks!
Pours a thick, light cheddar orange with a nice, subtle aroma of coriander and lemon. Flavor follows in the footsteps of the aroma but brings along some orange peel. Nice mouthfeel; tingly and lively on the tongue. Refreshing and tasty.
2.9Copying Blue Moon....it is good.....but, I am a fan of both..... Try with a orange.
3.5Bright golden color with a thick off-white head. Aroma is citrusy with some cloves, yeast and banana. The orange and coriander come out more in the flavor with spices and some yeast towards the finish. Pretty well-rounded and refreshing. Nice.
3.3Bottle in trade from robbmotiwala. Thanks!
Pours slightly cloudy with a golden color. Small white head. Smell is very wheaty and lightly clove like spicing. Taste is mostly wheaty and with a tart citrusy lemon and orange like tartness. Somewhat mild flavor overall, and with light spicing, but what is there is nice. Pretty drinkable and not terribly complex, but I liked the bit of tartness. Solid.
3.2Nice offering from Sweetwater! Poured a lite butterscotch color. Head reduced to a nice lace. Sweet on the front end with nice mouth feel.
3.06-7-08 bottle
Medium golden pour wiht a nice white head. Smell is witbier esque - has some lemon clove in there and is not bad at all. Flavor is a bit watery overall - a hint on the dishwater side for me - lemon is present - but mostly just water. High carbonation and average mouthfeel overall. Overall, drinkable but a hint on the bland side for the flavor.
3.4Bottle. Pours a cloudy light golden color, with a fizzy white head that disappears quickly, and wet dripping lacing. Belgian yeast aromas, some citrus hops, chalk and clove. Flavors of spicy clove, pepper, that farmy belgian yeast, some sweet raspberry, zest, and a oaty malty finish. Chalky mouthfeel, balanced well, a good representation of the style.
3.3Lots of coriander, very spicy. Hard to get much more - a little pepper here and there. Nice wheaty tang, very drinkable, nice color (bright gold). A little cotton candy sweetness in the flavor. Aroma is slightly sweet and fruity. Thanks to GAManiac for the bottles.
3.3Pours a cloudy golden colour, with medium sized white head. Lots of sweet and fruity aromas of pears, pineapple and coriander. Excellent mouthfeel, very pleasent taste all around.
2.9bottle. small white fully dissapting head into cloudy orange body. aromas of moderate corriander and light hops. flavor is almost a candy sweetness. moderate finish duration. watery texture. okay white.
3.3On tap in the Atlanta airport. Look is orangish with a light head. Cloudy. Smell has malts, yeasty, fruity, orange peel, and corrinador. Pretty easy to drink. Yeasty taste that is light and fruity.
3.1Decent wheat beer, reminds me more of a hefeweizen though. Pours a cloudy orange-yellow with a quickly fading head. Aroma is orange peel, spice and wheat. Very refreshing taste. Grapefruit and orange dominate, with a nice spice/metallic finish. It gets better with every sip.
1.9The aroma is like citrus, wheat, yeast, and vinegar. The appearance is hazy gold with a thin head. The flavor is like the aroma and sharp. The palate is thin. Absolutely nothing like witbier: bad.
3.2Bottle thanks to jrob_21! Coriander and slightly bitter orange peel, with a heavy wheat malt aroma. Classic wit scent. Hazy golden body with a bubbly white head. Taste is a heavy citrus attack, orange and lemon with a sharp tangy stab of apricot, and lightly metallic coriander. Crisp from heavy carbonation, medium body, alcohol well-hidden except for some dulling, numbing. Has some jam/marmelade notes, but isn’t oversweet. Refreshing.
3.2Bottle: Not bad for a witbier. Aroma and flavor of citrus. I have had worse of this type. Very drinkable.
2.6Bottle. This beer had way too much coriander. I was not impressed. If you like spicy beer you might like this one.
2.8This beer kinda smells like soap. Tangy, cloudy, citrusy, sweet-tart. Not the Wit it wishes it was.
3.7Not too bad for the style. Spicy aroma. Pours a cloudy golden. Coriander is apparent in the flavor along with a bit of a musty finish.
2.9Pours cloudy orange with a light head. Smells of yeast and citrus. Taste some yeast flavor but mostly citrus with slight yeast finish. Average wit.
