3.3Bottle, Kroger.
Pours golden - looks like apple juice with a small white head.
Smells of lemon and flowers. Tastes the same.
2.2Pours a mildly murky golden color with no head. Some fruitiness on the nose. Wet, slick mouthfeel. Some scrubbing underneath. Flavor is Rogue Dead Guy-ish crossed with Magic Hat #9. Not great.
3.5The flavor is what makes this beer great. It has a soft hoppy bite at the finish and a delicious rye malt flavor up front. Great for those who love IPAs or those who are just getting their foot in the door of drinking hoppy beer.
3.4From a bottle. Tastes like musky hops, grassy, light sweet citrus. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like musky, dry hops.
3.4Bottle. Pours golden amber with white head. Aroma is cereal and toasted malts, rye, grassy and floral hops, and light tropical fruit notes. Flavor is grainy malts, rye, medium hop bitterness, and light fruit esters; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.
3.4ATL airport - tap. Pours butterscotch gold, nice white head. Not much aroma. Starts creamy on the tongue, finishes with nice bitter hop and rye flavor. Clean and fresh.
3.8Poured up on tap at the SweetWater Draft House ATL Airport - Terminal A with a gold body that supports an off white head of foam. The mild tumbler pour aroma offers up some grainy malts and then some nice spicy hoppiness. The taste has some malt sweetness, nice spicy hops and then a rye twang sort of feel. To midway it gets a bit floral here and there but the hop bitterness remains at a pleasing level. Into the finish I start to notice a light citrus candy sensation. Enjoyable product.
3.6On tap at the Atlanta airport taphouse, terminal A. It’s a clear dark golden beer with a small, off-white head. The aroma isn’t very complex, but sure pleasant. Lots of peaches, some pineapple and resin, and a subtle spiced touch. It’s full bodied and dry on the palate, with perhaps a bit much carbonation, but it’s nice anyway. Some malty notes in the flavor, but the hops pull the heaviest load. Peaches, pineapple and a really nice bitterness that lasts. It might be the long flight, but this was really nice right now. 140511
3.2Aroma of fruit and grains with a hint of hops. Slightly chalky taste with a hint of hops and fruit. A mineral palate slightly bitter.
3.1Poured from a bottle. Cloudy orange color, small white head. Mild citrus and hops aroma. Light rye and bitter sweet hops flavor with a sweet finish.
4.2Very solid IPA. Aroma is hops and rye. Flavor is hoppy and also rye pour is a nice golden amber with a thin white head.
4.0Delicious rye beer, and I’m not very experienced in this style. Good citrusy aroma, nice golden color with slight but frothy head. At first tasteI was afraid that it was too weak, but the rye comes through as you keep drinking.
3.8Rated on notes from a tasting on 4 Jun 2013 -- Decent rye beer. I am a big fan of rye brews.
3.5A slight brown tint with a creamy head, this beer has a nice aroma of citrus and spice but not bold. Very nice body lends itself to the spicy rye flavors. Hops balance pretty well and the finish has a tannic like finish.
3.0Tap at Sweetwater in ATL airport, just not that good, a little spice of rye a little kick of hops but nothing to make me want to drink more of this.
3.64/19/2014. From bottle. Amber color with a white head. Malty aromas with a hint of flowers. Very nice balance and a great bitter finish.
3.5Might be a bit jaded this is always available, loads of malts some tropic citrus and loads of fruityness which turns into bitterness. Good beer
3.5Bottle. Pours clear orange/gold with nice frothy head. Good head retention, too. Aroma is bright citrus - tangerine, grapefruit, melon, some orange. Taste is distinct rye, some sweetness from the malt, good pine/resin characteristics (though not as distinct as I’d prefer), and some more citrus notes. I get tangerine quite clearly here. Decent IPA and good incorporation of rye.
3.2Bottle strangely enough from the Gatlinburg Walgreens. Overall a fairly muted beer. Neither the hops nor the rye had a big bite. Good but maybe it sat a little too long too based on store turnover.
3.2Location: 12 oz bottle at the Renaissance Waverly bar, 3/17/14
Aroma: The aroma is caramel malt and rye bread, a little grapefruit, spice, and a floral hops
Appearance: It pours a copper color with a small, frothy head, and some decent lace on it
Flavor: The flavor is similar to the nose, caramel/rye, light sweet, grapefruit/spice light bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, a touch thin, with a plus carbonation and a spice tingle
Overall Impression:
I thought this one was only okay. The hops just don’t come through in a meaningful enough manner, and the overall beer is just kind of on the dull side.
3.8Draft - Huge grapefruit with a nice caramel backbone. Little beige heat and a clear copper. Lots of caramel and grapefruit, with a hint of the rye spice. More sweet than bitter but nice.
3.5On tap at the Atlanta airport. Good beer. Didn’t like it as much as the regular ipa MB had, but good. Nice rye tang to it.
3.8Pours just like the picture. Smell is hoppy and fruity. Grassy notes, similar to an ipa. Tastes sweet, hoppy, bold, and full of rye. Pretty easy to drink. Good stuff that is in my standard rotation
3.3Clear copper with no head. Nose is a little fruity and floral, a touch of resin, and earthy bright malts. Bitter beginning with grassy acidic hops, spicy rye malts, and a doughy earthy blonde finish. Eh.
3.1Bottle from Five Points in Georgia. Pours a light amber body with short head and minor lacing. Aroma is clean malt, light spice and pine hop. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of pine, resin, rye, spice and clean malt. Ok.
3.412 oz bottle into pint glass. Hilton head.
Appearance: light brown/copper in color. Slight haze. Small white head.
Aroma: spicy rye, citrus and floral hops.
Taste: mildly sweet with a slightly spicy finish.
Palate: medium body. Good body from carbonation. Spicy finish.
Overall: a nice combination of spice and hops. A very interesting an enjoyable balance.
3.0Sweetwater LowRYEder is a basic rye beer. Very little aroma detected from the copper amber pour with a nice head. Nice balance and rye and malt taste with a hoppy finish. From the perspective of an IPA, there is not much complexity. Finish is pretty clean. Sweetwater LowRYEder is a nice beer to enjoy with food, but just average as a craft beer.
2.6Bottle. Golden color with a large head. Aroma is grains and not as much hops as one would think for an IPA, a tad of citrus. Taste was surprisingly missing of hops also. Overall not a bad beer. Not great but it really was a thirst quencher
3.3Good and flavorful. Pours a dark orange with a good hop flavor which isn’t overpowering.
3.4In a sampler pack from my son. It poured a clear golden color with a white head. The aroma was fruity and some crisp grapefruit. The taste was bitter, hoppy and grapefruity. It was smooth and fruity with crisp hoppiness and a little peach to grapefruit in the finish. Very well done.
