The success of the campaign has spread throughout the southeast to other local communities and their local Waterkeepers. Waterkeeper Hefeweizen continues our mission to raise aware

3.4 12 oz. can from Louisville beer stored; shared with my Boo. Aroma: Banana yeastiness; clove and gum in equal parts. Moderate, but appropriate sweetness for the style. Appearance: Poured a slightly hazy, rich gold with slim streams of carbonation holding up a foamy white head; the head settles into a wispy skin. Flavor: Dried wheat notes up front; this really opens up more midway through and finishes with a clove spiciness. Palate: Medium body, tacky texture, soft carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: A completely respectable American Hefeweizen. Definitely worth a try for fans of the style.
3.0 A descent tasting beer. Nothing really special but still drinkable on a hot day. Grateville dead.
3.0 Hazy golden-orange with a thoroughly resilient off-white head. Aroma of bubblegum, yeasty phenols, and grain. Taste is yeasty and a little sweet. Medium bodied and a little bubbly. Not my favorite.
3.3 An aggressive American style hefe. Very phenolic, tending more to clove than banana, but elements of both. Carbonation strong, fizzy, carbonic bite.
3.0 12oz bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a big foamy off-white head. Nice head retention. Aroma is of wheat, banana, spice, and clove. Smells good. Taste is of wheat, spice, and clove. Very big banana taste as well. Has a very dry, bready malt backbone. Lingering banana and spice characters. Slight alcohol taste underlying. Mouthfeel is very carbonation, and slightly soapy. Body is light, but not watery. Drinks real easy, but nothing amazing. It’s not bad, though.
3.9 Aroma is spices and cloves. The flavor is cloves, spices, wheat and a tart finish.
3.5 Sampled on draft this beer poured a slightly hazy yellow-gold color with a small foamy white head that faded and left minimal lacing. The aroma was bready, yeasty, citrus and clove. The flavor was very bready, tangy, sweet orange and hints of peach and clove. Long finish with a touch of bubblegum. Medium body. Solid.
2.8 12oz bottle. 8/23/15 code date. Appearance: Golden and nearly clear, with a quickly dissipating foam cap. No apparent yeast left in the bottle. Aroma: Apple and pear esters dominate, more typical of Belgian yeast than German. Typical banana and clove is missing. Taste: Sweet, spicy Apple and pear esters abound. Bitterness only enough to offset the sweetness Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with only the slightest creaminess. Carbonation is low for the style. Finish: Lingering pear and spice, with a hint of graininess on the tongue. Overall: Decent beer, but kisses them ark for what I’d expect from a hefe. No yeast present in bottle, low carbonation, and yeast character skews more Belgian than German
3.6 bottle that pours a medium yellow with white head and no lacing...the aroma a nice wheat blend with spices. medium carbonation and medium on the flavor as well. just kind of misses the mark for a true hefe but not really complaining it flavorful, its got a nice little bite on the end. overall its very drinkable and has a good flavor.
3.1 Poured from a 12 oz bottle poured into pint glass. This beer has a nice golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is of wheat and malt with little to no hop or yeast backing The flavor is of semi-sweet wheat. The palate is medium bodied with moderate carbonation with a slightly oily texture Overall- An average hefeweizen, I find most Sweetwater brews over-rated.
3.4 Poured a slightly clouded gold. Bananas cloves etc. A pretty competent hefeweizen really.
3.2 clear pale. little head. sweet perfumy aroma. mild and easy going on the palate. little co2. goes down way too easy. mild fun stuff. civilized and friendly. pretty good. some shades of bubble gum but never even too much, good balance. well done.
3.1 12oz bottle, from Dutch’s. Best if enjoyed by 8/27/15. Kind of hazy golden color. Thin white head. Leaves decent, somewhat loose ropes of lace. Decent banana, bready wheat aroma. Light spice. Moderate-plus sweet taste. Light to moderate bitter, some mild dryness. Lightly slick. Kind of crisp, somewhat sharp light to moderate carbonation. Decent hefeweizen. Not exemplary; it’s no Weihenstephaner. But solid flavor, and reasonably easy-drinking.
3.2 on tap @ Ei8ht Ball / Bellevue KY --- Cloudy dirty straw color, bright white head cover, stripes of lace. Taste is malt that’s hand-in-hand with spices (but not coriander), that noves smoothly to a lightly hopped finish. A simple Hefeweizen, but it works well on those terms.
3.3 Pretty decent hefe, though the aroma is unusually faint. Thankfully picks up on the tongue with the expected banana and clove.
3.6 It pours golden with a full white head. It has aromas of orange, wheat, spices, specifically the smell of allspice, and leather. It has flavors or wheat, yeast, orange, spices, and salt.
2.9 355ml bottle. Golden hazed pour with no lees. Aroma is banana and lemon. Flavor is clove, vanilla, banana, lemon. It is an undeveloped hefeweizen.
3.4 Lemon, mint, coriander nose. Cloudy amber, thick head. Coriander, subtle bubble gum, mint. Chewing gum finish. Medium body. Tasty, but kind of a hybrid witbier and hefewizen. At least it isn’t an American wheat.
3.3 Bottle. This was surprisingly good with lots of classic crisp hefe flavor. Will get again.
3.7 Faded to a thin film, no lace. Aroma was big time wheat and yeasty notes, somewhat spicy, light clove, with a small earthy hop presence. Flavors were also wheat heavy, yeast imparts big flavors, lightly sweet, yet bittersweet finish. Smooth mouthfeel, carbonation rather light.
3.3 Easy drinking and soft on palate. Pours cloudy golden with good head and lacing. Finishes sweet with some light bread yeast and banana. Tap at Union Pub.
3.7 12 oz. bottle. It pours a semi clear gold color with nice streaming bubbles and a fluffy white head. The aroma is very pleasant with strong wheat, pepper, clove and hints of banana and bubble gum. The flavor is wheat, pepper, clove, baking spice and a little white grape. Very light hints of banana in the finish. Mild acidity, and maybe just a tad too sweet. Perfectly carbonated with a very nice, refreshing body. A very well balanced, aggressive Bavarian style hefe.
4.0 Large draft beer, on tap at Boardwalk Billy’s in North Charlotte near UNCC. Aromas of banana and clove are delightful. Pour is hazy but still translucent with a nice head. Tastes like a good banana followed by some clove notes. Finish is sweet and refreshingly clean. This is a very good Hefe!
3.2 Bottle. Poured hazy golden color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate hefe spice and floral aroma. Medium body with a thin smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft drinkable brew.
3.3 Appearance: average to slightly darker golden color, pours with a big beige head, hazy Aroma: very faint aroma, hard to pick up much at all, maybe lemon, bread Taste: banana, lemon, some light hops on the end, some sweetness to it Palate: very full mouthfeel, banana aftertaste, frothy Overall: pretty good hefe, could use some more banana flavor, and could use some aroma too, very drinkable
3.1 Pours cloudy dark golden body with decent thick head. Aromas of toasted malt, caramel and banana with mild floral notes. Taste is somewhat sweet and lightly bitter, grapefruit hints.
3.3 Bottle. Yeasty nose, with light floral stuff, and gentle wheat. Hazy dark straw color, thick head, and good lace. Sweetish initial, some wheat, light banana, mild spice, and decent bittering in mid and final. Medium body. Pleasant, sweetish hefeweizen.
4.0 Aroma: banana, clove, sweet, refreshing, making my mouth water! Appearance: opaque golden color with nice two inch head when poured, slight lacing left on glass Taste: classic flavors of a heifeweizen with banana and clove, really good flavor Palette: light medium body, leaves a nice strong flavor at the end Overall: this is a fantastic beer, this type beer is one of my favorites and this beer does well for the heifeweizen name
3.1 bottle pour...eh..everything about this is just eh..a decent hefe but not really anything that stands out here..pretty happy to try the single..glad to not have a sixer of this..not my cup of tea....
3.4 Full pour if golden liquid with off white head. Nose is fruited but not a lot, paired with typical hefe yeast esters, and some spice. Flavor follows, not as spiced though which makes it more enjoyable for me. I’d do it again.
