Switchback Ale

Switchback Ale

Five different malts,
select hop varities, and our own specially
cultivated yeast create an ale which leads with
hop flavors and a subtle impression of fruit
(our yeasts contribution), followed by a palate
pleasing malty finish.

Correcte.
2.7 Malts, caramel and herbs in nose. Pours amber with white head. Taste is medium sweet with malts, caramel and herbs. Low bitter finish, average carbo. Overall not really exciting, on tap at Sunset Grille, Stowe VT.
3.2 Poured a hazy amber. About a finger width head. Smelled earthy and bready. Medium bodied and hoppy with a lingering bitterness. Flavor also had notes of indistinct dark fruit.
2.6 Palatable beer that doesn’t seem to know what it wants to be. Not great, not terrible.
2.6 Sweet smell with a foamy head. Interesting palate. Tastes kind of like an IPA if most of the hops were removed.
3.5 Very hazy orange with a half inch head, on draft. Malty bisquity taste - as an earlier comennter noted, reminuscent of an English bitter.
3.4 Lite dimmigt brunröd med tunt vitt skum. Doftar lite malt och karamell. Smaken fyllig med malt och lite sötma. Eftersmaken hyggligt lång med malt och liten beska. Lättdrucken.
4.5 Love this beer. Very smooth, super well rounded and drinkable. Not overly hopped but enough flavor to make it interesting
3.0 Draft at Dinosaur BBQ in Troy, NY. Hazy straw with nose of pale malt, milder hops, biscuity malt. Tastes like a British bitter.
5.0 Nice ale
3.2 12 oz stubby bottle bought in NH. Murky dark gold pour with a khaki head and decent retention. No lacing. No real distinct flavors. Crisp and smooth with almost no bitterness. Lightly sweet and light fruity hops. I would have guessed this was a weak pilsner. This beer doesn't know what it wants to be.
3.4 Brown-orange with small tan head. Aroma malt, toasty, touch of hops. Medium-light body. Flavor is off-dry malt, some roasted flavors, fruitiness, very slight bitterness. Simple, good balance.
3.4 Bottle shared in MV. Pours clear orange with a fairly tight, foamy off-white head. The aroma holds toasted grains, some English yeast, a few leaves, citrus peel. Light sweet flavour with more toasted grains, more orange rind, a little grassy bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with some further leafy hops, citrus peel, further lightly toasted grains, more bread. Not bad overall.
3.0 I’ve had this in the bottle and on tap, but this rating is for a pint pour at Our House Bistro in Plattsburgh, New York. Pours clear amber, minimal off-white head and lacing. Aroma: brown sugar, some nuts. Flavor: pretty much the same Mouthfeel: medium-bodied. It’s OK, drinkable, non-offensive, but really boring. I can’t understand why it’s so popular.
3.2 Mild aromas of bread. Pours an orange gold with a thin white head and a lot of lacing. Sweet and sour balance with a light lingering sour finish. Good carbonation. A nice drinkable ale.
3.6 Nice amber color with an off white head. Medium body, malty, with a little bitter from the hops on back end John L - Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
2.6 Keg at Switchback, Burlington. Cloudy amber, small head. Fruity bready nose. Mid sweet with medium body and clean mouthfeel. Crystal malt and bread, some hay. Mid bitter finish.
1.6 APPEARANCE- lightly orange (in this bar’s light). Odd for an ale. It is plenty turbid, so I believe it’s unfiltered. NOTES- I’ve already said the most interesting things about this beer.
3.8 A very pleasant bitter. Quickly dissipating head. Cloudy appearance because of the sediment. Slightly malty aroma. Nicely balanced flavour.
3.0 Draft. Copper brew with tan head. Nutty aroma, sweet malt, hints of grass and floral hops. Taste is modest sweet malt, earth and a little grass.
3.2 Draft... Murky dirty-orange pour with a mid-sized, creamy, white head. Interesting lacework is left behind. I'm picking up no aroma, despite my best efforts. Full-bodied with airy carbonation. Generic bitterness is the only thing the flavor has to offer. I'm picking up no fruitiness, resin, spiciness, herbs, grassiness or earthiness here. There's enough malt to provide a hearty body, but it offers very little flavor-wise or toward achieving balance. There's lingering bitterness in the lengthy finish.
3.4 On tap @ Switchback. Cloudy orange beer with a white head. Lightly earthy and floral hops on the nose and tongue. Some sweet caramel, bread, and toasted malts as well. Pretty malt forward beer, in fact. There is a light bitterness, some apple esters, and woody hops. Maybe a little bit on the grassy side. It’s okay.
3.0 Bottle. Pours a hazy copperish color. Aroma and taste are grains and a little hops.
2.5 Friend brought me back a couple of bottles from Vermont. Pours a dark amber that is impossible to see light through. Huge head, very sudsy, pillowy head and leaves a really nice amount of lacing on the glass. Very good looking beer. Some malt on the nose, with maybe a faint amount of some hop spiciness. Doesn’t smell as good as it looks, but there is nothing offensive in the aroma, just fairly weak. Watery, slick and oily mouthfeel. Some hop bitterness in the flavor profile, but watery and pretty weak. Maybe I am having a bad day with all of these misses. Not a drainpour, can finish this one, but there is nothing here that is going to make me sad that this is my last bottle of it. Glad I got to try it, but can safely move on from here.
4.8 Excellent smooth and light taste. Easy drinking beer. I often refer to this as the "Budweiser of real beer drinkers", because it is extremely popular when drinking several beers.
3.1 On tap @ Switchback. Pours hazy opaque orange with thin white head. Aroma is muted caramel malt, light sweet orange hops. Taste is similar. Kinda meh, but drinkable and easy.
3.5 On tap at Switchback brewing. Pours out a hazy peach color topped with a white head. Nose is grain some earthy hops and a fruit note. Taste is more of the grain cereal malts earthy hops and a stone fruit note.
3.4 Poured from bottle thanks Willrunforbeer orange color with a nice white head. Aromas of clove bananna fruit malt. Taste is slightly sweet dry fruit floral grass and caramel malt.
3.0 Bottled version. Pours out a medium russet amber. Frothy off white head. Very earthy. Light malts. Thin body. Lingering sticky malt finish. I probably need to let this one warm up more.
2.6 Tap at the brewpub with commonshawn, rosskyle, samadouche. Half pint. Deep orange with hints of amber. Good lacing. Nose has malty/cereal qualities with some hop bitterness. Taste is very basic and approachable. You won’t find complexity here. Mild bitterness filling in the gaps between the dominant malty, grainy notes. Strange fruity finish that joins in with a mostly herbal tea bitterness. This feels like a beer I’ll forget soon after I’ve finished it.
