't IJ Plzeň

't IJ Plzeň

Plzeň goes to show that a beer doesn’t need a lot of alcohol to be special. With its fine, hoppy flavour, this 5% blond beer can certainly hold its own against the stronger beers. Brewed only from pale barley malt, this is a floral beer with delightful, hoppy aromas of hay and fresh grass. Deliciously dry, with a long-lasting aftertaste. We named the beer after the Czech town of Plzeň, from which Pilsner beers originate. Despite that, our Plzeň is not a Pilsner; it is a refreshing, bitter, top-fermented beer.

3.4 Surprisingly tasty beer, probably because it’s a top fermented pilsner. (although that’s technically impossible) Subtle bitter and fruity taste.
2.8 Tap tasted on 08/06/2014. Light golden colour with a generous white head. Aroma has floral fruity notes and hops. Taste is sweet and hoppy. Aftertaste is good for a pilsner. Medium body and medium.low carbonation. Next one please!

3.4 Grassy aroma of citrus fruits, grains, floral hops. Flavour is light sweetness, hoppy, with some nice bitterness in the aftertaste. Quite tasty and refreshing, would drink again were I to return to the brewery.
3.8 On tap @ ’t IJ. Clear golden with a small white head and good lacing. Aroma is grassy with floral notes, hay and nice hoppy presence. Taste is floral and grassy with fresh cereals and light lingering bitterness. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Moderately dry finish. Clean and crisp. I like the long aftertaste in that one. Super grassy too. Quaffable. Very good!
3.3 On tap @ Brouwerij ’t IJ. Golden yellow with white foam head. Fruity hop aroma. Hoppy bitter taste.
2.8 330ml Flasche. Ins Glas ergießt sich ein goldgelbes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch malzig hopfig, grasig. Geschmack hopfig malzig, leicht fruchtig herb, getreidig.
3.6 On draft from brewery tap, clean tasting pilsner, good of its type. Easy drinking
4.1 On tap @ Brouwerij ’t IJ. Clear blond, average white head. Aroma citrus, hoppy, leaves, grass. Taste light sweetness, medium bitterness. Medium body, soft carbonation, long lasting fine bitter finish. I wish all the lagers were like this, very good flavor and aftertaste.
3.5 Draft at Brewery. Golden with medium white head with nice lacing. Light aroma of bananas and some grass notes. Medium body with some sweetness and a nice bitter finish.
3.0 Pale hazy, yellow/gold with a frothy, creamy, lacy, disappearing, white head. Smells of citrus, fruit and floral hops, toasted malt, yeast and some grass. Light-medium oily body. Soft sweet taste of wheat and fruit with a medium biscuit and a medium bitter grassy finish. It was nice enough to drink but needed more sweetness. A decent pils nonetheless.
3.7 Bottle. Cloudy yellow with a small head. Traces of citrus are present. Easy to drink and rather nice.
3.8 Bottle. Hazy orange golden, frothy white head, fades after a while thin cover. remains; good lacing; grassy nose, bread, some dough, hay, floral hops; bittersweet taste, hint of lemon; medium body, oily texture, average carbonation; dry, smooth, lasting bitter finish.
3.1 On tap at the brewpub. Hazy gold pour with foamy white head. Aroma is lemony, grassy, grainy and quite yeasty. Taste is bitter, nice hoppy flavour, however it is a bit husky and yeasty, could be a lot cleaner. Palate is well carbed and dry. Nice flavor profile but a bit too dirty.
3.5 On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy yellowish gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a good amount of straw with a bit of grass and some sweet grains. Flavor has a nice grass and straw with a backing leaf note.
3.4 Tijdens dkv-cambuur, wazig oranje witte kraag Aroma: citrus, hooi, zacht Smaken: fris, licht hoppig, zacht bitter, citrus, pilsmout Lichte body, zachte tonen, afdronk gist/bittertje
3.0 How: Draught. Where: Brouwerij ’t IJ, Amsterdam. Appearance: Hazy yellow colour with a white head. Aroma: Wheat, yeast, malt. Body: Medium body and carbonation. Flavour: Wheat, spices, apple.
3.4 Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; hazy straw yellow pour with substantial fluffy white head, herb and floral aroma, grassy taste quite crisp some herb and spice and a hint of citrus. Carbonation has a maelstrom of activity.
3.1 Bottle. golden -orange colour with an off-white head. Aroma is fruit, malt, hop, yeast. Flavour is fruit, malt, yeast, hop, citrus. OK beer.
2.4 Bottle 33 cl. Pours pale golden in color with a creamy white head. Vegetable aroma, some herbs too. Same in taste. Bad batch or if it is meant to be like this, it’s not just my cup of tea. Doesn’t feel like a czech pils at all with those disturbing vegetable notes spoiling it.
2.7 The aroma and the taste of this beer are nothing special; moreover, the palate is quite poor.
3.8 Overall: Clouded, dry, some yeast, but nice. Note: On-tap at Brouwerij ’t IJ. Reviewed 2013-06-29.
3.5 Bottle. Pours a hazy opaque, peachy orange with a large, white head. Aroma is fruity with peach and apricot. Some yeast and grass. Taste is somewhat grainy, fermented fruit (the peach and apricot as well as apple) light yeast and metal. Finishes very dry with a lot of grass. Palate is light with quite a bit of carbonation though not too much. Perhaps would’ve been better to leave the yeast in the bottle. Definitely can taste the house flavor of the ’t Ij yeast.
3.4 On tap @ Brouwerij ’t IJ, Amsterdam, Netherlands. Pours with an hazy dark yellow colour, frothy, short lasting white head. Aroma is moderatley malty, and has notes of citrus and herbs. Moderately bitter, little sweet. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, medium lasting bitter finish.
3.1 33cl bottle drank at the brewpub 2 years ago Thick white head. Hazy blond pour. A good pilsener.
3.5 Bought a bottle at Bert’s Bierhuis. Aroma of hops, grass and hay. Has a trouble blonde color and a soapy white head, which stays very long, and is perfectly carbonated. Taste is sweet and dry and the afterdrunk is very bitter. A well balanced pilsner, I absolutely loved it. One of best pilsners in Holland.
3.2 Bottle at Reading Beer Festival 2013. Slightly opaque pils with an ok head. Fair taste, but a bit boring. Decent for its style.
