A dark and heavy ale - the strongest that the brewery has ever produced - in which three
varieties of malt and two spices are utilised. It is brewed "in honour of" the Burgundian Babble Belt,
a well known web-site on the Internet, where beer lovers can exchange all sorts of information.

3.8 Bottle of 4 years old. Cloudy orange colour. Minimal head. Sweet nose. Notes of honey, raisins, stone fruit. Nice balance between sweet and bitter. Warm alcoholic finish. This beer was very good and it aged very well. It’s a pity they don’t brew it anymore.
3.4 Bottle from Blue Max. Orange-cola pour with no head. Rich fig and raisin aroma. Palate is medium to a bit thinner. Decent but not spectacular.
3.0 Monstrous, crackling carbonation. Huge head. In the glass, it’s a murky, tarnished brass. A storm of bubbles - so much so that you actually get swirling currents in the glass. The head crackles and hisses at you as it very slowly retreats. Fluffy, sticky, voluminous. Insane. Aromas of dry Belgian yeast. Dried grass. Subdued fruity esters. Lots of dried figs and raisins and spice in the taste. The alcohol is very forward. Becomes nutty with pronounced caramel and toasted vanilla as it warms. Rough around the edges, but a good quad.
3.2 Bottle from Tanakaya. Cloudy/murky golden brown colour. Not much head and what is there soon disappears. Aroma is boozy and fruity. Quite sweet too. Plums, raisins, bit of candy too and something indistinct but perfumey. Taste is less full on than the % might suggest. Once again, boozy fruits, sugary sweetness, caramel malt. Herbs and spices too. Very easy to drink given the %, but not really grabbing me. Smoothed off spirit elements. Could feel the booze afterwards though. Bit of a disappointment, all booze, not so much taste.
3.6 Pour is a murky brown with a small tan head. Aroma is brown sugar, spice and toffee. Flavor is a nice heavy molasses with some dark fruit and spice. Spice lingers on the tounge after the swallow. This was tasty and probably the spicest Belgian beer I’ve had in a while. The 12% was not to be found.
3.6 Poured from 330 ml bottle. Very murky, rusty brown with vey large light tan head and very good lacing. Aroma of raisins, apples, caramel, yeast, wine and a touch of spice. Taste of brown sugar, caramel, raisins, apples, sweet cheap red wine and yeast. Medium body and high carbonation.
3.8 2012.08.05 - 11.2oz bottle in tulip glass. Pours medium orange/brown. Exceptionally carbonated and the head was easily 1/3 to 1/2 the glass and subsided slowly. Aroma has a bit of caramel note to it. Taste is very good, bit of a tangy taste envelops the tongue then gives way to sweetness and spices, and just a tad of alcohol burn. Very drinkable for a 12%.
3.0 330ml bottle bought at Bacchus Cornelius in Brugge more than a year ago. Pours brown muddy waters. Beige head, spotty lacing. Sweet brown caramel malts to the nose. The flavour is made up by sweet spiced malts, dried fruity notes and sugar. Sweet ending with alcohol warmth. Full bodied. Ok, a bit unvaried, though. Shared with Finn (Tromsø, 21.06.2012).
2.4 Pours orangeish with a large head that quickly disappears. Smells very sweet and medicinal with some fruity and spicy notes too. Taste is very similar to the nose - a bit strange. Medium to light mouthfeel. Unique beer for sure, but don’t think I’d drink it again. Unless it was free of course...
2.2 Alkoholischer, etwas oxidierter Beginn. Ledrige Malznoten, schwache Süße. Deutlich brotig, schwer. Süß-bitterer Abgang, holzig, trocken. 6/7/7/6/5/7
2.5 What the hell, maybe this was a bad bottle. Dark amber/hazy orange beer with a tan head. Aromas of earthy funk, and leather. Tastes of sour milk, dirt, molasses, butterscotch candy, and some lurking terrible element. Dirty water aftertaste. Bittersweet mess of a beer, I might need to try this again to see if the bottle I had was bad.
2.7 Muddy beer from the first glass, looks like muddy water which destroys the beer. Heater all the way down, sweet and strong.
2.7 Not sure about the date, nothing to find at the bottle. Orange-brown coloured beer, head should hold a bit longer. Smell of fruits and spices. A bit of a metallic taste, fruits, caramel and slightly some earth.
3.0 Aroma of raisins, rum, brown sugar and toffee. Appearance is caramel brown with light, bubbly head. Flavor matches the nose; quite sweet really. The palate was lightly bubbly and the mouthfeel was thin. Not my favorite BSA.
2.9 WWWhat the hey, it’s been in my fridge for a wwwhile time to drink it. Lifeless and saturated caramel orange with no head. Ah, perhaps ‘twas in my fridge a little too long. Booze bomb with fruit, yeast and caramel on the nose. Taste of booze, fruit, caramel and a bit of bready malt. Hot finish.
3.8 bottle @ Ebs......Murky , deep amber pour , small beige head , good lace . Spicy , dark fruit nose . Flavor is a blend of caramel malt sweetness and dark fruit , raisin and plum . Finishes like a dessert wine . Dry with a lingering fruit / vinous sweetness . Full bodied ,smooth , alcohol is well hidden for 12 % . Excellent nitecap .
3.8 Pours a clouded-with-yeast-sediment reddish hue. Small tannish head that falls quickly and leaves no lacing behind. Big malty aroma. Bit of a sherry/port thing going on. Fruity. Sweet mouth. Malty and raisiny. Very good. Pleasantly balanced and a joy to drink. Might age a few and see how they hold up.
3.6 Bottle at home, shared with DutchDrebus. Nice amber colored beer. Decent smell, nice taste even though the high ABV.
3.5 11.2oz bottle in a Trappist glass. Pours dark brown with ruby notes and a little head. Seems like it might be a bad bottle because there is little carbonation. Aroma strong of spicy yeast, hints of chocolate in the strong caramel and doughy malts, and some light hops. Flavor about the same. Flat, but I think it’s the bottle. A decent beer.
4.1 Aroma of sour Apple and yeast. Pours super thick, heavily carbonated, and a huge frothy head that really lingers. Plenty of dregs on this so check your bottle. Tastes sweet of cider, sour malts and alcohol. This is a real kick in the head but quite tasty.
3.8 Dark amber/brown colour. Really heavy beer. Everything about this beer is nice, but not more then nice to me.
3.3 Hazy brown with a tan/white head. A malty aroma. Flavor is tart with a crisp finish. Strong, but punchy. Somewhat fruity and sour.
3.7 Bottle. Pours a cloudy amber brown with small but tight off white head. The aroma is rich and malty with some raisin, dark fruits, pecan swirls, yeasty banana, and even a hint of port. The flavor is prune with some notes of toffee, cereal, leather, and some sweet confectionery spices. The finish is smooth and warm, but without any booze burn. After a few sips, a smoky aftertaste starts to build up that I find myself liking quite a bit. Pretty good stuff, really.
3.4 (33cl bottle) murky brown-orange pour, fine off white bubbles. Nose of caramel, sweet, Belgian yeast, wood, pear, vanilla, bourbon, comples nose and delicious aromas. taste of umami, chalky yeast, alcohol, wood, spirits, taste is good but wish it tasted as good as it smelled! Very carbonated, bit of alcohol heat, but the chalky yeast takes away from the finish.
3.6 20/04/2011 33cl bottle @ home - BB: not indicated (2011-158) Red to amber coloured beer, light beige to yellow head, much like a soda head: lots of big bubbles first, then quickly falls down to just a small layer on the beer. Lots of small particles floating around. Aroma: caramel, grapefruit, dried fruits. MF: light carbon, full body. Taste: very sweet at first: sweet malts, candi sugar, very fruity, grenadine, but then it gets a bit more bitter with hints of grapefruits and citrus acidity coming through and partly balancing the sweetness. Aftertaste: some bitterness and citrus, but also raisins and still some sugar. It’s not a cloying beer, but still pretty sweet.
3.3 I had this on tap at the Map Room into a tulip. The beer pours a very light and clear maghonby color. Not what I expect when I"m drinking a quad. The aroma and taste are not what I was expecting either. When I think quad I want trappist quad not this. It has quad tendicies you can smell and taste all the inverted sugar here, but not any notes of caramel or dark fruits. overall, it wasn’t what I was expecting, aside from that an average beer on its own merits.
3.9 Bottled at Pressklubben, Stockholm. Cloudy amber, brief head. Arousing spicy fruity nose with nutmeg and Tokaji Aszú. Sweet andfull bodied, well rounded mouthfeel. Ripe fruits meet caramelly malt in barley wine fashion. Like a sweet dessert wine, very well put together and hiding the alcohol in an exceptional way.
3.7 A clear amber/light brown colored beer, with a thick, big beige head. The aroma of fruits with caramel and raisins. The taste of caramel malt with fruits with some alcohol. The aftertaste is sweet and a little bitter.
