Tallgrass Buffalo Sweat

Some have described its rich taste, creamy mouthfeel and sweet, lingering finish as liquid chocolate chip cookies made with espresso. If you only try one dark beer in your life, Buffalo Sweat will change your entire perception of how a stout should taste.

4.4 I’m a big fan of this beer. Tried it for the first time in 2009. Sweet, thick, and soft on the tongue. Thought this was a sweet stout at first. Rich and chocolatey, bread and aromatic.
3.8 Dark black with a rich creamy head. On the sweeter and thinner side but very drinkable. Almost a session-able stout.
3.4 !2 ounce can at home. No head, dark brown in nature.Aroma is bland, Not much smell. Malty in taste and very smooth. Some notes of chocolate in the taste. Nice brew for a chilly night.
3.4 Intense, dark roast malts, dark roast coffee. Hazy, dark brown, tiny, creamy, beige head. Light bitter. More dark chocolate, cacao, dark bitter brown malts, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Alright. Keg at GABF17, Denver.
4.4 B+. Pours a black color with khaki head. Full of flavor and easy beer to drink.
2.8 Low carbonation with a medium up small head that disappears very soon. Vague sensation of chocolate and malt and a finish so smooth it doesn't leave me with any real sense of an interesting flavor. An average craft stout at best. At the end of the night I prefer not to finish it and leave it for morning after taking a sip or two. It's really a better beer to have for breakfast than during the evening.
3.8 12 oz can from the Hwy 2 road trip. First Kansas tick. Aroma is dark bread, coffee, cinnamon, vanilla. Pours black with a one finger beige head with great retention and some lace. Taste starts out lightly sweet, finishing with a light dry bitterness. Good.
3.7 Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a deep brown to black with a small tan head that dissipates quickly. Cocoa Puffs on the nose, bit of cream. Well-balanced with more cocoa puff cereal, touch of bakers chocolate and peanut butter. Quite solid.
4.0 Aroma is of chocolate, caramel, espresso all in one. This beer pours a rich dark black. Starts of sweet, with chocolate, espresso, chocolate, caramel, and malt. Finish is a bit sweet, and smooth and creamy. The only negative is the mouthful is a little thin. This is a fantastic beer.
3.2 12oz can pours black with tan head aroma is roasted malt and coffee taste balanced between bitter and sweet.
3.5 Puszka. Kawa. Słodka, ale nie jakoś bardzo słodka. Sporo wanilii, takiej trochę sztucznej, jakby aromatyzowanej. Czekolada. Wysokie wysycenie. Kremowe odczucie w ustach. Niezłe.
4.0 Pours a ruby red color. Tall thick, dense, khaki colored head. Good retention, good lacing. A few medium floated in there. Aroma is cappuccino, fresh coffee, chocolate, caramel. Biscuit. Simple, easy, good. Taste is biscuit, cappuccino, caramel. Light, but good. Slightly sweet. Ever have Toffifay candy, tastes a lot like that. Mouthfeel is super smooth, and silky. A little watery. A little tinge of alcohol. Did I mention in was smooth. Overall, super good. So smooth, delicious. It’s simple, but done very very well. Yes, I recommend it, and would buy it again.
3.4 Can served in a glass, this stout was a dark brown in the glass and gave a one finger light brown cover of bubbles that receded after a few moments, it left many spots of lacing on the glass, the nose had aromas of roasted malt, with some chocolate and caramel, some roasted malt bitterness, a little coffee, malt and brown sugar like sweetness, the flavors were roasted malt, coffee that was stronger and had a bit more bitterness than on the nose, some chocolate, faint caramel, some malt and lactose sweetness, there was some roasted malt bitterness at the finish, the mouth feel was light, it was creamy and had average carbonation, the nose was a nice mix of roasted malt with coffee, chocolate and sweetness, the flavor was similar to the nose with a bit more coffee and less chocolate, this was a nice drink.
3.8 Pitch black with a beige head. The aroma contains some coffee, charcoal, and milk chocolate. The flavor is slightly sweet with some caramel, milk chocolate and a bitter bite on the end with coffee notes. The mouthfeel is a bit creamy. Overall well balanced not too bitter or too sweet. Nice one!
3.4 16 oz can. Thanks Jere! Black color with a tiny tan head. Vanilla, crème brûlée, mild roasted malt and sweetness in the aroma. The flavor is roasted malt, coffee, darkness, sweetness, vanilla and some lactic notes. Quite nice, just a little thin.
3.7 Can. Pours opaque black with a high, light brown, creamy, sticky, fine-grained head. Nose is earthy, chocolatey, spicy, and has overtones of vanilla and treacle. Lighter than a lot of oatmeal stouts, but not in a negative way; really smooth and clean, while still carrying the darker flavor profile this style needs. Smooth as oiled glass. Delicious.
3.2 Sweetness overpowers roast flavor. Very dark brown color. Average head. No hops that I caught.
3.2 Tap at Rochester Tap House. Pours black, tan head. Aroma is coffee, caramel, sweet werther’s, thin. Flavor is chocolate, caramel, sweet, very thin body. Fine.
4.0 12 ounce can into pint glass, best before 6/8/2017. Pours crystal clear very dark brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, cream, herbal, light pepper, slight smoke, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of roast/bready malt, lactose, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, cream, herbal, light pepper, slight smoke, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, cream, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt, lactose, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from roast/hop bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a great milk stout! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt, lactose, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, almost refreshing. Very flavorful, with a nice body and mouthfeel for the low ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
4.1 Pours black with brown head. Has a roasted malt, chocolate and coffee aroma. A roasted malt, coffee and chocolate carbonated taste. A sweet and roasted malt aftertaste.
2.9 Pours a black color with no head at all. Hints of chocolate in the aroma.Sweet, malty.
3.6 Can. Near black. Really nice one finger dense head. Roasty dark chocolate and coffee. Rather smooth and somewhat creamy. Straightforward but solid.
3.1 Poured out of a can and it developed a nice frothy head. Nice roasted sweet dark flavor.
3.0 Rated on 9-23-2016 at O’Reilly’s Pub - Fort Wayne, IN (Can - Drink by 08/28/16). The appearance of this canned beer is a very small tan head, opaque dark brown body and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is roasted, malt and somewhat rich smelling. The taste is sweet, roasted and malt. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is light-medium bodied. This is an easy drinking beer given the style. It is easy drinking and has a bland taste to it. There is nothing very special about this beer.
3.8 Toast, malt, vanilla, fresh ground coffee. Looks like a stout should look. Black with a thick creamy tan head. Retention forever. Leaves a foamy coating on the glass. Glassy smooth. Toast and charred malt. Medium to light bodied. Hints of vanilla. Sweet finish. Damn nice.
3.1 Roasty malty beer with a little bitterness and not much sweetness. The oatmeal is understated as usual.
3.5 How: Can. Where: Viking Line Tax Free. Appearance: Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma: Chocolate, roasted malt, liquorice, vanilla. Body: Medium body and carbonation. Flavour: Roasted malt, chocolate, sweet.
3.6 This bottled brew from a beer bar poured a head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque black colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was malty. The semi-thick mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish mild malty aftertaste. The tasty flavor contained notes of brown malt and malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.
4.0 Tap - Looks good, pours black with brown edges, resilient tope head. Coarse lace. Aroma is coffee, roasted nuts, cocoa. Nice carbonation on the tongue. Roasted earthiness. Nice breathy finish of coffee and cocoa. Great but not elite.
3.3 Shared 16 oz. can. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malt. Taste is roasted malt, coffee, lactose, and chocolate notes. Mildly sweet.
