Terminal Gravity IPA

Terminal Gravity IPA

Terminal Gravity IPA is a copper to honey colored ale with a rich malt character and a clean bitter hop finish. This full bodied beer uses malts from Scotland, Belgium and the Pacific Northwest to achieve a slightly nutty lightly toasted taste. Yeast esters provide hints of stone fruits like apricot and peach, while hops from Yakima and Eastern Europe provide grapefruit and spicy notes.

4.8 Phenomenal. Pours beautiful golden auburn, more on the dark side of that visual mix. Great blend of hops. Some malt, nut, a bit of spiciness. Has almost a slight porter feel to it, but there’s a pleasant lightness. Just amazing in the blend. Goes down so easy, I could roll through several of these. Definitely a top IPA experience.
3.8 12oz bottle - thx Patrick - pours a hazy orange with tan head . Earthy hops with a faint citrus note . Taste is mildly bitter with a sweet finish . Nicely done .
2.5 "I’m gonna have to side with Travis on this one. Probably not the freshest of bottles, but since they didn’t date it, they can take the blame. Kinda stale, overall boring ass ipa. More malt driven with lightly fruity and tropical hops, but substandard. Didn’t even finish a 12. This was a shot in the dar, and it missed the mark."
3.4 Pours out a darkish amber, small foamy head, hops dominate, burying any malt characteristics. Biggest drawback for me was a dull metallic finish, and the flat hops bitterness obliterating any other flavors.
3.4 12 ounce glass from Market of Choice in Ashland, pour is dark amber, medium lasting head, somewhat lacking in the finish.
3.6 Bottle from Lee fridge. Pours a copper orange with one finger head. Mild hops in nose; more of a British bitter vs 'regular' IPA- same in initial taste and palate. Good to very good.
3.7 Tap. Pint in hermiston Oregon. Hazy copper with some head. Hoppy but sugary, dry but has a unique hop flavor. Maltiness throughout. Decent.
2.2 Bottled: unk A: amber and hazy with a finger of light yellow suds. These leave behind a cobweb of lace to a sheet of the same. S: biscuity malts with a overlay of subtle tropical fruits almost reminds me of pineapple gummi bears. Again, subtle. T: Bitter with malts. The hops are bitter, but do not offer a substantial amount of flavors beyond this. Standard hints of resin and citrus (grapefruit) M: Medium bodied (on heavy) with moderately hi carb. A bit much for the style. O: This beer is quite nice on tap, I fear this is a case of an old bottle, too bad I can’t be sure... Serving type: bottle 12-09-2011
4.4 Clear copper pour with medium white head, nice lacing down the glass. Scent is both piney and grapefruity hops and bready malts.. Nice biscuty bready malt up front with great hop flavor in the back. Body is a little sticky with a bitter finish. One of the best IPA’s Ive had.
4.9 If i could only drink one IPA ever again, it would be this one. It’s always better when i can find it on tap, but it’s pretty good in the bottle too. It has great malt complexity, and still maintains a strong hop profile.
2.3 Bottle. Pours orange with fastly disappearing white head. Smells very yeasty for an IPA and almost sour...has a very odd smell to being it’s an IPA. Has lots of caramel notes, definitely has a bready taste to it. Bitter but not very flavorful hop characteristics...just bitterness. Medium bodies, a bit flat, oily feel. Not very good, the only good part is the bitterness that it leaves in your mouth, other than that...the flavors just aren’t quite there. Would not buy again.
2.4 Tap at Hop N Bean in Sisters, OR. Clear amber pour, webby lacing. Nose is sweet apple, cough syrup, small parsnip. Taste is white grape juice, sweeter, metallic bite. Harsh cough syrup and parsnip come through. Palate is abrasive, vegetal.
3.9 Appearance has a hazy orange color supporting a fair dissipating head leaving fair lace. Smell has a nice balance with the citric hops and sweet malt. Taste having a bold upfront flavor of an IPA with the piney, grapefruit flavor with the sweet caramel malt. Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation.
3.5 Bottle at Beer Junction, West Seattle, WA, USA. A copper coloured pour with a thin white head on top. Hoppy, malty, caramel aroma. Tastes hoppy, malty, caramel, bitter. Decent IPA.
3.6 Clear copper pour with medium off white head. Nose is resiny hops and bready malts.. The hoppy front gives in to malty middle for a well-rounded IPA. Body is a little sticky with a bitter finish. Nice hybrid of British and American IPA characteristics.
3.7 January 2012. on tap in Portland, OR. Amber color with a foamy white head. Caramel, hops, pine and spicy aromas. Caramel, grapefruit and malty flavors. Plenty of hops on the finish. Good one...
3.7 Bottle. Poured a clear copper color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate earthy hop and English malt aroma. Medium to abundant body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.
3.3 Draught. Pours a mostly clear amber color with a moderate off-white head on it. Nose was decently hoppy and a little bitter, but without much of the specific aromas of the hop varietals. Taste was bitter, but without much character. OK drink, but nothing special.
3.3 12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A light fruity and malty nose. Mellow, some caramel, sweetness, light fruity hops, cardboard. Decent. I might be detecting some signs of infection, slight for sure in this bottle. Low hop character.
3.1 Light copper, clear, off-white head. Aroma of grainy malt with a little caramel, a slight buttery note, fairly subdued hop aroma. Flavor is malt-balanced with some caramel sweetness. Hop character is subdued for an IPA. Wide range of ratings for this beer, this may not be the best batch.
3.5 12 oz bottle: Pours golden with a nice white head. Nice citrus hop profile. Grapefruit notes, some caramel, fresh hops. Crisp, bubbly palate, bitter but smooth finish.
3.7 Your standard good ipa with grassy citrus hops and nice mild bitterness. A touch of sweet balances it all. Nice.
3.6 Sweet oregon style ipa, light floraly light bitter finish and sweet, easy drjnkability
3.3 Aroma of piney hops and malts... Flavor is shockingly malty for a west coast ipa, caramel malts with notes of citrus and pine hops... Very similar to an east coast ipa... Decent
4.0 Pours brownish orange cloudy.. taste us bitter grapefruit and goid hopps..like it alot
3.9 Cloudy copper pour, pretty thick. Thing off white head, not much lacing on the side of the glass. Good hoppy and spicy aroma. Bitter, grassy, hoppy, and spicy taste. Awesome beer.
3.7 A strong and persistent bitterness from this Eastern Oregon IPA. Earthy at first then some tree notes. Portland trip 2012.
2.8 A very commanding hoppy presence. Typical IPA flavor. Kind of cool that they imported hops from Britain.
3.3 Tap at Wilf’s Bar & Restaurant (by Amtrak), Portland 08/11/12. Mid amber with a thin off white head. Nose comprises light caramel malt tones, hops, some vegetal notes, a little citrus. Tastes of bitter tropical fruits, caramel malt, touch of grapefruit, more maltiness, mineral tones. Medium bodied with soft carbonation with a bitter hoppy finish. Drinkable but not my kind of IPA - too malty.
4.2 Muddy orange-amber with good, creamy, white head / Rich, malty, musty nose of citrus, caramel, and pine / Medium to full body, chewy and malty, moderate sweet and biting, nicely mellow though although drinking late November, with good bitter finish / Rich, thick flavors of orange, grapefruit, soap, chocolate, pine, and caramel, / Has the character, although not the abv, of a double, and especially enjoyed its mellow nature which I don’t know if has always been there or is because I am drinking in late November.
