4.3 22 ounce bottle into snifter, 2015 vintage bottling. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, cinnamon, nutmeg, toasted oats, dark bread, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, vanilla, light char, and roast/toasted earthiness. Fantastic aromas with awesome complexity and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and spice notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, cinnamon, nutmeg, toasted oats, dark bread, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, vanilla, light char, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate roast/char and spice bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, cinnamon, nutmeg, toasted oats, dark bread, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, vanilla, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and spice flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet and spice balance, with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from roast/spice bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an incredible coffee/spiced imperial stout! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and spice flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the big ABV. Really great balance between cinnamon roll and coffee stout flavors. A highly enjoyable offering.
4.2 Pours an opaque dark brown with khaki colored head, very thick pour. Coffee, cinnamon rolls, chocolate, vanilla, and nuts on the nose; follows onto the palate. Full bodied and viscous. Finishes with some sweetness and nuttiness to go along with the cinnamon roll.
3.9 2015 vintage from trade with jbruner a while back. Poured black with a thin bubbly tan head. Aromas pop out with coffee, cinnamon, and chocolate. Flavor had cinnamon powder at the front for me, coffee mixes in, then is followedby chocolate and vanilla notes. Full body, oily texture, lively carbonation, and a nice smooth finish.
4.1 Bottle. Pours black with a thin khaki head. leaves some lacing in the glass. Big coffee notes on the nose. big roasted malt on the tongue along with the cinnamon and the coffee. Hides its booze well. Is sweet without being cloying, Nice example of style, Definitely a nice way to commemorate number 4000!
3.8 Small taster pour (ok, it was the last oz in the bottle). Dark, syrupy, cinnamon, coffee and roasted malt nose. Pretty good taste, but the coffee bitterness kind of conflicts with the sweetness.
4.1 Bomber->snifter. Deep brown with small tan head. A: strong coffee, some cinnamon spice, licorice. T: sronger cinnamon presence, with coffee, chocolate, malt, toffee. Nice.
4.2 1st off, the pour looks absolutely luxurious. Big near black body with big pillowy brown everlasting head. The nose is quite rich - more coffee and chocolate than cinnamon, perhaps a touch too sweet? Not to a fault, and the cinnamon comes out nice on the palate. I’d probably prefer the base, but this is great, too.
3.2 Pours opaque black with creamy off white head; cinnamon fruitcake on nose; complex with extremely long finish
4.3 Pours black with thick dark brown head. Has a sweet malt aroma with coffee and sweet sugar. A smooth beer that starts with coffee and changes to a sweet icing and with hints of cinnamon. A great strong aftertaste with linger coffee and malts. It is not that overwhelming of a taste. If a bi stronger, it would have been even better!
3.8 From notes. Bomber shared by AirForceHops. Thanks, Chris! Pours dark black, with a beige ring. Aroma is dark coffee, vanilla, cinnamon. Nice. Flavor is dark coffee, mild cinnamon. Vanilla oak in the finish.
3.9 Bottle 2015 vintage received in a trade with Joshua C. Black color without head. Aroma is huge cinnamon, mild chocolate, weak roast. Flavor wants to be a Cinnamon roll and well... It really is. Over the top cinnamon with chocolate base and very mild roast. Mouthfeel is smooth but the body is lacking a bit. I wish it was a tad denser in the mouth. Good but maybe you shouldn’t trade a whole lot for this. Expectation for me may have been a little high.
3.6 Poured from bottle thanks Airforcehops black pour with a nice red hue. Aromas of spent coffee chocolate cinnamon and vanilla. Taste follows aroma with notes of espresso and a lasting cinnamon.
3.5 Bomber from AFH, enjoyed a few ways enjoyed at fridge temp A - Pours a black with some slight red hues but overall pours fairly flat. S - Smells absolutely fantastic. Cinnamon is present and some great vanilla with a burst of coffee. T - taste, well it’s loaded with cinnamon from start to a very long finish. it’s borderline spicy. There’s coffee, there’s chocolate and a chalky fudge sort of espresso bean raw-ness. M - Dense mouthfeel, fleeting sweetness, good roast at the finish. O - I like this a lot but if they had added about half of the cinnamon, I’d love it.
3.4 Draft at the Irish Pol. Opaque dark brown pour with light brown foam. Dark roasted malts with a slightly glossy edge. Carob. Coffee grounds. Black liquorice. Cigarettes. Hazelnuts. Waxy dark chocolate. Cinnamon is only faintly there and does not define the taste. ABV is well hidden. Like it - but greatly preferred the Coffee Oatmeal version to this one.
3.6 Coffee and vanilla nose. Black, thin tan head. Coffee, tobacco, dry but hints of sugar glaze. Medium body, easy carbonation. Not as in your face as the regular WnB, but the coffee notes are still proudly on display.
3.6 Bottle. Deep ebony hue with a frothy, fuzzy latte-colored cap. Chocolate crumbles, day-old coffee and mild vanilla in the nose. Some mid-bouquet toffee notes as well. Cinnamon is noticeable more as a spiciness that’s as a flavor, though a subtle cinnamon component is there. It emerges more as it warms. Big (but aged) coffee in the flavor as well, leading into pronounced roasted malt that’s tempered by a sweet cream-and-sugar finish.
3.9 Poured a dark brown with a tan head. Aroma was big cinnamon, green pepper and roast. Flavor similar, cinnamon forward for sure, no green pepper in the taste but rather dark coffee. A little thin and mute overall.
3.7 22 oz bottle from Hoboken Vine, 1/23/16. Snow storm means sitting around, might as well make it beer time! It pours a dark brown color with a brown head and lighter lacing. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Cinnamon is light, but present, almost a Mexican style cinnamon, like they dipped a churo in it for a few minutes or something. Medium-full bodied. Finishes almost burnt on the mouth. Interesting, but I would have liked a bit more cinnamon roll flavor to come through considering the name.
3.9 Pours a dark mahogany brown with fluffy tan head. Aromas of dark malts, tobacco, chocolate, and a hint of cinnamon. Flavors of bitter chocolate, coffee, and some cinnamon if you strain for it.
3.9 Bottle shared at gregwilsonstl’s tasting. It poured a dark brown color with a brown head. The aroma was of coffee, roasted malts and a touch of cinnamon. The taste was similar to the aroma with cinnamon rolls, dark grains and a hint of coffee. Tasty.
3.9 Stocky and sweet with slightly ashy coffee. The cinnamon is present in the aroma. Not exactly cinnamon rolls, but good.
4.3 black with a thick, tan head; great coffee aroma; didn’t notice the cinnamon much at all in the aroma, but it really comes through in the flavor - not just cinnamon, but the whole roll - bready, roasted malts and even the icing; lots of coffee notes as well; like a liquid breakfast; fairly bitter; not at all sweet; dry, bitter finish; a really great melding of flavorsand a very enjoyable beer
4.0 The beer pours dark brown with a light tan head. The aroma has smooth roast, some sweetness, chocolate and peppers. The beer has a smooth body with soft carbonation. The flavor starts with chocolate, mild sweetness and just a hint of cinnamon. The finish has more spices. Very nice.
4.1 Sampled at gregwilsons tasting. With regular, French Toast, and this. I don’t taste much differnece. All are good. Cinnamon? Ok. More coffee and big stout. It is really good. Earth. Delciious.
4.1 Tasted at my variants themed tasting. Cinnamon. Icing stands out more than cinnamon. Lots of coffee. Thx Jbruner for sending this my way. No head.
3.9 22 oz. bottle. It pours a dark brown/black color with a medium light brown head. The aroma is very strong with cinnamon and black coffee. Heavy roasted malt and some lighter notes of caramel and biscuit, but this is really all about the cinnamon and coffee. The flavor is also intense with lots of cinnamon and roasted coffee. Surprisingly, it’s really not too sweet with strong roast in the finish and very creamy body. Not much acidity, thankfully and the cinnamon blends well with the coffee. Really enjoyable.
4.0 On tap, poured into an IPA glass. The aroma has a more pronounced coffee aroma than the standard W-n-B with a sweet cinnamon and pastry dough. There are secondary, subtle aromas of oats, and a mellow lactose sugar that pokes through every now and then (there’s your icing). The beer is dark brown-black with a dense, soapy brown head that has light retention and light lace. The taste is highly sweet with a medium light bitter backing note. The texture is chewy with a soft, fuzzy carbonation and a full body. The flavor profile is undoubtedly iced cinnamon rolls (cinnamon, sugar, pastry bread) with a finish that reveals a hint of oats, but is mostly cinnamon with a pine cleanliness. The aftertaste is coffee and cinnamon sugar.
3.7 Bottle. Pours out pretty much black with a moderate tan head. Aroma is of coffee, roast, some freshly baked cinnamon rolls, light sugary sweetness and some mild lingering bitterness. Taste is solid, a good amount of coffee, chocolate, some sweet cinnamon, light sugary icing notes, some roast, mild bitterness. This was really solid, but personally I liked the French Toast version better.
3.4 My favorite part of cinnamon rolls is the icing and I couldn’t find it in this beer. Flavor is dominated by coffee with some earthy ground cinnamon notes. Aroma also only really showcases the coffee. Was anticipating a heavier/fuller body than what was delivered. Decent beer, but had my hopes set higher.
3.5 Tap. Pours a dark brown/black with tan head. Aroma and taste is coffee, roasted malts, cinnamon.
