Terrapin Golden Ale (Cream Ale)

Terrapin Golden Ale (Cream Ale)

“With its golden hue and gentle complexity, the Terrapin Golden Ale brings refreshing to a whole new level. Its combination of flavor, smoothness and drinkability is difficult to find in most craft beers. Sometimes even hopheads like us want nothing more than to enjoy a beer that is crisp, smooth and refreshing. That is why we created the perfect session beer - the Terrapin Golden Ale.”

2.8 bottle @ Habersham Beverage / Savannah GA --- Hazy orange amber color, thin head cover, no lace. Appealing aroma of sweet malt and a bit of orange. Taste is malt that adds toast and dry grass in the palate, turning, first, mildly bitter, then, slightly sour, in a medium finish. Okay, but not much more than that.
3.0 Sample at Birch And Barley/Churchkey. Clear yellowish-gold color with a medium thin white head that recedes steadily to a film. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of fruit, bready malt and hops. Light-bodied with flavors of biscuit malt, fruit and grassy hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Average overall.
2.9 Bottle at home thanks to Brent. Pours a clear golden yellow. Light and refreshing. Bright and hoppy. A bit sweet. Nice beer.
3.1 Bottle from JenniK via ck1, thanks bro! Best by 11/1/2014 date. Pours golden (duh) with a bit of a white head. Aroma is sweet malty with some tangy yeast. Taste is sweet malty, somewhat fruity with spicy belgian yeast and some bread. Light to medium bodied. Finishes quite sweet and surprisingly long. Solid summery offering. 12.7
2.5 Draft. Pours clear gold with slight head, quickly fades. Aroma is wheat, hay, earth, faint lemon. Taste is mixture of those with some mild apricot notes. Does have a bit of a creamy mouthfeel but not a major component of this beer. In the end, forgettable.
2.5 This is what a macro would brew, a very light beer super drinkable with no real taste besides the faintness of hops with some malts.
3.2 Bottle. Light yellow with a light head. Super grainy aroma. Grainy but sweet.
2.7 Bottle. Golden in color with white head. Aroma of vanilla and hops. Flavor of hops, vanilla and lemongrass. Not a great beer.
2.8 Draught. This is one of my least favorite Terrapin beers to date. It has an off plasticy taste that i hope is from bad lines.
3.1 Draft. Hazy golden color, medium white head. Aroma of vanilla, grass, light citrus. Taste is lemongrass, more vanilla. Easy drinking.
3.1 Bottle. Yeast, light lemon, and slight Belgian note in the aroma. Pale yellow, one-finger somewhat rocky head. Mild fruity initial, light peach and lemonade / some timid bitterness in mid / finishes clean and a bit flat. Thin-medium body. Not so bad. Restrained all around. A pleasant sessionable brew, but I’d switch to something else rather than have another.
2.5 Bottle. Pours mostly clear golden yellow. Aroma is yeasty and musty. Taste is slightly sweet balanced with light hops. Mouthfeel is creamy. Carbonation is moderate. I didn’t really care for this one.
2.6 Pours a nice golden color. Thin head, slight bready nose. Light citrus flavors, tastes pretty much like a pilsner.
2.2 Tastes slightly skunky and yeasty with a slight biscuity malt flavor. Nothing interesting and not very good.
3.7 Orange color. Light bodied. Balanced flavors, creamy mouthfeel. Very drinkable.
3.0 12 oz bottle. Pours a golden color with a thin white head. Aroma of vanilla, hay, and bread malts. Nose reminds me of sugar cookies. Taste is of hay, vanilla, and earthy malts. Very crisp and refreshing. Definitely a good session beer, but nothing too exciting. Happy Birthday to me :-/
2.8 Average beer. Smells of pale malts and citrus. Pours a clear golden color with a medium head. Taste is on the malty side for a pale ale. Big, carbonated mouthfeel with a medium body, very refreshing. Overall this is a really good session beer.
3.0 Bottle courtesy of dad while in Georgia. Pours a deep hazy golden body with light white lacing. Aroma is light vanilla, grass, corn and grains. Mouthfeel is medium to thin with notes of grass, cream, vanilla, grain, lemongrass and light malt.
3.3 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a hazy light orange with barely a quarter finger head. Just a little head retention and no lacing. Corn is quite prominent in the aroma along with a very slight bit of DMS. Some wet grass and hay comes through. A little apple and orange up front in the flavor followed by corn and a little bit of cooked vegetables. Mild hop bitterness with a little bit of grass. Drying mouthfeel that is very refreshing. Overall, a pretty middle of the road beer but good for the style. One I would pick up on occasion if it were available near me.
2.7 Draft at lucky lab. Pours clear yellow with a small white head that quickly dissipates. The aroma Is kind of lemon and bread. Taste is sweet lager with some residual sweetness.
2.9 Not the best cream ale, though, in my opinion, this is a difficult style to make effectively. Palate is sticky and the body is pretty full. Golden color with bready and yeasty aroma, slightly sweet citrus flavor.
1.4 Pours a very light yellow/straw color with about a finger of foamy white head. Aroma is somewhat stale and yeasty. Flavor is not much better but is bearable. Not a great beer but if it’s all I got then Ill take it.
2.5 Sampled from the tap at 5 Seasons Prado. Pours a clear yellowish gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma seems a bit thin but does have a note of sweet grain and hint of hay. Flavor starts slightly sweet but grows to have sweet notes of grain and corn.
3.3 On draught at the Capital Room- Athens, GA. Pours yellowish gold color with lasting fine bubble white head and lace. Light body with slightly effervescent mouth feel. Early hop bitterness matched to mellow hop flavor. Clean light maltiness. A nice light sumer beer for Georgia’s killer summers.
2.8 Pours a clear pale yellow color with a small white head. Aroma is sweet, yeast, and bread. Flavor of sweet malt, some corn and with light bitterness at finish. Quite carbonated.
3.1 Bottle. Light orange golden with a small white head. Nose is sweet, lightly corny, bread, herbal hops. Sweet, grainy flavor, light fruit, apple. Pretty meh.
2.7 Draft. Terrapin’s first brew and still hanging around. Poured a clear gold/amber color with a two finger white head. Aroma of citrus and malt. Flavor was malty with a slight bitter finish. Eh
2.9 Originally reviewed: 8/17/08. Surprised to find a bottle of this still on the shelf at Bestway in Greensboro. Pours a cloudy orange-gold with just a ring of head on the top. No lacing. Slightly cloudy. Smells of honey-kissed breads, yeast, apples, and flowers. Mouthfeel is a little too spritzy for my liking. Like a soda. Flavors are of pear, apples, Belgian yeast, and finishes very spicy. The Belgian in this beer abounds. I was not expecting that. This is really isn’t what I was expecting at all. It’s boozy, it’s spicy, and it’s bubbly. Different.
3.0 Translucent gold with a dense white head. Medium body with some clingy oily adjunct character and medium-high carbonation. Aroma: adjunct grain, pale malt, german hops. Taste: adjunct grain, pale malt, german hops, and a metallic minerality.
2.8 Eh. The nose is hay a little corn/grain and very subtle floral hops. The beer is golden, kind of hazy, with a small white head. The taste is sweet with some grain and just a touch of hops. The beer is very smooth and crisp.
