4.0 12 oz. bottle. Pours an opaque black with a light tan head that dissipates very quickly. The Aroma is exquisite! Scents of chocolate and peanut butter are the main chords but there are undertones of banana and marshmallow too. Taste is medium sweet with flavors of peanut butter and chocolate, and not much else. But really, who could want more than that!! It has a full body with a smooth, creamy texture. Carbonation is average. And the finish? Well, it’s more of that fantastic peanut butter and chocolate, of course. Overall, this is a surprisingly great beer. I really wasn’t expecting that much when I bought it, but I am happily surprised.
3.8 From bottle. Pours a very dark brown, clear with a small beige head. Aroma has lots of peanuts, nuts in general, peanut cookies, light chocolate, roasted malts, light caramel. Taste is rather sweet, nutty dry, light salty, tiny bitterness. Average carbonation and a pretty light body.
3.9 Aroma; melted chocolate ice with nuts n caramel. Look; diminishing pale beige head and black body. Taste; black chocolate ice cream n coffee, cocoa, nuts, apple peel, vanilla, plum, caramel - and smooth finish. Feel; dry, fine body. Overall; splendid stout! [33cl.btl abv6.1% BB? 3.5 Dark brown almost opaque with a tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of fresh peanuts and peanut shells. The flavor follows the aroma. Tastes more like peanuts than peanut butter. OK if you like peanuts. The peanuts cover up the porter pretty well.
3.5 Bottle, from shrubber85, dark brown suede appearance, some tan foam, nose of cocoa puffs, malty milk balls flavor, some peanut butter cups, good malty finish
2.6 Looks good and doesn’t smell too bad. Body is kind of thin. Taste is real sweet on the front end and then fades to bitter. I like the latter part of the taste better. The initial taste is a bit weird to me. Not my favorite porter.
3.4 Bottle - Pours dark brown, tan head. Aroma, unmistakable peanut butter cup. Flavor was a bit deflating after such a GREAT smell. Chocolate PB cup, but with some dry roasted peanuts. Dry finish, but some hops in the finish, too.
2.2 Not good. Thin and poorly flavored. It does have good aroma thru the tasting. Palate is a little weird in that it lingers but it's not pleasant.
3.2 Pours adeep dark brown with a medium head of tan foam. Nice chocolate smell. Fairly thin body with some chocolate flavor. Not really that good. I couldn’t taste any peanut butter. Still better than DuClaws Sweet Baby Jesus.
3.7 Flaska bishops Örebro. Mörkbrun vätska. Doft av jordnötter, choklad, vanilj och lite kaffe. Exakt samma i smak. Tunn men ändå smakrik. Väl kolsyrad.
3.7 12 ounce bottle bought at the Casual Pint. Light chocolate with peanut butter. Medium to light body. Nice.
2.7 Bottle. Opaque deep brown/black. Fizzy, off-white head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of chocolate, peanut butter, plastic, roasted malts. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Chocolate and peanut butter may make a great combination, but not bitter chocolate, bitter roasted malts and peanut butter. Gimmicky.
2.3 Location: 12 oz bottle purchased at Verdi Mart New Orleans Appearance: Medium brown with decent tan bubbles. Nose: Medium roasted malt, hints of roasted peanut and milk chocolate. Taste: drier than anticipated. Aspects of chocolate and roasted nuts but also a quite offputting metallic finish. Body: Medium and silky Parting thoughts: The metallic note became less noticeable through the bottle, though I could have become accustomed to it.
4.3 It pours black with a small tan head. It has the aroma of peanuts & chocolate. It has nice roasted peanut taste and a wonderful chocolate flavor. These two flavors blend very well with the porter flavors. I really enjoyed this beer.
3.5 Pours dark brown with a minimal brown head. The peanut butter hits your nose first. Reminds me of peanut butter made from fresh roasted peanuts. Notes of caramel and chocolate. Slight earthiness. Flavor matches aroma. Sweet. Body is a bit thin for a porter. Finish is very dry. Flavor and aroma are fantastic. Very good.
3.3 Bottle @ home, thanks to homer321. Pours a dark brown appearance with a dark brown head. Aroma has a ton of peanuts along with toffee / caramel, chocolate, and some herbal notes. Dessert forward aroma. Thin body. A bit acidic. Moderately sweet and bitter. Tons of peanut butter and chocolate in the mouth. A little earthy and herbal on the finish. Not overly sweet like expected but I’m also not crazy about the peanut flavor.
3.7 Bottle at Craigs 2016 alldayer. Pours dark brown with a thin off-white head. Aromas of Reese’s pieces. Chocolate and peanut. Taste is more of the same. Thin finish.
3.7 bottle at home ... dark black .. thin tan lacing .. massive dry penut butter .. light chocolate roast malt nose.. dry chocolate roast ... big penut butter .. pink wafer ... dry chcolate roast ...
4.0 Bottle at craig’s. Pours black, nose is chocolate, peanuts, caramel, taste is sweet, chocolate, nutty.
4.1 Excellent all the way through until finish. The finish has a bitter aftertaste. Otherwise greatness.
3.9 Dark brown color with a small, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, some cocoa, burnt toast, and peanuts. Taste of roast, peanuts, some cocoa, sweeter finish.
3.8 (12oz bottle) Pours a clear dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of chocolate, marshmallow, and peanuts. Flavor of chocolate, peanut butter, graham cracker, and marshmallow.
3.6 A good combo for terrapin. Not as syrupy as Duclaw’s SBJ, and this has more of a peanut aroma and taste. Sweet but not overly so. Not too thick, because if it was it would be too sugary. A nice combo of sipping with food and a dessert beer. Tap
2.9 The beer isn’t as dark or as thick as I would like when tackling these intense of flavors. Also, the aroma is nice, but the flavor is more roasted peanuts than peanut butter. Great idea, but less than ideal execution.
4.1 Very smooth with a peanut and chocolate taste. Very tasty beer.
3.8 APPEARANCE- Looks black, but i think it’s very dark brown. Very light nougat colored head that has nice persistence and lacing on my plastic hotel cup. NOSE- Roasted peanuts comes through. Smells slightly like another beer I know is brewed with PB2. Malty sweetness hints around the PB. FLAVOR- Instantly recognizable peanut buttery flavor, that fades away quickly. Body is lighter than expected and feels fairly thin. I was surprised until I reread the label and recognized its a porter, not a stout. The body is on point for porters. The PB is NOT overpowering (which can be common in this style), it’s present to get a nice flavor then fades away slightly to let the light roastiness of the malt finish the sip. NOTES- Extremely well done PB porter!
3.8 2/05/2016: Aroma of chocolate and roasted nuts, a bit roasty; deep brown-black color, opaque; roasted nuts and malt fallowed by semi-sweet and dark chocolates with a dry, cocoa/bitter chocalate bitterness in the finish that sticks in the back of the throat (maybe that’s from the heavily roasted peanut flavor?), rich, roasty, lots of chocolate and a good accompanying bitterness, balanced and real flavors throughout; medium-full body, slightly thick, but smooth; this is a really good attempt at a chocolate and peanut butter beer that doesn’t quite delivery a Reese’s cup in a bottle, but is perhaps better in that it’s definitely more beer, less candy, and not fake at all; well done Terrapin! 12 fl oz bottle brought back from Asheville, NC.
3.5 Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a black color with a large foamy light tan head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was berry jam, nutty and roasty malts, phenol and vanilla. The flavor was dry, roasty, nutty and had a light berry note. long finish. Medium body. Tasty.
3.2 12 oz bottle. Not usually a porter fan. But the two words chocolate and peanut butter called my name. Not a ton of aroma on this but does have a pleasing hint of peanut butter, almost like a Reese's cup. Taste is similar. Pretty sweet and not much on the bitter end. Otherwise a nice dessert winter beer!
3.2 The aroma is a little funky, like opening a package of organic peanut butter mixed with chocolate covered cherries. Very playful. Very dark brown appearance with an appropriate sized tan head. Barely medium bodied with great carbonation and a decently long finish. Not too bitter for an American style porter. It’s not bad, but not my favorite.
