4.0 08.04.2015, 0,35l bottle @ home: Nice light brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich and sweet, chocolate, caramel, nuts, lactose, dark malts, vanilla, toffee, roasted grain, dark sugar. Taste is mild and slightly sweet, dark malts, chocolate, dark sugar, caramel, lactose, nuts, vanilla, roasted grain. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Nice and easy drinking.
4.2 12 ounce can into pint glass, best before 4/16/2019. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with awesome retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, cream, nuts, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, smoke, char, dark fruit, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, lactose, cocoa, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, cream, nuts, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, smoke, char, dark fruit, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal/grassy/spicy hop, and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, cream, nuts, toasted dark/brown bread, light smoke/char, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, lactose, cocoa, and light earthy hop flavors; with a solid hop/roast bitter/sweet balance, and no cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Lightly inreasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 6.1%. Overall this is an incredible English milk stout! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, lactose, cocoa, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Amazingly rich mouthfeel for the ABV. Very rich and well rounded malt complexity, with balanced lactose/cocoa nib flavors; and mild earthy hops against sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example. Best I've had for not being imperial.
4.0 10/27/18 Had with A watching UT vs. SC football & the World Series. Poured from can into a terrapin pint glass. Opaque jet black with a 1 finger bubbly head. Nose is roasty dark chocolate with some nice coffee flavors as well. Taste is sweet dark chocolate and bitter coffee. Sweet up front then moved to a pretty pronounced coffee bitterness. Palate is heavy medium. Not too much carbonation. Bitter roastiness lingers. Overall, a really tasty chocolate stout but not nearly as good as their “Moo-Tella” which is one of my all-time favorites. Excellent beer and can’t fault them for not delivering another Moo-Tella.
3.5 From backlog. Bottle from Systembolaget Charlottenberg. Black with beige head. Roasted malts, Chocolate, coffee and cocoa.
3.4 (Bottle) Black colour with dense, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, sweet liquorice, black rye bread, toffee, raisins and some coffee. Malty, roasted taste with notes of milky chocolate, liquorice, coffee, raisins, black rye bread and a sweetish finish with a mild cacao bitterness. Medium body, quite sweet. Tasty, but a bit one-dimensional and a touch too sweet. Quite nice.
3.9 Aroma is chocolate, dark malts and a hint of sweetness. The flavor is chocolate, mild coffee, slight earthiness and an acidic/somewhat sweet finish.
3.7 Decided to grab a single of this first to sample before buying a 6-pack. Paired with Thanksgiving Day turkey feast. What a wonderful combo! Not really a thicker stout. Let a couple other family members try a sip, and they all liked....even my fiance who labels most dark beers as "soy sauce". They liked the sweetness, and didn't even know it was a sweet stout. I was hoping it would taste more like "chocolate milk", but pretty much a standard milk/cream stout, but of course with chocolate malts. A lot like Left Hand's milk stout. Gonna have to get a 6 of this one day to get the real jist. The appearance and texture are nice and creamy, and flavor is solid. A good all around dark beer.
3.7 Really liked this. Pours dark dark, not much of a head on this. Lovely whiff of chocolate and slight vanilla? Taste is the same, with just enough bitter chocolate to off-set the sweetness. And this is a beer thar really gives you a milk mouthfeel. I think it is lovely actually.
3.9 Poured from can AROMA - chocolate ice cream APPEARANCE - looks just a bit light for a stout, lacing TASTE - cocoa, nutmeg, some hops, licorice PALATE- easily drinkable OVERALL - I would buy again.
2.5 On tap at a local sports bar. Served in a pint glass. Absolutely no head whatsoever. I don't know if this was because the glass was yucky, the person pulling the tap was new, or it's just the way the beer is. The nose was ok, and the mouthfeel was right on point, and the initial taste was fine, but....way too much lactose for my taste. Yes,, yes, I know, milk stouts are supposed to be on the sweet side, but this one was much to sweet for my taste.
4.0 Black with a tan head and a malty, chocolate nose. Malty and mildly-carbonated with a dry, milk chocolate finish.
3.5 Overall a very good tasting beer. Very smooth taste with a nice dark color. Wonderful evening beer
3.3 Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a syrupy, deep brown with a finger of beige foam that dissipates quickly. Big yoo hoo nose with whoppers, milk shake notes. When cold there are some strange copper penny notes on the palate but as it warms this goes away. Smooth on the palate, lots of cocoa powder. Lots of yoo-hoo flavor and a lingering hershey's syrup finish.
3.2 Rich, thick dark brown pour. Thin white head. Flavor is a little lighter than we would prefer, more toffee than expected, but the chocolate is there.
3.7 God men lite tunn!
3.9 Bottle 33 cl. Black with a little light brown head. Lots of chocolate aroma and some vanilla sense. Sweet taste, light bitterness with a nice chocolate end.
3.8 Drank 17-06 in Stockholm during the BBQ. Very nice smell. Typical soft sweet a bit nutty taste. Good.
3.8 Appearance Pours a clear pitch black, with no head Aroma Cocoa, milk chocolate, earthy, mildly herbal Taste Very sweet, no bitterness Palate Medium-full body, mild carbonation
3.3 Flaske. Sortbrun øl med fint skumhoved. Duften er sødlig kaffe chokolade. Smagen er en kende metallisk hvilket trækker ned. Ellers fin øl.
3.6 2 finger off-white head. Almost pitch black beer. Aroma is liqourice, dark rye bread, caramel, coffee and cocoa powder. Hint of dark fruits and that metallic note that I usually find in Sweet Stouts. Taste is dark bitter chocolate, espresso, smoke, raisins and vanilla. Smooth and pretty creamy. Medium carbonation. Low bitterness. Semi dry mouthfeel. Overall: Remember the first time I tried this at the beginning of my beer journey some years back. I thought this was absolutely crazy and couldn’t tell if I hated it or loved it. Now it’s very friendly stuff, and like all sweet stouts, doesn’t overwhelm you in any way. Out of the ones I’ve tasted so far, this one still comes out as the best though. Atleast it actually tastes something and it’s a good beer in this style.
3.9 12oz can at home thanks to Rob. Date says 04/17/2017. black color, medium big coffee-colored head. smells of coffee, earthy, bitter herbal, some milk chocolate, nutty, hazelnuts, quite nice smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of hazelnuts, light vanilla, coffee, milk chocolate, lightly earthy, some cocoa notes. finishes lightly roasty bitter with notes of hazelnuts, vanilla and some milk chocolate. lovely beer.
3.1 Can - Pours black with tan head. Overhyped, boozy Yooho. Meh. Chocolaty. Creamy, with hops, sorta.
3.6 KØLF 240916. Black color with a beige head . Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate. Flavor is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, milk, vanilla. Easy drinkable nice beer.
4.3 Rating #2484 - 2016.05.03 - Can at Bru. Dark brown pour with a creamy tan head. Super chocolatey, vanilla, molasses. Taste is very rich in milky chocolate, mild toffee/vanilla with a sweeter than expected finish. Nice depth with an earthy coffee roasty bitterness. Excellent.
3.8 Alkohol: 6% obj. Data ważności: 27.04.2017 Kolor: Czarny, nieprzejrzysty. Piana: Wysoka, ciemnokremowa piana zbudowana z drobnych pęcherzyków powietrza. Powoli spływa po krawędziach szkła. Na ściankach szkła pokazują się drobne zacieki. Centymetrowy obłoczek pływa nad piwem. Zapach: Ależ tutaj jest czekolada! Nie żałowali na pewno tego składnika. Mnóstwo nut czekolady, wyraźne kakao i sporo nut kawy z mlekiem. W tle delikatna paloność i subtelne mleczne sugestie. Tekstura piwa pozostawia natomiast wiele do myślenia.
4.5 Poured from the tap into a pint glass at Taco Mac in Atlanta. The appearance is a dark brown color with a small tan head. The aroma is sweet cocoa, malt and alcohol. The taste is sweet chocolate with some roasted malt. An excellent beer.
4.1 From can and cooled in fridge, served in iced glass. Very deep oily brown, moderate tan head without lacing. This got better as it came closer to room temp as do most stouts. Very "loud" chocolate notes. Mouth feel is normal for this type of stout. I have a 6 pk and will definitely finish them! Liked this beer a lot.
3.7 Pours black, creamy tan head. Aroma is sweet, milky, chocolate. Taste is pretty much like advertised, milky, chocolate.
4.0 This was much better than I was expecting aroma was definitely coa coa and chocolate. Beer poured nice and pitch black with a nice tan head can taste undertones that give it a bit of chocolate milk taste but not overly sweet or overly bitter comes out just right with flavor rich and creamy. I will definitely try this one again.
