A rich and full-bodied classic ale. It has fruit, toffee and caramel flavors and is brewed for the connoisseur to an original Welsh recipe.

3.3Weak aroma of woody malt ringed with cherries. Brown pour with a thick yellow head. It tastes very woody from start to finish with a bit of tartness at midpalate and a peppery bite. Pretty neat.
3.6bottle, dark chestnut color with good tan foam, sweet caramel and nuts aroma, flavor has a good amount of caramel but fruity and slightly sour, good esb
3.3A very nice ESB that I really didn’t have too much expectations for. The pour is a deep brown, reminded me of the color of maple syrup, slightly hazy with a scant 1/2" white head. Aroma starts out a bit leathery, brown sugar and a touch of caramel. Flavor has some toffee, green apples, and eathyness to it. Very nice.
2.91/30/2008: Welsh ESB pours a golden orange color. It has a medium to large beige-colored head that is floamy and deposits lots of lacing residue from the top to the bottom of the glass. The aroma is like sweet almond paste. The beer has flavors of amaretto in the front and then some green apple in the finish. It is dry with a moderately bitter finish. It also has a medium body and soft and smooth texture. This beer is definitely not a typical ESB and is just OK overall.
16.9 fl. oz. bottle (6% a.b.v.). Rating #232 for this beer.
2.9Dark red-brown with a thick off white loose foam. Grassy aroma, caramel, toffee and fruit. Taste is caramel, fruity and sweet malt, very earthy hops, grass, hay.
3.5Pours fairly dark with a nice 1 inch head with some lacing. Taste is not as good as the aroma. The nose is caramel and brown sugar the taste very smooth with a sweet finish.
4.3Certainly not your typical ESB. This poured a frothy white head of small volume to top off an excellent and very dark copper coloured body which, by the way, was very well carbonated. A fine aroma of both hops and malt treated the nose. Taste was just grand, with not a lot of hop but more malt and I guess the toffee/caramel as well. Mouthfeel was just smooooth, with a moderately sweetish finish.
3.2Pours a reddish brown with a thin tan head. Lots to pick up in the aroma. Caramel, dark fruits, brown sugar. Taste is not as great as the aroma. Dry, dirty earth taste is prevalent. Also some toffee and maltiness. Just a decent beer.
3.2Pours amber with thin white head. Aromas of malts, caramel. Flavors of toffee and roasted stone fruit. Slightly bitter finish but nothing too overpowering.
3.0Bottle. A pretty appealing color. Reddish, dirty brown with an nice looking khaki, medium sized head. Aroma was quite distinct; toffee, toasted and buttered bread, fruit, earth and apples. An interesting beer, quite unexpected. Pretty dry and bready; toffee, fruit with some earthy/spice in the finish. Some apples as well. Not the biggest fan of this one.
3.3Handdrawn at Cricketeer Arms. Really nice. Not nearly as bitter tasting as I thought it would be. Nice sweet toffee smell. Pretty sweet taste. I could drink this all day.
3.7500ml bottle. Clear dark amber with a light beige head. Looks to be well carbonated. Nice malty nose, caramel, toffee, earth and a bit of fruitiness - pretty complex. Malty with some sweet fruitiness, the earthiness from the nose is there but takes a back seat. Excellent sheet lace. The earthy bitter comes on for the lingering finish. This is a pretty solid brew!
3.2A nice ESB. Not too bitter and almost sweet with a rich butterscotch flavor.
3.5Draft at IBG (Lutz, FL). Pours a muddy brown color with a beige head. Nice lacing along the glass. Aroma is fairly malty with caramel and toffee notes. The sweet flavor is a mellow blend of malts and dried fruits. Very creamy mouthfeel. Slight bitterness in the finish, but not as bitter as you might expect from an ESB.
3.8Tap @ OTH.
Pours hazy brown with beige head.
Aroma is grainy with good notes of dark fruits and a fairly present malty nose.
Taste of sugary malts, with dark fruits, hops.
Is a lot smoother and sweeter than most ESB’s.
3.4On tap at Stubbies in Gainesville, FL. Pours a hazy, muddy brown with little carbonation and a small, thin white head. Aroma is apple cider, red delicious apples, Worcestershire sauce, caramel, and toffee. Taste is apple cider with caramel malt, toffee, brown sugar. Overall flat, a little bland, and almost sour. But probably the best ESB I have tried.
3.4Ginger, light hops and toffee like malt aromas. Color is yellowish brown with a foamy bubbly tan head. Flavor is roasted brown malt and caramel with some black bread, light dried fruits, and berries. Palate is mild and bubbly. Duration is fairly long and bitter. Good.
3.4Draft at Redlight. Wow, my first review was for a totally different beer. Must have been drinking too much that night. This pours a cloudy brown with a sticky white head. The flavors of brown sugar, figs and toffee are abundant, especially the toffee. Very good.
3.5Draft @ Redlight. Appealing red color with a khaki foamy head. Surprising berry aromas, strawberry, cranberry, chocolate covered cherries. Flavor has a little more chocolate than berry, but also a new fruit: cassis. Heavy lacing in the glass. Juicy finish.
3.4Hand drawn at CricketerArms.Poured a burnt copper with a thin lacing head.Nose was caramel sweet with malt tones. The flavor was crisp, semi sweet, fruity, metallic, and bitter with a hoppy finish.
3.8On tap at Oldsmar Tap House. This ESB surprised the heck out of me. It poured a reddish-brown with a great aroma of plum/ nectarine with lots of sugary red apple flavor and a managable degree of sour notes. Very surprising. Good beer.
3.5Bottle from Sams in Chicago. Pours a red/brown body with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet fruits, caramel and some sourness. The taste is quite nice; a smooth full grape and berry flavor with some mild bitter hops, some toffee and a touch of bitterness in the finish. Quite good, full flavored.
3.4pours a clear brown with a red tint, good lacing.
smell is of caramel, grain, roasted malts.
taste is creamy, malt, toffee, toasted nuts, a touch of grain.
2.8Pours a decent brown color with not much head. Aroma is a little flat. Some malt, some fruit, nothing special. Flavor is more of the same. Malt, fruit, some hops, but overall just a little flat. Decent session beer, but even the ABV is a little high for that.
3.2A dark amber color with a small off white head. Aroma is sweet with toffee and some dried fruit. A little sweet and not much carbonation. Not bad.
4.1This is a good beer to see how differently people can rate a beer. A nice beer. Nice and even malt to hop... mmmm..
3.6bottle. pours very dark for a bitter, a near brown amber with a thin off-white head. aroma of raisins, nuts, and sweet malts. flavor is very nutty with a bit of fruit. finishes fairly balanced, maybe a bit on the sweet side. even though the head pours thin, what is there stays around throughout the entire pint. a pretty good session ale.
3.4Bottle from Market Street Wine Shop, Downtown. Pours clloudy red with a medium head and decent lacing. Aroma of toffee, raisins and whiskey. Light body with a strong raisin taste. Decent.
2.9A light cloudy amber pour. Minimal head. Fruity light flavor. Medium body. Minimal carbonation. A tasty beer worth trying again
2.6Notes from last year.
Sweet raisiny beer. Pretty light in body with good carbonation and a pleasant alcohol taste. An ok beer.
