4.2 1/2020- A gift from the newlywed traveler and his bride! Totally unanticipated! Perfect brew for the ‘dark’ part of the winter! Just sweet enough to balance the innate bitterness. Darkness in nature is reflected in the pour. Rich enough to promise ‘Spring’ will return. ‘Wholeness’ seems the right description. Yum!!! (can I get a prescription?)
3.9 Black pour with a fizzy tan head and spots of lacing .... aroma of cocoa, molasses, dark roasted malts, toffee and dark fruits among with caramel malts .... taste is of toffee, roasted malts, dark fruits, cocoa, molasses and caramel malts with licorice .... some leather .... little bitter on the back end and sweet .... finish has licorice, cocoa and toffee .... solid beer for the style, good balance, thick, oily and a great sipper
4.4 Pours opaque coffee with a minimal head. Aroma delivers roast malt, toffee, molasses and subtle coffee tones. Flavor presents rich roast malt, chocolate, coffee, molasses and toffee - now this is a stout! Texture features viscous body and lively fizz. Luscious!
4.6 Black coloured. Choc, mocha, fairly bitter coffee, roasted malts. Excellent.
4.0 Can from the source. Pours black with a brown head. Aroma is roast, vanilla, molasses, light coffee, and some cinnamon spice. Taste is chocolate, caramel, vanilla, molasses, and a hint of dark fruit. Light roast on the back end. Medium-full body. Soft-to-moderate carbonation. It got smoother as it warmed.
4.0 Can, courtesy of mansquito, thanks. Pours black with a dark tan cap. Coffee, fennel, chocolate, bitter dark chocolate, touch of umami, dark fruit. Good body. Nice.
4.0 Can. Thanks ModeEngage! Pours a clear dark, reddish brown and becomes black as night in the glass with a small, thick, creamy brown head that lasts in a ring mostly but has some spots as well, laces a bit. This has that motor oil look and feel to it. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, caramel, chocolate, licorice, dark fruit, raisin, plum, dates. and molasses. Flavor is the same with roasted malt and coffee upfront, sweet chocolate, caramel, dark fruit and molasses follow and finishes with more roastiness. Full bodied, thick and creamy and smooth with a drying, roasty finish and just a slight warmth.
3.7 Can from My coworker, thanks: pours black with a beige head. Aroma is molasses, roasted malt, chocolate. Taste is somewhat bitter, light sweetness, chocolate.
3.4 Aroma is molasses, roasted malt, light coffee. Pitch black, minimal mocha head. Overly sweet. Flavours are on point but the level of sweetness is unnecessary. Mouthfeel is smooth, right for the style
4.8 Had one time, awesome
4.0 I bought this in VT while on vacation in June. Just got a late summer cool down with rain, so why not try a stout? This wasn’t available for a sample, so it’s a blind purchase. The pour from the can yielded a black ink stout with a frothy, tan head. The nose is dark, bitter chocolate. Taste starts out with dark chocolate and dark roasted coffee (think Starbucks), but a boozy warmth settles in. Bottom line, it’s a damn good stout. Cheers!
4.0 Pours a dark black color with a thin tan head. Aroma is coffee with notes of chocolate and lots of licorice. A full bodied oily mouth feel with a taste of coffee, licorice and a hint of chocolate and a light smoked malt finish.
3.8 Forgot to rate this one after my visit to the brewery in June. Really tasty! So they can make amazing stouts too? What a place!
3.7 Can from the brewery. Pours dark brown with a creamy light brown head. Tastes like dark chocolate, dark fruits, earth, tobacco, light smoke, and light booze. Medium body and low carbonation. Smells like dark chocolate, dark fruits, earth, and tobacco.
3.8 Deep pitch black coloured body with a large, three centimetre tall rich brown head on top that fades relatively quickly, but looks very nice. Aroma of roasted malt, oatmeal, grain, alcohol, light hops, a dose of chocolate, earth, coffee and some star anise notes - quite strong. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich malt and earthy flavours at first with a definite roasted oatmeal and spice note from the anise and licorice that ends with a good deal of sugars, mainly from the chocolate, lactose and caramel, but some show through from a vanilla and cherry finish. Aftertaste is deep and robust with the alcohol, earth, nuts, chocolate and fig flavours the strongest, but the super (dare I say it) luscious profile and rich finish make this taste more of an ice cream or dessert than a beer - this is thick and robust throughout, but especially at the tail end. Overall, a very strong and deep Imperial Stout that is good, but probably best to be kept for several years before cracking open, as I typically do. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, given to me after a hockey game by Jacob - perhaps also from Erik, but Thank You very much, regardless! Sampled at home in Washington on 30-May-2019.
3.9 Can. Thanks, Jesper! Pours dark brown colour. Beige head. Toffee and caramel in the aroma. Surprisingly dry beginning. Nutty and slightly caramelly taste. Rather medium bodied brew. Coffee in the end too. Reminds dry stout. Very cool and well balanced stout with pleasent dry palate.
3.1 Can (thanks Jesper). Black color. Small size, tan head, stays. Oatmeal, roast, grainy, cocoa, coffee in aroma and in taste. Drinkable brew.
3.9 1 pint can, thanks Jesper. Pours black, small beige head. Aroma is roasty, chocolatey, nutty. Taste is malty, chocolatey, coffee, cocoa, some toffee. Full body, average carbonation. Well balanced and tasty, alcohol is covered

3.9 Pours thick, oily black with one finger, dark tan head. Aroma is coffee, molasses and roast. Taste is chocolate and brown sugar, moving to coffee, vanilla and roast. Finish is coffee. An excellent stout.
4.4 Chewy dark chocolate, molasses, fudge, some coffee, a bit of herbal notes, perhaps anise. Full palate. Delish. Tallboy from Zoltan.
3.6 lots of roast. good lasting head and lasting dots. easier drinking. thanks, dave hunt.
4.2 Can at home in Hackney - not quite sure where I got it. May have been a trade, may have been gift. Pours black-brown with a moderate, creamy beige head. Nice charred malt aroma. Medium to big sweet flavour, with lots of toasted brown sugar, gooey chocolate, some liquorice, alcohol, ash, fudge. Full bodied, chewy, with delicate, massaging carbonation. Sticky finish, lightly warming, with more thick and rounded chocolate character, restrained ashy roast, burnt sugars. Great depth and balance.
4.3 Roasted malt. Darkly toasted bread. Something sharp. Black with a thick foamy dark tan head that fades super slow down to about a finger with a pretty thick coating on the glass. Smooth. Thick. Velvety. Creamy. Toast. Brown sugar. Toffee. Some kind of candy. Man this is good.
4.0 On tap at Doc Ponds in Stowe, VT. Opaque black-brown with a tan head and very good lacing. Aroma of chocolate, molasses, roasted malt and a touch of coffee. Taste of chocolate, molasses, caramel, roasted malt, alcohol and a bit of coffee. Full/medium body and medium/low carbonation.
4.0 Bottle at a tasting. Full body, rather high carbonation. Really rich malty dark flavours, chocolate, cocoa, rather light deep roasts. Intense, all over the place. Quite traditional RIS. Very good, very tasty.
3.7 Shared can. Da k brown color with medium beige head. Aroma of nougat, chocolate, dark malt. Taste, nougat, chocolate, coffee, dark malt, alcohol. Very good.
4.1 Plechovka. Husta cierna farba, nahnedla pena. Vona prazene slady, kava, kakao, prezrete slivky, alkohol. Chut vyrazne lieskove oriesky, kakao, kava, sladke drievko, alkohol. Vyborne.
4.1 Pours black with a brown head. Aroma is roasted malt with vanilla. Flavor is roasted malt with sweet caramel and vanilla. Roasted malt finish. Fantastic!
Bien faite
