A big bold Imperial IPA! The clean malt plays a supporting roll to the straight up Simcoe hops through and through that give this varietal hop bomb its bang!

3.5Bottle with Paul. Pours a clear golden body with thick white head and lacing. Aroma is soapy, fresh grassy hops and clean pale malt. Mouthfeel is thin, clean and soft with more malt character coming through than preferred, but still nice.
3.7"citrus, tropical and grapefruit hops in the nose and flavor. a little too much biscuit malt (no date on the bottle so can’t tell the age) prevents this from receiving a really high score. still very nice and an easy drinking iipa. thanks ggrumet!"
4.3From the 12 fl. oz. bottle received in trade from a non-RB member. Lovely medium amber pour leading up to a tremendous off-white head. The aroma is nicely hopped and full of toasted biscuit characteristics. Superior balance and inviting. The body is medium to full and smooth. Malt characters begin the consumption experience but then like a funnel the earthy, bitter hops trickle in and then abound.
3.8Thanks JBruner for Local trade.
Appearance was clear deep gold with diminishing creamy white 1 finger head, rings of lacing. Aromas are orange, pine, soft lemon and grapefruit with slight sweet malts and alcohol. Taste are orange blast out the gate with pine, lemon, soft sweet malt, then some warming at finish. Palate are smooth creamy CO2 with medium-full body, then lasting oily slick fruity, piney finish. A wonderful DIPA, but touch to much pine for me.
3.7Bottle 12fl.oz. @ home.

3.812oz bottle from Giant Eagle Market in UA. Orange pour with white head. Aroma is sweet fruit and piney wood. Tastes are toasty, toffee, floral, tea, pine, resin citrus. Well balanced. Leaves a bitter grapefruit aftertaste. Would think this needs to be as fresh as possible. It was - and was very nice. 7.6
3.5Clear golden pour thick white head and thick striped lacing ..... aroma of oranges citrusy, piney hops and chewy caramel malts ...... taste is of sweet citrusy hops and sugary sweet caramel malts with a bitter piney hop ... simple imperial IPA with nice citrusy malty qualities .... Finishes with a lingering bitter piney hop bite.
3.8Rating from very old notes - Pours cooper with a small lasting head. Citrus hop aroma. The flavor is straight up bitter with some citrus and herbal tones. It’s medium to full bodied and a very solid brew.
3.6A good example of an ever-expanding segment of American ales, this Imperial IPA uses a complex and flavorful hop (simcoe) and puts it on a pedestal. You get varying degrees of citrus, grapefruit, and tart green apple, complemented by toast and caramel from the malts, and the implied imperial levels of alcohol. I just wish for a touch more malt sweetness to balance out both the mouthfeel and flavor profile. Simcoe is a great, but left unchecked, it can overpower a beer. A good beer with a great hop, definitely drinkable, and hop aficionados will love it.
3.612 oz. bottle from my Secret Santa, umich03jm. Thanks man! Pours a hazed orang color with a small white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, mild herbal and fruity notes. Mild gum ball sweetness. Some mild lemon and earthy notes. Flavor is medium bitterness, high hop flavor, fruity and candy sweetness. Medium bodied with average carbonation, finishes fruity with a touch of bitterness. Very nice, well done.
3.8another bottle from Dr. Crackhead. yes, pours copper with a rather sizeable off white head. pine, citrus, some cattyness. big full body, light drying. as good as this years hopslam.
3.812oz bottle extra thanks to michcam8, thanks man! Poured out the Candi-Man so this should clean the palate, pours a hazy orange with a thick off white head with lots of lacing in the glass, aroma has a good kick of hops with a sweetness of malt at the same time, not over the top hoppy, the flavor has a sweeter than expected front end with a dry and fruity finish, not overly bitter but smooth through out, not bad at all, abv is well hidden, nice.
4.0Pours a lightly hazy golden orange with a large foamy white head. Aroma of orangey hops, tropical fruits and sweet malts. Flavor of piney and orange hops, almost getting a Christmas spice out of it for some reason. Nice clean maltiness. Aggressive yet smooth hop bitterness. Finishes dry. Well done.
3.4Bottle. Pours a hazy orange with. Little head. Nose is full of orange and grapefruit. Flavor us the same with a moderately thick malt backbone. A moderate alcohol warming but not a hot fusel burn. Pretty good.

3.6Bottle:   Bright amber, moderate foamy sandy head, fairly nice lacing.   Big citrus peel and pith nose, slightly candied.   Similar on the tongue, a bit more sweet than the nose suggested.   Not a hop bomb, nor a malt bomb, nice citrusy background that is a bit candied and sweet.   Hides the 9% ABV really well.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Strong sweet tea leaf on the backside, along with citrus peel and pith, a bit candied.   Not your average overly hopped IIPA, nor super malty, seems perhaps a 1½ IPA, but a good one at that.
3.5Bottle from Save On. Copper orange with lasting flat head and lace. Fruity old wooden furniture and caramel apple aroma. Medium sweet toffee fruity with medium assertive woody piney resiny lingering bitter hop finish. Pretty standard. Balanced. Drinkable.
3.3Nearly clear amber, with a short, quick, off-white head.
Cedar/Pine aroma.
Taste is spicy, bready, orange-sweet over herbal/leafy bitter.
Ok, but mild for an Imperial.
3.8Aroma that smells nice a mile away. Golden copper with a frothy head. medium sweet initial taste with a bitter bite at the end. Average carbonation with a moderatly thick texture.
3.6Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. Has a fruity malty piney hoppy grapefruit aroma. Fruity malty piney grapefruit hoppy bitter flavor. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter grapefruit piney finish.
3.0Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate grain, caramel, light fruit, and just a touch of citrus. It pours a transparent amber with a soapy one finger head that leaves behind a lot of sticky webbing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate caramel and light fruit. The finish has light-moderate grain with mild citrus hops. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Overall, really disappointing after White Raja...maybe a bad/old bottle?
Earlier Rating: 1/29/2010 Total Score: 3.9
Bottle: The aroma consists of mango and peaches along with moderate citrus hops, grapefrut, and just a hint of pine. It pours a transparent copper with a half inch off-white head with okay retention and decent lacing. The flavor starts with tropical fruits and mango. There is just a hint of caramel in the background. The finish has lots citrus hops with moderate grapefruit and some light pine. Medium bodied with mild carbonation.
4.1Pours clear golden with medium white head. Aroma is sweet bready malt with some floral and citrus hops. Taste is sweet bread upfront that fades into dank resinous hops on the follow through. Aftertaste is lingering bitter pine and grapefruit. Palate feels thicker than expected with some stickiness. Overall nice balanced double IPA.
3.8Bottle. Pours a hazy orange color with a thick foamy head that fades very slowly and leaves big lacing. Aroma is very hoppy but some very noticeable malt too. Pineapple, mangos, pine, toffee, caramel, grass and wood. Taste is sugary sweet with a moderate bitterness. Fresh hops with a sweet malty backbone. Medium body, kinda oily, maybe a tad overcarbonated and foamy. Overall, a bit too sweet but still very enjoyable.
3.7Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks good; a transparent full orange with off-white lacing. Smells and tastes solid; hoppy and malty with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Good beer, but I prefer White Rajah.
