The Bruery Autumn Maple

The Bruery Autumn Maple

This beer is made in the pumpkin beer tradition, except instead of pumpkins we used yams, and lots of them! A big Belgian-style brown ale of 10% ABV, this one is bringing pumpkin beers (or yam beers) into new territory.

3.8 Nice wine-style bottle, good label, schwartz pour. Spicy, molasses, slightly creosotic aroma. Cane syrup, smoky, maple, asphalt, spice. Interesting, pretty good. Almost a refined pumpkin beer. Market Square Liquors, Tallahassee.
3.6 Deep brown with tiny dirty white head. Spicy, caramel, syrup aromas, it really brings me the aromas of autumn leaves aromas with nice pumpkin accents. Light to moderate yeasty aromas. Taste is medium sweet. Odd, but nice one.
3.7 Barwa brunatna, piana biała trwała. Aromat i smak słodki, lekko owocowy, przypomina jabłka/gruszki w karmelu z cynamonem, melasa.
3.8 (Bottle) Pours clear red brown with big dense white head. Great aroma with ester banana dominant and peppery hints. Great palate - soft, full bodied, slightly sticky with plenty of gentle carbonation. Unusual and enjoyable taste. There’s rich caramel, peppery spice, alcohol bite. There’s a good balance between sweet and bitter with both being strongly present. Excellent unusual beer.
3.0 Bottle thanks to Lukasmh! Pours hazy thick brown with a small offwhite head. Aromas of malt, caramel, sweet potatoes, pumpkin. Taste is malty, light bready, light bitter, pumpkin, sweet potatoes.
3.7 Taster. Thanks to Lukeskywalker. Aroma of sweet pumpkin (yam) Ish, maple, red apples, caramel and ripe plums. Taste of maple, red apples, sweet spices, slight yam/pumpkin, caramel and sweet maple.
3.9 Bottle. Aroma: Cinnamon, spice, funk, fruit, caramel. Appearance: Copper body, mediocre head. Taste: Caramelly, spicy, marple syrup, cinnamon, some fruit. Palate: Full body, sweet finish, low carbonation.
3.2 Tap at Bruery, Los Angeles. Colour is deep dark orange with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Ripe fruits, dryness, wood, spices and malts. Interesting.
3.6 Pours brown with a large fading head. Nose shows cinnamon, pumpkin notes, brown sugar, molasses and soft booze. Flavours include more pumpkin notes, bready malt, brown sugar and slight grainy notes.
2.8 Red beer, faint head. You can smell the maple and there’s also a lot of toffee.
3.7 Growler from Whole Foods in Katy. Clear reddish-amber with a cream colored head. Aroma of funk, dark fruit, bubblegum, clove, and nutmeg. Tastes rich, lightly spiced and a little sweet. Fairly full bodied, quite smooth and slightly dry.
3.9 750 ml bottle. Hazy orange copper color topped by a large rocky beige head. Aroma of caramel, yams, cardamom and maple. First sip is sweet dark sugar, dark malt and spices. Sweet caramel and spice throughout. Hints of nutmeg, cinnamon and maple syrup. Warming alcohol in finish. Overall, a decent fall seasonal and a slight departure from the plethora of pumpkin brews.
2.7 Smells strongly of sweet potatoes, syrup, butterscotch, pumpkin pie spice and is slightly boozy. Brownish reddish rust color with a thin off white head. Funky taste, almost like a farmhouse ale. The nice aromas do not come through in the taste, least of all the yams. Metallic aftertaste with a booze burn, very thin palate. I really don’t like the way this tastes. I had high hopes, but was very disappointed.
3.8 It’s what you’d expect from a Belgian-influenced beer in terms of its malt & yeast qualities, but the molasses, maple syrup, & spice give this beer that distinct Fall seasonal character. Yams not too pronounced, but maybe I’m mixing that with the malt & syrup combo. Regardless, it’s a solid Autumn offering from The Bruery; decent price for a 750ml bottle and tastes superior to many pumpkin beers!
3.7 It pours amber with with an off white head. The aroma has meaty yams, rich roasted malt, Abbey yeast and nuttiness. It has a rich body with lots of prickly carbonation. The taste has more Belgian Abbey notes. Good.
3.1 Clear golden brown pour with a thin cream colored head. Aroma is sweet maple syrup, spice, bread, and booze. Taste is bread, nuts, sweet syrup, spice and somewhat vegetal. Some boozy heat. Medium body with some lively carbonation.
4.0 Tap at gravity. Mahogany with small head. Wonderful aroma of maple and spice. Flavor follows, with some apple pie spicing. Caramel. Really nice dessert beer.
3.7 Rdzawe, mało piany Dynia, imbir, kardamon, słodycz. Słodycz/kwasnosc, znowu przyprawy, dyniowe; średnie wysycenie, wchodzi ale gdzie syrop klonowy?
3.6 Sampel w Chmielarni na Marszałkowskiej. Aromat to karamel, landrynki. Smak słodki, w smaku suszone owoce, cukierki. Brak syropu klonowego.
3.6 Bardzo przyprawowe, fajna dynia bez dyni. Szkoda że w tegorocznym tak mało syropu klonowego.

3.2 Cloudy brown pour with a light beige head. The aroma is earthy with toffee and caramel malts dominating, and a sweet candied fruit. Taste is pretty sweet, with prune and raisin notes, Belgian Dubbel type yeast flavors and a underlying richness throughout. Heavy booze content, has some alcohol burn. Syrup like in texture, but not flavor. Yams are lost to me except for the underlying earthy notes, and the same goes for the maple, it was completely undetectable to me.
3.1 Hazy red brown colored body, with an ample lasting ring of head. Active legs. Strong aromas of banana, clove, brown sugar, maple, and yes, sweet potato. Sweet, but not to the point of cloying. A decent representation of the belgian style. Drier finish. As I drink more of this it becomes harder to stomach. Weird how this drinks better cold, generally I find the opposite to be true. I think 12 oz bottles might be a better option for this beer. I had to pour the last few ounces of it out.
3.5 Strong yeasty spicy aroma, caramel, bread, nutmeg, cinnamon Pours an amber brown color with frothy off white head that bubbles down and becomes a small head Sweet bready caramel flavor with plenty of yeasty spice, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice. Well balanced but a bit on the sweet side. Medium full bodied, alcohol warmth, high bubble frothy carbonation feel, lingering sweet bready finish. Enjoyable beer. Interesting flavors, good sipper.
3.2 Tap at Gambrinus. Tons of yam on the nose, with clove, cinnamon, star anise and cardamom dominating. Light-bodied, with tons of spice on the palate. Yams work pretty well, but just too boozy. 4 oz pour was more than enough.
3.1 Medium Amber with a slight haze. Maple aroma, moderate spice. Mild alcohol heat.
4.0 Draft at Country Boy. Pretty beer, dark red amber slightly murky. Full bodied and creamy. Malty taste dominated by yam and maple sweetness, with sweet malt finish. Nothing like a pumpkin beer, very interesting.
3.0 Sweet and sappy. Pumpkin and yams scents and flavors. A ham glaze type brew. 9/10.
3.7 Bottles by the glass from Salthorse, Edin. Rated from memory.....Pours nearly clear. Lovely deep reddish amber. Dense but short off-white head. Lots of Belgian yeast character in the aroma. A hint of sourdough funk. Banana bread. Baking spices....nutmeg, clove, cinnamon....No real sign of the abv on the nose. Smooth and richly sweet on first taste. Balanced, not sickly sweet. Bready malts. Maple syrup slick mouthfeel. Medium carbonation. Gentle bitterness. Again, the alcohol is seriously well hidden. Great Autumnal beer. Goes down easy!
4.9 bottle to tulip. a thick maple aroma and almost porter opaqueness. Smooth with the complex beauty of flavors expected from the Bruery.
