3.7 Amber pour with very little head at the tasting room. Nose has a bit of gourd, maple and bourbon, a nice combination. Lots of alcohol in the finish.
1.8 750ml bottle thanks to Darrel. Pours out a muddy water topped with a tan head. Nose is sour spice and sweetness. Taste is horrible battery acid this is so bad infection city. If this was not inflected it maybe a good beer. Toss out the barrels please.
0.6 Bottle: 2013 edition. Murky, turbid brown pour with a wispy, beige-ish head that is gone in a matter of seconds. Aroma immediately screams infection... Sour yogurt & lacto notes, green apple skins, lemons, vinegar... Only get slight undertones of weird ginger spice from the base beer. Does NOT mix well. Taste is even worse. Horribly infected. Sour apple & lemon with a bad mixture of nasty spiced beer. Could barely drink a few sips of this... Incredibly thin for 13% ABV, but that’s the least of my concerns. Awful. Hot fucking garbage. Will re-rate when I have the chance to try again... never thought this could be worse than the regular Autumn Maple. One of the worst things ever.
4.8 75cl bottle from liquor store in Costa Mesa...Hi Time Pours a slightly murky amber with little head. Sweet with yams and brown sugar, and moderately spiced . Balanced. There is also a fairly nice bready finish that is a bit like an uniced cinnamon roll- yeasty, bready. All in all, a pleasant experience, especially after the beer opens up for a while. It seems to get less sweet and certainly less carbonated- and breadier.
3.9 sample at Food Bank bottle share. murky reddish brown, tart, bourbon, oak, vanilla, candied yams, pecans. medium bodied. Interesting beer
3.2 Bottle:   Dark caramel, very dirty and thick, small sudsy off-white head, little lacing.   Soured nose, very faint autumn spices.   I was told this was infected and/or on its way, and yep, its seems a bit busted.   Does also have a sweet caramel and spiced yam background.   Oaky sourness right up front, slight notes of spiced yams, brown sugar, and molasses.   Its not the spicy Bourbony beer I expected it to be, and I understand the infection was not intended, but its still an interesting beer.   The 13% is well hidden, but I would liked to have the chance to taste the nice Bourbony beer that was intended.   Big lactic sour finish, which dominates everything.   Some aspects I don’t mind, some I wished hadn’t occurred.   Interesting even if it wasn’t intended.   Thanks Rob!
3.5 Hazy murky dark reddish brown in color... Aroma of sour vinegar, caramel, brown sugar.... Flavor is incredibly tart, notes of bourbon, caramel, brown sugar, yams, and spices... Probably one of the better overtly infected BA beers I've had...
2.9 Bottle thanks to Will! Pours a cloudy orange red with small off white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is maple, oak, and tart. Light booze and rye with tart finish. Somethings off with this one.
3.8 dark reddish color. Bourbony oak, and spices on the nose almost competing with each other. The bourbon nicely compliments the beer and accentuates the spices of the beer nicely, and adds an awesome vanilla character.
3.4 Tap at The Bruery thanks to BMan1113VR! Pours clear deep ruby, nice lower foam. Nose is cherry candies, big twizzlers. Taste is bigger spiced yam, denser sweet potato comes through in a barleywine type of base beer. Heavy dessert beer density. Not cloying though with some good flavors detracting from all the sugar.
3.5 Bottle from fullobs. ’11 bottle on Thanksgiving ’13. Cloudy toffee brown. Boozy bourbon dominated nose with some earthy gourd/sweet potatoes. Booze, earthy gourd, some rye spice and worthiness, and very light pumpkin spice, more booze. Worked good with a combo pumpkin/pecan pie but a little was enough. Just too boozy, unbalanced, and not as rich and full on palate as I expected. We didn’t come close to finishing the bottle between 4. Shame.
4.5 Had this on Thanksgiving. 750ml bottle from the Bruery. Pours reddish brown. Well balanced aromas of toasty malts, wood, Bourbons, and caramels. Slight wood sourness along with all the mild sweet malts, Bourbon, and toffee. Perfect balanced flavors. Finishes with a bite and is warming. Very good!
3.6 Wow! This beer knocked me on my ass! It wasn’t what I expected at all. Super sweet, with hints of raisins, resin, and syrup. Very complex and the alcohol content is hidden nicely. Highly recommend!
4.2 2013 bottle. Oddly sour nose of vinegar, sour mash, spiced yams, caramel, some burnt sugar, and light oak. Pours a slightly hazy dark ruby-brown with no head. Delicious taste of maple syrup, moderate bourbon that provides the right amount of booze, sweet brown sugar, toffee, and light caramel. Medium body that holds on well to the barrel-aging. A gorgeous beer all around.
3.8 Pours dark thick pumpkin amber with a smaller beige head. Aroma brings big earthy yams with a subtle spicy sweetness. Flavor brings the earthy yams with a unique off sweetness and some malty amber endings. There is spice from the rye casks as well, especially lingering on the palate.
4.2 750 ml bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a beige head. Aroma is big bourbon and maple syrup. Taste is more of the same. Thick and boozy. Delicious.
4.4 My buddy Mike was so generous in sharing this with me. I love the yam/pumpkin thing. The yam isn’t so in your face. Pours a hazy amber with no head. Nose is bourbon, fresh wood, candied yams, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, booze and ripe fruits. Flavor is mild bourbon, earthy wood, sweet yams, slight musty oxidation, aromatic pumpkin pie spices, huge sweet malt backbone, rich chocolate covered cherries. One of the best barrel aged beers I have ever had.The barrel characteristics really dominate. Rich creamy caramel and wood. Medium body. Very good.
3.9 Bottle. Pours murky opaque brown with a small tan head that dissipates fairly quickly and leaves some lacing. Aroma is bourbon and very malty - toffee, molasses, dried fruits. Flavor is much the same, really seems like a different beer than the original with the tannic yamminess fading into the background to be replaced with a bourbon maltiness. A bit of spices still show through to provide some complexity. Medium sweet, some woodiness but no real astringence. Full body, creamy. Quite tasty.
4.1 Bottle 750ml @ The Bruery, Placentia, CA Pours clear dark brown with a few off-white bubbles. Aroma has notes of malt, toffee, alcohol, bourbon, vanilla, oak, cinnamon and nutmeg. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long warm, oak, vanilla and toffee finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is flat.
4.0 Bottle at the taproom. Slightly hazy, amber in color, more or less headless. Woody, light vanilla aroma with maple syrup and caramel. Not as much alcohol as in the other Autumn Maples. Sweet, warming and full bodied, with maple syrup, caramel, some woody hints and a spiced touch. Really wonderful this one. Would certainly like more of it. 130811
4.0 Bottle at The Bruery. Pours amber with a small off white head. Aroma is spicy with some malt, caramel, biscuits and caramelized apple. Flavor is sweet and malty with some spices, grains, printed and dried fruits. Full body, average carbonation.
3.9 2011 version bottle. Pours a thick, viscous black. Had to check if this was really Autumn Maple. Aroma is barrel vanilla, slight spice and some clove. Taste is barrel and yam all the way. The spices are muted and make the barrel play a key role. Nice stuff.
3.8 This is really nice. Bourbon-Thanksgiving aroma. Yeah. Works well. Yams and squash out in force. Booze massages the back of my throat as Fall spices and bourbon do the heavy lifting. Nice balance of flavors here. Delicious!
3.9 Very very different beer, Sweet and sour flavours mixed very differently. Head is small, flawing pieces inside of amber colour liqiud. Nice sweet and malty flav... Very nice beer. Tasted at Belgium.
3.7 Tasted in 2009 (backlog). Brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is maple, leaves, cinnamon and wood. Taste is maple, malt, wood.
3.4 Pours deep brown and stays that way with a small off white head. Nose is vanilla, pumpkin and yams, little soy sauce and wood. Taste is sweet, with very little bitter, the barrel took this beer in the wrong direction imo. I know ba beers should be sweet but this one is just to much so. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean, body is heavy and the finish is long.
3.9 30 nov 3012, bottle. Dark amber and faintly cloudy. Nose is really sweet maple, faint bacon (?), faintest of tartness. Thin body but syrupy at the end, faintly fizzy. Sugary cereal malt, maple syrup, raisins, sugary alcohol. Wow.
3.8 This one poured a murly brown color with a beige head. Aroma was a good amount of bourbon, some brown sugar and yams, lots of caramel too. Flavor was pretty sweet, lots of bourbon taste, but not much in the way of burn, brown sugar and maple blend well with the bourbon and the yams make a slight appearance as well. Solid.
3.9 Bottle thanks to drowland’s going away tasting (previously thought it was the normal, informed it was barrel aged). Pours a murky honey amber color with thin tan head and light lacing. Aroma of maple syrup, roasted malt, and spices. Taste is like breakfast oatmeal with maple syrup on top. Nice beer overall with good balance.
4.0 Murk brown pour. Small tan head that quickly recedes. Nice aroma of bourbon, oak, maple, holiday spices and molasses. Flavor is yam, bourbon, spices and a little bit of maple. The flavors are well integrated and sweet. Alcohol heat and big oak dry out the sweetness on the finish. Medium to full body with ample carbonation. A totally different beer than the regular autumn maple. Yum!
