3.6 I had this at Global Brew. Pours gold with a white head. Taste citrus, fruity, and hops. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.
3.9 On tap at the Bruery. Clear golden pour with a small white head. Nose is a mix of sweet and hoppy bitter. Flavor is clean - citrus, grass, yeast, bitter finish. Solid.
3.9 Orange-copper color with white head. Aroma is citrus, tangerines, a bit peppery-herbal spices. Taste is citrus and tangerine hoppy, fruit jam, some alcoholic sweetness (but not too boozy). Soft mouthfeel and carbonation. An excellent Imperial Lager, I am impressed!
3.7 Draft at the Bruery. Pours hazy gold with a fizzy off white head. Tastes like hop resin, grapefruit, and toasted malt. Medium body and low carbonation. Smells like hop resin, light grapefruit, and light citrus hops.
4.2 Draft. Clear light gold with a big soapy white head. Lots of citrus and tropical fruit throughout in taste and aroma with a little toasted grain as a backbone. Definitely comes across as a lager but with a tremendous amount of flavor. Creamy mouthfeel. Really excellent.
3.4 On tap at Thirsty Monk. Lemon and spice aroma. Pleasant fruity and floral (and soapy) taste with lager crisp finish. Light smooth body. Good.
3.6 [2/21/15] Draught at Toronado in San Diego. Clear golden. Lovely hoppy aroma with lots of tropical fruits and citrus. Hoppy flavor with nice fruitiness and a bitter finish. Light to medium-bodied. Very nice.
3.8 On tap at Hops & Pie. Gold and clear appearance with a white head. Aroma of fresh hops, citrus zest, tropical fruits and light husky, toasty grains. Medium body with a nice smooth feel. Nicely done, an excellent lager and a nice quaffer.
3.8 On tap at the Bruery. Aroma has a nice, crisp, fairly strong citrus hop character with light tropical fruit and pine resin. Light grain malt notes and clean yeast character. Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head with decent retention. Medium light lacing and light legs. Light grain character in the flavor with hints of biscuit and toasted bread. Moderate hop bitterness with moderate hop notes of citrus, pine resin and a touch of wood and floral hop notes. Light alcohol spice and clean yeast. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice, hoppy imperial lager. I would prefer fruitier hop notes, especially in the flavor but its really easy drinking.
3.4 On draft. Aroma of hops, then a bit of the more familiar lager. Hmm! Flavor is of a burst of hops, pilsner style, then some juicy wet grass. Finishes sticky. Nice!
4.5 "Te description does not really reflect the greatness that was this brew. This is Pliny in lager form plain and simple. But for a slightly lighter feel (and maaaaybe a tiny tiny bit lighter but otherwise identical aroma and flavor) you can just about copy and paste the Pliny reviews over here. Absolutely stunned by this one."
3.5 Draft pour at the Toronado tasting event. Pours a super cloudy yellow color. Bitter floral hop aroma. Really hoppy lager with a decent bitter finish. This is a good beer for sure, but wouldn’t really call it great. Enjoyed it for sure.
4.2 on tap at black back, waterbury. unclear bright golden pour with a creamy and ffrothy whtie head offering excellent retention and strong lacing. bright citrus, whole cones, herbal-grassy nobleness, gentle pine, weed, very lightly toasted maltiness - specialty, lagering fruitiness surprisingly making its way through the massive fragrant hop bill - peaches, apricots, clementines. average carbonation, light body - oily, surprisingly dry and crisp citrusy-herbal-grassy finish. balanced and very tasty. my first non-BA or perhaps hoppy lower abv brew from the bruery - for the third time, i’m surprised if not flabbergasted. dangerous drinkability.
3.1 Tap, gold pour, white head, nose is citrus, taste is citrus, overall smooth and slightly bitter.
4.1 Hazy golden yellow with tan head. Tap. Clean citrus aroma. Slightly sweet juicy malt flavors. Crisp lager with clean hoppy citrus finish. Pleasure to drink from start to finish.
3.3 Beer Bloggers Conference - San Diego - Big hoppy lager. I get the hops I get the lager. It is rich full of hoppy flavors.
3.6 Draft @ Good Karma, San Jose. Light haze in a gold liquid. Aroma is big citrus and hints of cat pee. Citra hops? Am I right with the Citra? Lots of fruit aromas. Body and mouthfeel is right for the style, light bitterness. The flavor is rather good for the style. Lots of fruity citrus balanced with biscuit / dough malt. Crisp finish with nice tropical fruit flavor. Really simple to drink could border on the IPA style.
4.6 Floral nectar nose, light bready malts hiding in background. Strong herbaceous and floral hops start the flavor off, followed by layers of citrus, cracker, biscuit, and a sticky, resinous, dank finish. Seriously phenomenal on every level imaginable.
3.7 On tap at BGH. Pretty good. Strong. Subtle on the nose but hoppy and smooth overall.
3.5 Cloudy pale yellow with a light, white head. Big fresh grass nose, hay, slightly floral. Big bitterness upfront, some mild sweetness. Very alcoholic for a 7% beer, pretty light oily body. Pretty strongly acidic. Not terribly well balanced, pretty good.
4.0 Draft at stone. Clear, light gold. Sweet, hoppy and lots of citrus and tropical fruits. Similar flavors. Great.
4.1 Growler thanks to Will. Pours a clear gold with small frothy white head that lasts. The aroma is strong wheat grass and corn. Medium mouthfeel with nice wheat grass, floral hop lingering bitter finish. Yes.
4.1 On tap at Parry's. Pours a cloudy golden body with a medium white head. Aroma is of fresh hops and pine. Tastes of hops and light caramel.
4.3 A very drinkable lager. Nice combination of hops and malts. Hops shine here and the flavors of citrus and malt are complimentary. A nice session ale.
3.8 On draft at Flanny’s during a tap takeover. A bold ripe-grapefruit aroma is accompanied by citrus-heavy hops and wet oranges. Cloudy light orange in color and topped by a thick white head. Pleasantly bitter upon the first sip with lemon and grapefruit tones joined by light fresh-mown alfalfa. Light body with a woody texture and very dry abrupt finish. Yum!
3.4 On tap at rustico, pours yellow with big fluffy white head. Aroma is mostly floral and pine bitter. Taste is heavy with malt and a bitter finish, weird style
4.3 On tap at The Bruery. Pour was a rather clear yellow-gold. Thin white head, good lacing. Aromas of fresh flowers, light pine, some light citrus and tropical fruits. Very nice. The lagered yeast gave a slightly sweet smell, but wasn’t in your face. Taste is very light bodied but full-flavored. The alcohol content could easily creep up on the unsuspecting drinker. More floral hops with a slight resin follow a light malt backbone into a crisp citrusy finish. Excellent beer for the style....for any beer actually.
4.0 On tap at Church Key. Pours a clear bright golden with lasting wisp of head. Aroma is lager sweetness with hop bitterness. Flavor is clean, with grapefruit, dank yeast, and slight lager tang. Outstanding.
4.0 Draught. Pours a clear golden color with a moderate white head on it. Nose has some slight corn elements, but has a very pleasant floral hoppiness coming off it. Taste is fairly bitter, yet remains crisp and fresh. Really pleasant beer.
