An English Barleywine aged in Bourbon barrels, Mash is an intense yet balanced beer with notes of burnt caramel, toasted bread, ripe pear, dried figs, vanilla, toasted coconut and finishes with oak tannin. 4.0 Dégustée le 2017-10-06. .
3.0 Smells of wet dog, and taste is semi-sweet/sour. The abv is a plus and a warning reason to drink the brew. Palate is tart cherry, strawberryish and the malty finish saves this concoction. Not my fav but it is a decent mid-week pour.
4.2 Rating #2548 - 2016.05.05 - Draught at Bruery event at Bainbridge during CBC in Philly Hazy orange-brown pour, bubbly head, not much lacing. Aroma is hot, alcohol, pastry dough, burnt sugar, orange rind. Taste is a bit boozy, tempered with burnt sugar sweetness, and some earthy, molasses, and chalky bitter notes.
3.4 Unique flavor but not sure that I like this style overall. Not worth $20/bottle.
4.2 Flaska från Beergium, vintage 2015. Mörkbrun, halvmurken med litet beige/brun/vitt skum. Stor, söt doft av torkad frukt, bourbon, kandisocker, lönnsirap, banankola, banana skids, bränt socker, nötiga toner, kolaremmar och en lätt laktostouch. Stor, maffig kropp.

4.0 Bottle@Bottle Shop, Bjerringbro. Pours dark amber with an off white head. Aroma and taste is malt, bourbon, caramel, dark dried fruits, wood, vanilla. Full body. Soft carbonation. Oily texture. Nice fruity finish.
2.2 Definitely some caramel and fruit notes complemented by a slight bourbon undertone and some woody nuances. However, the beer was so tangy and acidic as to be off-putting. Honestly, my first thought was that it must have been infected, though both bottles our group opened were identical. Others have commented on the tang without believing it to be a problem. However, no appropriate English-style barleywine should have that character. Although I generally love The Bruery’s products, due to its acidity this beer was hugely disappointing.

3.8 Bottle. Moderate to heavy roasted, caramel and bread for the malt, moderate orange for the hops, light dough for the yeast, with date, fig and maple syrup in the background. Head is small, frothy, white with fair lacing and good legs, and is mostly lasting. Color is clear burgundy. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately to heavily acidic and lightly bitter. Palate is medium to full, syrupy with a soft to lively carbonation and a moderately alcoholic finish. A lot of depth and complexity, but nothing over the top in this Barley Wine.
