The Bruery Orchard White

The Bruery Orchard White

Orchard White is our Belgian-style witbier. We brew it with unmalted flaked wheat, oats, malted barley, corriander, orange peel, and lavender. This is a thirst-quenching beer that will be a year-round offering.

3.5 19th December 2010 Hazy pale gold beer, big white head. Light crispy palate, semi dry. Aromatic beer, seamlessly blended mild citrus, minty spice and floral sweetness. Finishes dry . Nice beer but perhaps better drunk on a summers day rather than a freezing cold night!
2.9 5 Oct 2012, bottle. faintly murky yellow, no bubbles. nose reminds me of a nice saki, slightly watery, faint vinegar. thin body and almost flat. tastes like flat, cold saki. not much here. this is an old bottling. it was green glass and it was a very low fill (top 1/4 of the bottle was empty).
3.4 Poured from a 750 ml into a cervoise goblet. A: Pours a clear dark straw with a very fluffy two finger. Nice lace down the glass. S: Bubblegum yeast with some peppery spiciness. Sweet flowery notes and a faint hint of light citrus peel. T: A little watered down, but there is some nice flower and some grassy vine. The yeasty notes from the nose are present as well, but there wasn’t any of that peppery spice I got from the nose. M: A little thin and watered down, but still employed some flowery notes. O: The mouthfeel hurt this beer. I felt like the yeast wasn’t as present in the taste. Overall still a decent beer though. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 09-18-2011
3.4 The poor results it lots of foamy head. A light beer that would be delicious on a hot summer day. I taste a lot of lemon, which seems to overpower the rest of the beer in my opinion, but still tasty. I’m glad I tried the beer, but the Bruery is expensive by the time it makes it to Indiana, so I’m not sure I’d buy it again.
3.2 Been saving bottle, perhaps to share with family on this staggeringly beautiful night. Pours sunshine copper with a foamy, explosive head two-to-three fingers in length. Tastes and smells of citrus zest, retired Belgian yeast, instant porridge, sour grass, white pepper with hints of fried potatoes, cinnamon and honey. I would’ve liked more hop bitterness, and perhaps a more reliable yeast character, but this was fine.
4.6 Simply. Amazing. Perfect color. Big, fluffy head. Aroma is banana and cinnamon. Sweet citrus and clove flavor. Wonderful, light body. Awesome.
2.8 Refrigerated 75 cl poured into a weizen glass. Pours clear golden with big fluffy white head. Little lacing, light body, well carbonated, and lavender aroma. Taste is tart coriander, some citrus, and finishes with some lavender. This is a pretty good beer until the lavender finish.
4.2 Pours a murky pale yellow with fluffy head with a touch of lacing. Aromas are zesty, forward and very floral. Im getting alot of the lavender in both the nose and the flavor profile. It teetering on too much but it is riding the line of highly enjoyable as well. Backed with some nice wheaty citrus undertones to counterbalance the lavender.
3.6 750ml bottle that poured a cloudy pale yellow color with aromas of banana, lemon zest, and some coriander, a classic wit beer aroma for sure. Flavors are wheat, lemon, some banana, hint of clove, with a slightly yeasty finish.
3.8 Pours a very pale golden color with a huge frothy white head. The aroma is spices, cinnamon, apples, lemon, and Belgian yeast. The taste is spicy, dry, tart apples, citrus, and some soapy/lavender notes. A very interesting Witbier. I’ve never really had anything quite like this. Good stuff.
3.9 A - Pours a clear golden-yellow color with a finger of frothy white head atop. The head fades down extremely slowly leaving behind some thick lace on the sides of the glass. S - Aroma is full of wheat and lemon with some coriander and other spices, yeast, and a bit of orange zest. T - Starts off with a mix of lemon zest and wheat with a touch of spice and yeast character. Through the middle, some stronger yeast and coriander and other spices come through with some more citrus. The finish is a mix of wheat, yeast, light spice, and lemon and other citrus zest that linger. M - Medium-light with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet, spicy, and yeasty finish. D - Very drinkable. Nicely balanced Witbier with some great citrus flavors and the right amount of wheat.
2.3 Poured from a 750ml bottle into a snifter. Appearance is hazy gold with an enormous white head of foam. Magnificent head retention and nice lacing. Aroma is barely spicy, I get a fruitiness from the orange peel, and a heavy presence of lavender. Prior to tasting this beer, I really thought lavender would work well in a Witbier. I was wrong. This beer was so overpoweringly lavender-y that I seriously considered pouring it out. If you really love the taste of lavender, or laundry detergent, this is the beer for you. I don’t think I will ever buy this beer again. It reminds me a lot of Leinenkugels Sunset Wheat in the fruity pebble-ness it portrays.
3.9 Orchard White pours a golden color with a small fizzy white head that quickly disappears. The smell is pleasant and is full of coriander, citrus, banana, lavender, Belgian yeast and wheat. Really surprised me for some reason. Taste is crisp and refreshing. It has more of a lemon presence that I didn’t really get in the smell. Mixed in there are the spices, citrus, wheat, and yeast. Like I said it’s really nice and refreshing. Would go well on those hot California days. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, smooth, and has a nice bit of carbonation. Another good beer from these guys.
3.7 A: Cloudy yellow body with a massive white head. Good retention. Decent lacing.. S: Fresh fruit. Lemon, banana, and coriander are the main accents to a solid wheaty backbone. Alcohol isn’t noticeable. T: Similar to the nose. The wheat base is present throughout. Lemon and coriander are up front, with a slightly yeasty finish. M: A bit fizzy, medium body. Dry, refreshing finish. O: I shared three bottles over the course of a few hours and couldn’t complain.
3.4 (From notes) Bottled, sample @ The Bruery (end of 2009). Not quite Belgian style witbier (lavender), but nice and refreshing, with a herbal finish.
3.7 (750 ml from Jason’s) Hazy yellow/light gold with very large off-white head that forms quickly and dissipates slowly forming a big lumpy cap. Aroma is spicy with some citrus and caramel. Mouthfeel is wheaty and oaty-smooth with some light texture, refreshing. Flavor of spice - thyme, coriander, pepper and others I can’t remember - over some light orange peel, lemon and caramel with a medium-light bitter pinch in finish. Light bitterness coats the tongue. Quite spicy but refreshing and not so much ABV that it’s wearing.
2.8 Bottle. The pour is hazy, light golden color. Big eggshell white head. The nose is floral, sweet, plenty of orange peel, peach, grass. The taste is very sweet, like peach juice mixed in with a wit. There’s some earthy spices an coriander after the initial sweetness dies down. The body is medium/light. The texture’s a bit sticky. The carbonation very active indeed. Overall, I can’t say I’m a particular fan of this beer. Plenty of flavor, but unbalanced and without focus.
3.5 Bottle at Craig’s house. cereal, spruce, pale, clear, minimal head, medium sweetness, light body.
3.8 Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. A: Clear yellow gold with a lot of carbonation bubbles creating a towering white head. S: Lemon and peppercorn with some yeast take the nose. Very zesty. T: Tastes as zesty and spicey as it smells. A bite to it and leaves your mouth warm thanks to the spices. M: Easy to go down despite the high carbonation, the lighter body helps. O: I was expecting a more balanced beer, but this won’t appeal to all. Very pepper and lemon tasting without much else.
3.8 Bottle:   Cloudy straw, huge rocky white head, lively carbonation, sticky lacing.   Whoa, thats a good dose of cinnamon I am getting.   Wit like spices are there, corriander, orange peel, but the cinnamon stick aroma dominates.   Certainly interesting.   Much the same on the tongue, spicy, but moreso with cinnamon.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full, certainly feels wheaty.   Spices linger for quite a while.   Interesting take on the style.   Comes across an Autumn like Witbier given the fact it has so much cinnamon.   Unique, different, and tasty.
3.7 Pours a very pale yellow with a huge, thick white head. Lots of carbonation present at first. Aroma of spice. Some sour citrus flavor, along with a strange spice bite (wife said it reminded her of apple). The coriander? Lavendar? It’s an interesting beer either way.
3.8 Bottle at Monks Sveavägen Stockholm. Pale golden colour with a frothy head. Aroma of herbs and spices. Taste is yeasty with light citrus.
3.8 Pale yellow in color. Light head. Smells spicy. Anise and clove. Good nose. Tastes great. Creamy nice palate. Little bit tart. Somehow manages to be sweet, dry, and tart. Nifty beer. Good to great.
3.6 Pours a cloudy deep yellow, huge fluffy head, no lacing. Intense aroma of basil, orange, apple, unmalted wheat, coriander, yeast. Highly carbonated, light bodied, creamy wheaty mouthfeel. Slightly sweet in the middle, the finish is dry, crisp, perfumey (lavender), and spicy. Not bad, but doesn’t quite come together like most offerings from Bruery.
4.0 Pours a nice hazy yellow, looks unfiltered and delicious. The nose on this one was impressive - LOTS of spices that closely resembles a great marinara sauce. The flavor was again, spicy with a robust hop bitterness with notes of bread and some malts. This is the perfect beer for just about any kind of Italian cuisine.
3.2 Bottle. Light golden, hazy, average and and mostly diminishing head. Moderate, malty - wheaty and lightly sweetish aroma, floral fruitiness and spiciness, some citrus and spiciness. Body is medium malty - wheaty and lightly sweetish flavor, some floral fruitiness and light citrus. Finish is average, malty - wheaty, and lightly sweetish, some cardbord and sharp spiciness. OK fruity aroma, flavor/finish is bit sharp and flat. Aroma and flavor/finish not in balance.
4.0 Nice wit. Smell is solid marinara sauce (herbal like lemon basil). Hints of various herbs and citrus, such as lemon and orange. Very nice. Poured light yellow/pale colored with a white head. Flavor was pretty similar and very refreshing. It went perfectly with a nice margarita pizza!!
3.7 The aroma is unusual for a Wit. It’s grassy and the lavender creates an aroma of grandma’s soap dish. Not unpleasant, but sort of funky. It tastes very nice. Tart and slightly peppery. Light body, but not watered down in flavor. It tastes like lemon and some sour apple is in there, but the only fruit they confess to using is orange peel. One of my favorite Wits so far. Very bubbly.
3.6 Golden pour with huge white head. Lots of carbonation. Not much lacing. Huge nose with light floral (lavender), citrus, and grain notes. Light body, bready yeast like gingerbread, spicy but not overwhelming. Slightly bitter dry finish. Would be less of a session than Witches Wit, Allagash, or Hitichino Wit. Less herbal but in a similar vein as the Albino Python.
