The Bruery Saison de Lente

The Bruery Saison de Lente

Our Spring Saison is light blonde in color with a fresh hoppiness and a wild and rustic Brettanomyces character. Lighter in color and alcohol than our Saison Rue, yet equally complex in its own way. Perfect for warmer weather and Spring celebrations.

4.1 750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/19/2013. Pours slightly hazy bright golden color with a 2-3 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, peach, pineapple, pepper, cracker, bread, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, peach, pineapple, white grape, pepper, cracker, bread, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, peach, pineapple, white grape, pepper, cracker, bread, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy hop flavors; with a great crisp malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent saison style. All around great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
3.7 Pours light golden with a massive frothy white head. Aromas of rye bread, citrus, honey, slight funk, lemongrass. Taste is rye bread, citrus, honey, funk and some slight lemongrass. Mouthfeel is dry and very sprightly.
3.7 Bottled. Pours slightly hazy, golden with a large, fluffy white head. Aroma of yeast, brett, citrus peach and spice. Slightly sweet flavor that ends up dry and with a hint of bitterness. Medium bodied, watery to oily texture and soft carbonation. A lovely crisp Saison indeed.
3.7 A fine spring seasonal, poured into a wine glass. Not much of a nose, but great flavor, body and finish. Would slam this with some buttered fish.
4.2 750ml bottle - This one is definitely a very nice saison and the fact that it’s got some brett in there to gobble up some extra sugar sure didn’t hurt the complexity of the beer. When popped open the bottle, there was a little eruption of foam, but nothing over-the-top. Huge, fluffy head with minimal dissipation...clingy lacing all over the place. The aroma was alive with notes of lemon, pepper, orange zest, floral, bready and what I can only liken to smelling an empty sugar bag. The flavor seemed to match the aroma blow-for-blow with strong citrus flavors, lightly herbal, funk, peppercorns, wet leather and just a showing of alcohol. And to my suprise, the bottle was gone before I realized it. Light, full of flavor, never heavy and there just the right amount of complexity to keep my tastebuds in wanting more and more. Great beer.
3.5 Odeur de saison (levure). Mousse épaisse qui dure avec une bonne persistance. Goût léger d’alcool et de brett léger. Certaine lourdeur au niveau du corps.
3.6 Sampled at Where the Wild Beers Are, 6/7/14 The yeast and spice flavor work nicely here. It is a little sweeter than average in this style. This is a tasty, well-made Saision.
3.6 "more straight forward than what i;ve come to expect from the Bruery. All in all it was a nice hot weather brew. light, earthy, with some brett making it just a little on the dry funky side. "
3.8 Floral aroma with orange & citrus. Clear pale golden with large long lasting white head. Light sour taste with a dry saltiness. Medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation & long dry finish.
4.7 Another near perfect brew from this place. I love saisons, this one no exception, great grain blonde and additional sourness and barnyard hay, but very slight. Such a good sparkling brew. Perfect on a hot humid summer day!!!
3.3 Color of hay. Hazy. Quite yeasty, spiciness, some bière de garde notes. The brett character is minimal.
3.5 Big bottle at Haket, Göteborg, on Saturday September 6, 2014. Storflaskelördag. Cloudy yellow color, white head. Fresh, spicy scent, yeasty. Fresh, spicy, yeast taste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness. Spicy, yeasty aftertaste.
3.4 Bottle @ Haket Bar. Cloudy golden with a tiny white head. Fruity and spicy tones. Fryuit, spices, malt and hops. Medium body with a bitter / sour finish.
4.1 Keg- very mild to almost non-existent Brett characteristics. Nice rustic, slightly rough around the edges flavor profile. Probably true to traditional/historical saisons. Hop levels are perfect for the style, very present, but don't overwhelm the flavor if the beer.
3.8 Bottle from Sugaya. Lemony, grapefruit nose, nice bretty funk is restrained, some yogurt there too. Bright gold, almost pastel, cloudy, with a fine head. More brett in the flavor, a bit earthy, grassy, leather and dust, and more lactic notes. Grapefruit zest still going. Crisp, high carbonation, somewhat bitter finish. Nice stuff. A but dirtier flavor than I hoped after the nose, but still good.
3.3 75 cl bottle @ home (WARNING: gusher!). Pours hazy yellow with a white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are lemons, brett, yeast, and spices - with a dry finish.
3.7 Pours cloudy yellow with low frothy white head. Aroma of honey, wheat, citrus, peach, light herbs. Taste is initial wheat sweet followed by a more complex fruit bittersweet, refreshing finish. Body is light and smooth with soft carbonation. Lingering honey and fruit.
4.0 Bottle at Antenna America. Aroma is good and fruity, Brett, peaches. Taste is strawberries and cream. Light citrus. Good stuff. Very easy drinking.
3.8 750ml bottle. Hazy gold with a foamy white head. Flavors are wheat, spicy yeast, light funk, citrus and stone fruits with earthy and herbal notes. Light to medium body, high carbonation, thin texture.
3.6 750 mL bottle from 2011. This has been a bit of a cellar cleaning weekend. Aroma is full of Brett pineapple and tropical fruit notes with fainter cherry pie filling. Medium, spicy phenolic notes with some herbal undertones. Light pear and red apple character and a hint of honey. Pours a cloudy, golden orange with a big, fluffy, white head of moderate thickness that displays a decent retention as it recedes to the edges. Light lacing and faint legs. Flavor has a lot more fruit character than the aroma with a moderate pear and red apple note followed by some overripe stone fruit. Moderate Brett character in the aroma with tropical fruit and a more phenolic, herbal and earthy note than in the aroma. Light phenolic spice and moderate bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with high carbonation; it did not gush, but the foam did creep up the neck of the bottle a bit. Low, but present astringency and low alcohol warmth Overall, a really nice saison but its just a little rough around the edges. If the flavor matched more closely with the aroma I think this could be amazing, but the fruit notes in the flavor were not quite working with the phenolics.
3.6 Tasted from bottle. Pours a hazy gold with huge white head and tons of lacing. Aroma is grass, hay, belgian yeast and spices. Taste is fairly sweet with minimal to no bitterness. Belgian spices and grains with a slight bit of citrus flavors. Medium bodied with a crisp and refreshing mouthfeel. Very solid saison.
3.8 bottle. hazy deep golden with two finger head. just a hint of brett tartness. a bit overcarbonated. light bodied with some mild funk.
3.9 Pale gold/yellow color with slight haze, large fluffly white head, and messy lacing. Aroma has strong grassyness, spices, and yeast. Flavor has nice funky notes, spicy belgian yeasts, bready, and grassy. Very good, a lot going on in this full flavored beer.
3.2 Tasted on rep at Links Taproom in Chicago. Clear, medium hue saison. Crisp taste with a little bit if a dry, tart aftertaste. Very delicious!
4.1 Bouteille 750ml. Couleur or translucide, mousse blanche dense, crémeuse et persistente laissant une belle dentelle. Arôme de levure, houblon, brett, côté un peu fermier. Goût de céréales, levure, citron, houblon herbal, légère acidité, légère amertume, brett surtout en fin de bouche. Carbonatation moyenne-élevée, corps moyen.
3.7 Strawberry blonde, this gal, a real personality on ’er too! She clearly grew up working on a farm but don’t let her pretty, girly clothes fool ya. The smell of leather, horseblanket, wine casks, and fresh bread give it away, she’s a damned hard worker. But, lads, she has a sweet side, floral and berries even with a touch of lemon and spice. Might ever get some sourness your way if you’re not careful. Quite enjoyabeer.
4.3 Farm barn horse blanket? Horse comforter. Yeast bottle hay easy drink. Bruery successful saison, will again!
3.8 pale blond color..substantial amount of head..aroma was slight spice mixed in the wild brett presence..bit of citrus..mouthfeel was the best part here..light bodied but has a more substantial taste profile behind it..really coated the palate well and it seems like the wild funk came out after sitting for at least year and a half or so..lot of taste character that ends with a solid dry finish..pretty tasty saison..worth seeking out and sitting on for a year
3.5 had different bottles on consecutive weekends, one was boring and one had the brett going on! .. . gold .. powerful carbonation .. . brett and hay .. . refreshing .. . decent saison, lower carbonation would have been appreciated .. . . Pocket sand!
