The Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout

The Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout

A traditional full-bodied stout brewed with lactose (milk sugar). The subtle sweetness imparted by the lactose balances the sharpness of the highly roasted grains which give this delicious beer its black color.

4.3 Very rich beer. Dark with little carbonation and small head. It's has a dark chocolate aftertaste and smokey charcoal front notes
4.5 From 12oz bottle in pint glass. A thin tan head drops quickly with almost no lacing. Color is dark reddish-brown. Aroma of sweet, rich roasted malt, cocoa and earthy hops. Mouthfeel is medium with a somewhat dry finish. Flavors of cocoa, dark bread toast, cream, and earthy-herbal hops. A very fine milk stout.
3.7 Pours a dark brown with an off white foam head. Aroma is milk, oat, caramel, chocolate, and some roast. Flavor is similar, sweet, with a cola character. Has some carbonation. Pretty good.
3.8 Found in bottle at Ingles in Franklin, NC. Great dark appearance. I really found this an oddly refreshing and well put together beer. Felt unique and light for the style but still a great mid-winter beer.
3.6 Pour is a dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma is a real nice roast with some bitter bakers chocolate, maybe even a bit of dark fruit and sugar. Flavor is more roast and bakes chocolate but it kind of loses a bit of sweetness I was looking for. Finishes more dry than sweet. Still this was a solid beer. Everything your looking for in a milk stout, it's just a little more dry than sweet.
3.4 Nice aroma of chocolate and a hint of bourbon. Sweet up front with chocolate malt and a hint of vanilla. Above average carbonation with a balance finish.
3.7 Dark pour with large, frothy head. Pleasant coffee/chocolate aroma and coffee taste. Thin texture and slightly bitter finish.
3.7 Quite good and very thick with great features and great to enjoy with nice food and also great aroma
4.4 Really my first experience with milk stout. I’m an ipa guy however this has many new fresh aromas and flavors. I taste chocolate and coffee. Slight cream flavor at the end.
3.9 12 ounce bottle. Translucent dark brown color. Small creamy tan head. Mild roasted malt nose. Flavor upfront is roasted malt and unsweetened cocoa. Nice creamy mouthfeel. Though it's a Milk Stout, it's not overtly sweet, as I expected it may be. The lactose balances this nicely. Very tasty.
3.9 Had first at mom's house. How come it took me so long to find this? Really good milk Stout.
3.7 Draft at Duke's Counter 3-19-17
3.0 Bottle from Total Wine in Orlando, FL. Aroma is chocolate, cocoa. Taste is mild unsweetened cocoa soda, dry roasted malt soda. My first Duck-Rabbit so I was probably expecting more (even though this is a Sweet / Milk Stout).
3.6 Draft at Macs Tavern. Dark reddish-brown pour. No lasting head. Milk and dark chocolates. Roasty coffee and nuts. Vanilla bean. Hints of charcoal and liquorice. Full-bodied. Milky. Solid.
3.8 Bottle. Nice, heavy weight and feel. Coffee and licorice. Slightly bitter, fuzzy finish.
3.7 Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a pitch black with a half-finger of beige head. Roasted coffee, prune and toasted granola. Medium body, great balance. Lingering chocolate and coffee notes. Touch of latte on the finish. I like this.
3.6 From 12 ounce bottle bought as part of a mix 6 pack from Ingles Supermarket in Lake Lure, North Carolina, tasted on July 26, 2017. Very dark brown/amber color, intense aroma of roasted malt/licorice/lactose/coffee/a bit of chocolate, good roasted malt/coffee/lactose flavor that’s not as big as the nose advertised but still quite decent.
3.3 It's dutch!
3.6 12oz bottle. Black color with a brown head. Sweet dark chocolate malt aroma. Milk dark chocolate malt bitter flavour. Heavy body. Smooth.
3.5 12oz bottle brought back from Florida. Poured black with beige head. Light vanilla chocolate notes. Taste is sweet chocolate malt vanilla milk. Tidy.
3.1 Bottle from Harris Teeter, Hampstead, North Carolina. Dark reddish-brown with a thin off-white head. Has a sweet nose, with a mildly sweet dark malt taste rather than any stated roasted malts.
3.9 Bottle. Black with a huge tan head, delaying pour. Creamer, milk chocolate, vanilla wafers and slight earthy aromas. Has a subtle chocolate milk flavor that is less sweet. Heavier body with a smooth feel.
3.7 Schwarzes bier cremiger schaum, malzig röstiger geruch etwas milchig, im Geschmack röstmalz Milchkaffee süsslich leicht lakritz, nicht so übel
4.3 Poured with little carbonation. Sweet aroma. Taste of mocha with a bit less sweetness. Thicker on the tongue but not heavy.wwll balanced. Sweet and bitter blend extremely. I usually only do stouts in winter but this has year round drinkabiliry due to its light yet complex flavors.
