The Hop Concept Hop Freshener Series: Dank & Sticky
Available February 2015
Our inaugural release boasts aromas of citrus, and dank, resinous pine. As the flavor opens, huge notes of stonefruit and dank resin give way to a juicy malt backbone and drying hop bitterness on the finish.
3.4How: can @ Venice beatch
Head: three finger, white. Dissipates rather quickly.
Colour: golden.
Aroma: tropical and citrus fruits, pine, slight alcohol.
Taste: thin/medium body, average carbonation, resinous, bitter, citrus fruits. Bitter long aftertaste.
A good douple ipa.
3.6This golden beer had a very modest light head, some lacing, and a nice fragrance. Overall it was a littlelight in body and I would not call it the most Dank and sticky I've had.
4.1Can from Trader Joe’s in Cupertino. Light amber color. Nice malty aroma. Medium bitterness. Very good Fruity hop aroma. Hint of autolysis. Easy to drink. Very good.
4.0Clear and golden pour, some white bubbles on the top. Fresh piney and lightly fruity nose, some resins, and a lot of grass. Dank. Tastes piney and super hop-forward, higher than average bitterness. Tastes dry, resiny, lots of hop oils there. Bitter and dry. Hop tooth satisfied.
3.9lovely deep golden color and frothy white head. Big bright nose with tons of stonefruit and over ripe mangoes with big biscuit notes. Very dank with sticky sweet maltiness. Chewy, aggressive bitterness, intense, dank, semi-sweet and unapologetic on many level. Nothing subtle about this at all.
Not for the faint hearted. After so many NE IPAs recently, I loved the difference.
3.4Dank and sticky. Done and done. The name nails it. Stone(d) fruit indeed. Was about to pass on this as a gimick then they called out the brewer heritage at Pizza Port/Lost Abby so I had to buy it. This is hop pr0n but can be done a bit better (aka Waldos) but this is Stoopid nice. I wonder if this will be able to get its own style one day. Anywho, tasty endeavor. The hops stick more than the malt. FTW!!!
3.2Draught @ Brewco, Manhattan Beach CA. Cloudy golden orange with foamy whitish head, orange-mango aroma, adequate carbonation, bitter citrus-mango taste with alcohol overtones, thin body, long finish. The alcohol escapes quite a bit.
3.5Bomber in my hotel room on 25th March 2019 (Fin Hotel, Oceanside California). I hate plastic cups! Three pours, each was a golden orange colour with a decent white crown every time. Dank, yes; Sticky, no. Enjoyed it though.

4.2This was shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Poured golden orange with a white head and great lacing. Nose of dank citrus and stone fruit. Full body and some alcohol in the mouthfeel. Flavor is like the aroma with a lot of earthy hops. and the finis his pine bitter.Simply outstanding.
3.8Bomber from hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. Honey golden and cloudy. A gold tinted head is three fingers. Pine and dankness with earth and stone fruit. Citrus and some tropical fruit. This is well done. It is as a west coast IPA had a baby with a NEIPA. Fruity and juicy as well as the above. Bitterness is low. I do note the ABV. Well done.
3.7Tap at choice city during RMBT. Gold with medium white head and good lacing. Subtle nose. Taste is dank citrus, but not too thick. Good
3.6Had it back to back with Port Brewing Mongo, exactly the same beer. Cheat. Decent beer but I don't like these tricks.
3.9From tap. Almost clear golden orange color with white to off white head. Malty and hoppy aroma, grass, pine, citrusy fruity, bread, caramel. Sweet and bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
3.8Cask at GBBF 2018, Olympia, London, Aug 2018 - as The Hop Concept Dank and Sticky - Hazy orangey gold in colour. Medium foamy white head. Very Fruity; citrus fruity, grapefruit, orange, rindy. Very Hoppy; good hop bitterness, dank hops, piney resinous hops. Malty; pale malts, caramel. Bitter hoppy and citrus fruity throughout. Good DIPA. Enjoyed this. (2018-08)
3.9Espuma cremosa color amarillo suave, buena retención , olor moderado, color traslúcido, con buen sabor en boca , leve amargor lo justo para provocar otro trago, catada en lata
3.6Cask gravity at GBBF 2018. 8.0% Haze amber colour lasting white head. cat pee sauvignon blanc simcoe aroma some sweetness. Likeable enough. Sweet but good simcoe. Hides abv well. Liked it.c
3.6Cask at GBBF 2018, Olympia, London. A dark golden/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, citrus, orange, pine aroma. Tastes similar, hoppy, citrus, pine, orange, slightly bitter and dank. Decent.
3.7Cask gravity at GBBF2018. Oily looking hazy pale amber, with a very thin white head. Nose is grapefruit citrus, pine, cut plant stems, apricot, orange peel. Taste is grapefruit peel, pine, apricot, plant stems, tropical fruit. Nice oily mouthfeel. Some delicate plant and floral aromas and flavours.
3.6Draft. Pours a medium, well retained, off white head, with moderate lacing, over an essentially clear light amber (SRM 6) body........nose is pine, resin, dankness, fruit tones, slight allium, all from the hops, balance to the hops......taste is pine, resin, juicy fruits, dankness, mild allium tones, moderate malt tones, finishing with lingering hop bitterness, balance to the hops......mouth feel, medium, slightly sticky body, alcohol warmth present, moderate carbonation. This is quite typical newer style I/DIPA with hop dominance and complexity. The only flaw is the slight allium. BJCP 9/3/14/4/7
3.6Knowing nothing about it, I liked it, but wouldn't have guessed Port/Lost Abbey. Amber color with a white head. Aroma of the usual goods - citrus, grapefruit, pine, tropical fruit, mango. Medium bodied, moderate to high bitterness, good.
4.7Can. Auburn color slightly hazy. Ultra dank basement, pine needles and grapefruit aroma slaps you around. Then you drink it and it slaps you much harder. Hardcore piney hop smash. It's intense, but still not a palate wrecking mess. Log lasting bitter, sticky citrusy hop flavors remain. I was just looking for an ipa, but this was fantastic. West coast domination!
3.6Color dorado, translúcido, con capa de espuma blanca de dos dedos de grosor y buena retención. Carbonatación media. Textura oleosa. Aroma a pino, malta, resina, cítricos difusos.
4.1Can from Mikkeller,, Copenhagen. Pours clear deep goilden with a big creamy white head. Strong citrus hop aroma,, also lots of pine and pine cones. Taste is strong resiny hoppy, delicious sticky mouthfeel, a true hop bomb,, fresh and clean with a nice minty and/or dank finish
3.647 cl can @ home. Pours clear golden with a white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma and flavour are pine, grapefruit, and malt - with a bitter finish.
3.7Poured from a bottle, light hazy orange color with a small off-white head. Aroma is moderate citrus and pine with a hint of a floral note. Medium bitter, medium body, average carbonation. Clean and refreshing with a resiny bitter finish.
4.116 ounce can into tulip glass, best before 9/20/2018. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep golden amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, orange, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/rind, mint, wood, green pepper, pine, honey, toasted biscuit, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, orange, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/rind, mint, wood, green pepper, pine, honey, toasted biscuit, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good sized pine, citrus rind, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, orange, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/rind, mint, wood, green pepper, pine, honey, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance; and minimal lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Mildly increasing warmth of 8.5%. Overall this is an awesome DIPA! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink; despite the aggressively bitter/resinous/drying finish. This is definitely for pine forest lovers only! 5 Classic C hops(Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Comet, CTZ); plus Mosaic, Eureka, and Simcoe. Extremely dank, vibrant, earthy, and fairly juicy hop complexity; nice malty backbone, with minimal residual sweetness from lingering dryness. A really enjoyable offering, loved the hop profile as expected.
