butelka/drugie dno. czarne, klarowne, z kilkumilimetrowym krążkiem brudnobiałej piany. aromat cytrusów, żywicy, iglaków, w aromacie niewyczuwalne żadne palone nuty. w smaku wyraźnie goryczkowe, z palonym finiszem. niezwykle dobre piwo
(Bottle) Dark reddish brown colour with big, frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, crisp-bread, blueberries, dried fruit (raisins, dates) and brown sugar. Malty, roasted taste with notes of crisp-bread, raisins, dates, coffee, brown sugar, some pine needles and a balanced coffee bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Not quite as bitter as suspected, actually more chocolate and coffee than pine needles and grapefruit. But really tasty and well balanced. Very nice.

(330ml bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Dec 12 2016) Pours black with a thick head of medium tan foam that lasts well. Aroma of sweet dark malts, chocolate, mango, dank leafy hops, light to moderate roast, resinous pine, dark bread. Flavour is again rather malt-driven with thick dark toffee, chocolate, cake, pine, toasted malt, mango, orange, weed. Finish has moderate roasted malt, coffee and pine bitterness. Medium-full bodied, smooth carbonation. Solid, balanced black IPA, bit of a hoppy porter feel.
Bottle. Shaker. Deep brown/black with medium, semi-thick, light brown head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is moderately malty and moderately hoppy, mainly tropical fruits (mango, passion fruit) and citrus, lightly peachy and tangerine notes. Roasted malts here are almostly unnoticeable, just slightly toasty. Taste is moderately sweet and moderately to heavily bitter, long and constant duration. Medium body, oily texture, soft to lively carbonation, finish is bitter, semi-dry, citrus, long and astringent. Summary: Very good Black IPA - hoppy, bitter with very little roasted malts influence, moderately drinkable. Podsumowanie: Kolejny ran definicja style - palone słody praktycznienie niewyczuwalne, wyraźnie zaznaczony aromat chmielowy z solidną goryczką. Bez eksperymentów, dokładnie tak jak powinno być.
Simcoe mosaic doing their usual tropical job on the aroma, seat back relax and enjoy.
Reddish to black body with a small persistent white head.
Taste is light sweetness light bitterness in a beautiful balance.

Bottled 03.08.2016, BB 03.02.2017. black color, very fine bubbly rather big coffee-colored head. smells earthy, bit leathery, some exotic fruits, spices, nice smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes earthy, exotic fruits, mango, some caramel, pines, lightly astringent, licorice. finishes lightly earthy bitter with notes of mango, caramel and some licorice. very nice one, lovely balance, easy drinking.
I had high hopes for this one, as I’m a big fan of the Kernels IPAs and pales, but it fell slightly short for me. Still a lovely beer, but I would have liked the flavours turned up just a notch. Plenty of much better examples of the style out there.

Nice slightly fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry roasted, weeds, old leafs, roasted grain, lawn, minerals, old moss, wet hay, paper, hints of caramel and licorice. Taste is slightly dry mineraly, weeds, minerals, bark, old leafs, paper, dark malts, harsh hops, old lawn, cardboard, pine needles, hints of soap. Medium to longlasting bitterness, dry harsh mouthfeel. Not my cup of tea.

330 ml bottle at Craftbeer Corner, Cologne. Black color with beige head. Hoppy and roasted malty aroma, grass, grapefruit, pine, licorice, light coffee, caramel. Sweet and heavy bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
On tap. Dark brown with big beige head. Roasted malt aroma, grapefruit, tangerine. Fruity and malty sweet flavour with heavy bitterness
W nosie średnio intensywnie, słodkie cytrusy, aromaty leśne. Barwa czarna z pojedynczymi miedzianymi refleksami, piana wysoka. W smaku wytrawne, dominują nuty leśne i żywiczne, dalej cytrusy w postaci grejpfruta, w tle trochę kawy i gorzkiej czekolady. Goryczka średnia żywiczno-grejpfrutowa. Dobre. Butelka do 03.02.2017

W nosie głównie aromaty chmielowe, białe winogrona, cytrusy, i coś jakby truskawki nie wiem czy to zasługa chmielu Nelson Sauvin, na końcu trochę prażonego słonecznika. W sumie aromat bardzo subtelny. Bawa ciemnobrązowa, prawie czarna, piana bardzo drobna, super oblepia szkło. W smaku średnio wytrawne, cytrusowe, żywiczne, później trochę kawowo-czekoladowe. Goryczka wyraźna, palona i trochę popiołowa. Wysycenie dość wysokie przez co piwo jest stosunkowo lekkie. Kernel to jednak europejska czołówka w piwach z użyciem nowofalowych chmieli. Szkoda że są to piwa u nas tak trudno dostępne. Butelka do 19.05.2016
Bottle. Resin and pine, citrus and dark chocolate. Very bitter yet balanced, soft mouthfeel. A great example of the style.
Bottle from Beers’n’more. Grassy hops with a little roast aroma. Lots but very smooth and silky carbonation leading into sweet-ish stout-ish blackness. Medium body. Grassy hops are present throughout, even on the palate. A bit juicy, relaxed bitterness. Nice balance though. Beautiful!
Pours translucent black with medium off-white head. Aromas of nice chocolate malt and citrus hops. Fine carbonation but decent body. Taste is roasted malt, pine hops and slight soapiness. Medium dry and light-medium bitter. Very nice black IPA but not quite as good as Black Betty
Bottle at home. Pours black colour with a beige head. Citrus note. Dark malts. Slightly roasty. Medium body. Great bitter finish.
On tap at Irreale.
Brownish head with good retention.
Very dark brown.
Aroma is hoppy, roasted, malt and floral.
Taste is dry bitter, resin and piny with a dry finish.

33cl bottle from zymology lisboa. Dark color. Thin brown head. Medium high bitterness. Medium oily body. Aroma is hoppy, roasted, mango.
100 ml sample, courtesy of Maersk. Dark brown, almost black. (Just) hoppy aroma, dank and catty with notes of white wine (?). The taste is also mostly hoppy, yet with a light but clear velvety chocolate note. Smooth mouth feel. Excellent.
Bottle brought by Maersk, thanks! Pours black with an off creamy head. Unmistakable Nelson Sauvin aroma: white grapes, white wine, some light grass. At the same time, as the beer gets warmer hints of chocolate and coffee also appear in the nose, rendering the overall impression as a hoppy chocolate bar. Medium body, pleasant palate. Taste fully corresponds to aroma with notes of chocolate and coffee over a refreshing hop profile. Finishes dry and pleasantly bitter with both roasty and hoppy character. Very pleasant black IPA.
No head. Brownish black colour. Grassy, fruity, catty nelson flavour. Tiny hint of chocolate in the taste, some unbalanced bitterness, nevertheless very mild. Solid black ipa with long bitter finish

330ml bottle (6.6%; Nelson Sauvin hops) at home from Top of the Hops, Kilmarnock (bb 19 May 2016), pine, roasted malty, tropical fruits aroma, opaque very dark brown with a bubbly tan head, chocolate with grassy hops, creamy with a potent hoppy finish.
In bottiglia, a casa. Colore nero profondo con risvolti color cola nel sottotesta. Schiuma da bianca a color caffè, alta e persistente, da soapy a pannosa. Olfatto molto soddisfacente ed intenso di agrumi maturi. Carbonazione da soffice a media. Aroma inizialmente citrico, con evidenza di pompelmo e cedro, ma anche mandarino e mango, nota di caffè lontana che diviene via via più percettibile con l’aumentare della temperatura. Amaro tostato reso frizzante dagli agrumi. Carattere maltato pronunciato, sovrastato dall’agrume ma in recupero nel dopo beva, con tocco appena setoso alle gonadi. Mouthfeel agrumato con picco amaro e nota brulèe smorzata. Finale amaro breve e gentile. Corpo da medio a pieno, struttura da watery a oleosa con a tratti sensazione lattica. Nota alcoolica di chiara avvertenza ma gentilmente smorzata. Nelson Sauvin unico luppolo, qui lega bene le componenti per un prodotto molto armonico. Davvero una ottima black IPA, da manuale.
With Nelson Sauvin hops. Dark brown with medium beige head. Nice hoppy aroma with fruity notes. Good hoppy bitteness mixed with roasted caramel. Fruit, vanilla, coffee and chocolade notes.
Bottle from The Kernel Brewery, London - UK - Color: deep dark black beer with brown reflection no carbonation and medium ivory brown head. Smell: roasted malt and sweet roasted chocolate balanced with grass and hops. Superb nose sweet and grassy. Taste: medium body with roasted malt and bood grassy hops blast. Superb balance with good attenuation. Amazing chocolate finish. Fresh and bitterness finish. Aftertaste: wet bitterness, roasted malt and chocolate.
