3.9 Hazy golden color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of grass, pils malt, toast, earth, some hay. Taste of earth, grass, hay, earth, pepper, and a dry finish.
3.5 750 ml bottle from Mr. B’s Wine & Spirits on sale for $6.99 (probably not too fresh). Hazy, deep, golden to yellow appearance with a fluffy white head and light lacing. Aroma of toasted grain, bread, light yeast, mild hops, light peppery spice and hints of citrus zest. Similar flavor, adding moderate hop bitterness balanced by light grainy sweetness. Light to medium body with a crisp feel, ample carbonation and a light dry finish. Drinks kind of like a Pils.
3.2 On tap at Lord Hobo, Cambridge, MA. Clear pale gold with a white head. Aroma has a lager-like quality, with a bit of skunk, floral notes, grass, and spice. Flavor is similar to aroma, with additional spice and some funkiness. Has a dry finish. Not bad.
2.8 Hazy golden amber pour. Big white head. Plenty of lacing. Huge skunky aroma that slowly gives way to a nice malt note. Hard to get past the skunk though. Big chewy malt flavor. Bitter.
3.9 Bottle as pictured. Had no idea what to expect but came away very impressed. Might use the Dupont yeast? Definitely has a bit of a barnyard funk feel to it, but smooth. Lovely European saison.
3.9 4 oz draft pour at The Sovereign as a welcoming gift for the preview event. Golden orange with off-white head. Aromas of floral notes, biscuit, herbs. Tastes of floral notes, malt, citrus, herbs, spices. Almost like a cross between an IPA and saison.
3.2 Great aroma with honey and floral notes that carries through to the taste. Some grassy hoppy flavors mingle through the flavor. Pours a golden color with minimal white head. Overall pretty solid, but the taste, while balanced, is a little thin.
3.9 How: Bottle (750 ml) at Hill Farmstead tasting room. Split 2-ways with Franky Boy. >>> Textbook classic Saison that is up against the best. Peppery, herbal, dry and quenching. - Hazy orangey with a frothy white head, good retention and some lacing. - Thiriez yeast is the first thing you get along strong herbal and peppery presence. - There’s a very nice farmhouse character similar to what you can find in some Blaugies or Dupont and that we almost never get this side of the pond. - Breadied malts, chewy cereals and caramel give this beer a solid malt backbone. - The dry and peppery finish add to the quenching character of this beer. Flavors: Thiriez yeast, pepper, herbal notes, breadied malt, cereals, caramel, mild citrus.
3.5 On draft at Isaacs. Notes of Bread, grass, flower, hop, citrus and sour notes. Finish was sour with straw and hay. It was surprisingly good.
4.0 Pours a golden-yellow with good fluffy white head. Nice earthy aroma of fresh hops, yeast and spices. Tastes of floral hops and spices with some yeast and citrus fruit. Medium bodied. Good carbonation.
3.8 Wonderfully done. The perfect mix between hay aroma, light citrus and a hint of pepper. Golden pour with good head and lacing. Light bitter finish with a touch of tang. Tap at Churchkey.
4.1 750 ml bottle. Super good! I cracked this one open and my wife looked at me and said "What smells like weed?" Definitely has some dank, grassy notes on the nose. Taste is hoppy and dry, but with a surprising rich and full quality that you don’t usually get in a 4.5%er. Floral hops, light grain with a touch of bread and honey, light yeast. I could drink this all day.
4.1 Aroma: Slight basement, a little lemon; lots of herbal and grassy notes with dry hopping most apparent. Appearance: Hazy gold with a foamy white head that settles into a bubbly skin. Flavor: Very dry throughout; herbal lemon tea up front and exceedingly so towards the finish; hops take over any sort of yeast funkiness this might otherwise have. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: Thought quite highly of this; wonderful dry hopped Saison.
4.3 Bottle from the Bierkoning. Hazy, glowing gold pour with white head. Aroma is hoppy, farmy, dank peppery hop, very light skunk, very peppery, white pepper, clean bready notes, crisp grain, light peppery saison yeast. Taste is bitter, hoppy, brilliant maltiness, very bready but not at all sweet, very dry in fact. Definitely part of a very exclusive category of saisons revolving around Saison Dupont, many attempt it but few succeed.
3.3 Bottled @ De Molen 2nd Tuesday Tasting. The aroma has grass, some spicey tones. Bit hazy, yellow coloured beer with a thin head. The taste is moderate bitter, quite grassy. Dry finish.
3.8 Bottled @ de Molen tasting, small sample. Slight hazy yellow to golden color, short frothy head. Aroma of spicy and grassy noble hop, just slight spicy yeast. Medium bitter in taste, slight dry. More like an urtyp or classic german pilsener, but hardly any farmhouse or saison character. No problem to me, it’s nice and flavorful.
3.6 Sampled from bottle @ De Molen 2nd Tuesday Tasting. Clear golden color, medium sized white head. Smell and taste malts, nicely hoppy, nicely bitter. Not really what I had expected from a saison but it’s a nice beer.
3.3 Bottle @ 2nd Tuesday tasting. Aroma is German posts with extra hop and a hint of funky barn. But only slightly. Flavour is light to medium bitterness, fruity and spicy hops, some light barn. Nice one!
3.5 Sample at the Molen monthly tasting. thick creamy white head. Clear golden pour. a nice refreshing saison. Slight pepper
3.5 Bottle @ 2nd Tuesday tasting at De Molen, hosted by dEnk. Clear golden pour, foamy white head. Aroma of German hops, spicy, some citrus and quite crispy. Flavor is quite bitter, German pilsener and spicy. Nice balance.
3.6 Tap. Slightly hazy yellow orange, with a thin white head. Slight earthy hop presence, hay, grass and fairly muted overall. Flavor is more interested with sour grass, sweet hay, and minerals. Light soft still body.
3.5 Draft at Churchkey. Pours almost clear amber with a fizzy white head and lots of lacing. Tastes like dry bitterness, grassy, lemon, herbs, spices. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet lemon, sweet grass, and dough.
3.4 Tap at Churchkey. Pours clear gold with creamy white head. Aroma is cracker malts, light floral notes, light barnyard notes, and some citrus, with faint funk. Flavor is dry malts, grassy hop and grapefruit bitterness, and faint citrus esters; dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation.
3.7 Bottle: Served in a shaker: Medium to bigger sized white foamy head on top of a cloudy yellow colored beer. Aromas yeast, bread, herbs, some grass, plants and a hint of flowers. Flavours of yeast, herbs, some hops, grass, light hint of flowers, bitters, hints of malts, citrus, spicy and some clay. Aftertaste bitters, herbs, yeast, light dry and some grass/plant tones. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied and a light dry creamy texture.
4.3 Very nice saison. On the lighter side. Incredibly drinkable. Agreeable. Good as an introduction to the style.
4.1 Very nice farmhouse ale aroma immediately with thick white foam atop a cloudy bright blonde brew. There is nice lacing on the glass as well. The taste is strictly farmhouse with very slight hop finish that is refreshing and clean. I would probably consider this a great Spring and Summer beer.
4.0 Bottle. Floral funk aroma. Golden body with tall lasting head, nice lacing. Flavor begins with hints of hop, yeast and champagne. A dry, crisp and enjoyable beer. Slight bitter finish
2.9 Aroma of a sweet hoppy, malts. It has a hazy golden color. Lightly sweet, hoppy, malty saison. Overall it has a decent flavor, but a bit lacking. Not bad but did not stand out.
3.0 Bottle on sale @ Wade’s Wines. Fucken a. Hazy straw pour with a big white head. Oh wow is this skunky. Grass, floral hops, and citrus peel. Some yeast, dough, and a bit of bread and biscuit. The flavor is fairly skunked as well. Grassy and floral hops. A touch of citrus, yeast, and sweet dough, biscuit, and bread.
3.3 Golden slightly hazy straw golden color. Smells like vegetables and yeast. A very dry finish.
