3.4 Robe rubis, reflets bruns, mousse peu abondante.
3.5 Red-tinged cola appearance with a thin, tan head. Aroma is vinegar and wet wood. Taste is charred meat, smoke, vinegar, and sour cherries.
3.0 330ml bottle bought @Johnny’s Off License (Rome). Pours reddish with a minimal off-white head. Aroma is malty, sugary, caramel, bread, light fruity notes. Flavour is medium sweet, unbalanced, and it lacks complexity. Medium body, soft carbonation. So so...
2.7 Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Tom L. Cloudy reddish amber. Aroma of malt, caramel, candy, fruits, yeast. Sweet flavor with caramel, overripe fruitiness, minerally hint, yeast, bitterish hint, a bit of oxidation. Medium-bodied.
3.0 Bottle @ DØE. Pours hazy brown with an offwhite head. Aroma of malt, caramel, yeast, hay, little fruit. Flavor is rather sweet, malt, yeast, caramel, hay, sweet fruit. Medium body, average carbonation. 230116
2.6 Brown beer with a small beige head. Smells of yeast, green apples brown malts. Tastes malty. Not a lot of flavor. Leaves a malty, bit sweet palate. Boring beer.
3.3 Bottle from Geers. Hazy red/brown colour, beige foam. Sweet nose of caramel and dried fruit. Some metallic notes. Bitter finish. Fruity and some spices. Ok.
3.2 Bottle 0.33l from Dranken Geers Gent Belgium.01.08.2015.Pour it hazy brown color with small white head.Aroma of smokey and rusty malt.Taste of roasted malt, rusty feel on the back, Belgian yeast present. Not so good balanced for me.
3.6 At Johnny Off L. in Rome, bottle. Thanks John. Pours dark brown, cloudy with a tick ivory cap. Nose: brown sugar, some dry prunes, dubbel feel, some wet wood. Mouth: fresh, little dry, dry fruit, a bit astringent. Nice
3.7 Bouteille 33cl, BB12/2016, lot#498.
2.5 Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 21.09.15. Clear reddish orange. Dense, pale brown head and lacing. Aroma of salts and dried sea weed. Similar taste. Some malt and berries.
3.1 Bottle, 33cL. Home. Home. A clear red brown mahogany beer with a medium beige head ; average retention. Aroma of toffee, roast, herb, light honey. Light sweet ; light to medium bitter refreshing, light dry. Light to medium body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty dry finish. Overall, a refreshing light roasty french ale.
3.4 Thanks! 330 ml. bottle split by 2. Dark red amber, little white. Nose: something seems off here, brett, rustic mixed with Coca-Cola, candy, sugar, watery, mineral & horseblanket,… Taste is rotting fruit, lightly metallic, iron, very sugary, overripe fruits, brett, horseblanket,… Watery & very sugar heavy body. Oddly somewhat still enjoyable but it seemed quite off to me. Odd brew.
3.5 330ml bottle from Beer Station, Xiamen. Pours hazy amber brown with an off white head. Aroma of malt, nutmeg, cinnamon and spices. Sweet finish. A little unusual but nice.
3.0 How: Bottle. Where: SMÖF 2014. Appearance: Amber colour with a quickly vanishing tan head. Aroma: Fruit, hops, yeast, a bit sour. Body: Medium body and carbonation. Flavour: Fruit, caramel, yeast, sour.
2.8 Couleur ambrée sombre et trouble, légère mousse. Nez leger caramel et levures. Gout caramel et levures, corps assez cremeux. Fin rapide levures. Dommage presque a la date limite.
3.2 Bottle shared at Kasteelhof with Colin and Bruce - Cassel, France. Pours clearish red-brown with a creamy, tan head and a few floaties for good measure. Simple bready malt aroma with hints of toast. Medium sweet flavor with more general bready malts and caramel accents. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. More bready malts on the finish with further caramel and also some cereal and toasted sugars. Not bad.
3.0 33cl bottle takeaway from Brasserie Thiriez in Esquelbecq. Impression of the nose is apple bake, cinnamon, maraschino cherry, cola, salt and pepper, quiet herbal-pepper noble hops. Effervescent, sweet and syrupy with a long cinnamon candy finish. Mineral-rich and lightly phenolic. Flabby body with an odd blueberry pancake syrup and bitter hop finish. In bottle I think it shows signs of age.
3.6 Bottle from Chez Alain Cave a Bieres, Rennes, Brittany, France. Hazy dark red-brown in colour with a sweet, rich malty flavour, treacle notes and a bitter blackcurrant and gentle woody finish.
3.2 33cl bb06/2014 merci jaghana. Rich bordeaux brown pour, subdued earthy milk chocolate and slight berry, old raisin and leaf aromas, like a slice of Black Forest cake left out to air for a day or two. Taste is never expressive, but unfolds as it warms into a pleasant malt-delicate composition with gentle leafy hops. Dry, yet with a slightly sticky, unclean mf. Drinks more like a French Rotbier than a bière de garde.
3.6 W aromacie karmel, brązowy cukier, lekko winny, drożdzowo - owocowy, bardzo dobry. W smaku pełny, czekolada i karmel, brązowy cukier, lekka brzoskwinia. Jak rasowy belg, choć w wersji light. Bardzo pijalne mimo słodyczy.
3.2 Bottle. Dark red, unfiltered. Red berry, tarr cherry, malty, light raisiny nose. Light bodied, red fruity, dried flavours. Easily drunk, nice dink. -- bb
3.2 33cl bottle. 03/2015, lot 393. Gråsälstasting #4. Mahogany color, thin white head. Bready, mild spicy, dried fruits in aroma. Flavor has brown sugary notes, dark fruits, bread, some chocolate. Decent, pleasant brew, just tad too sweet perhaps. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
3.0 Bottle 33 CL. Ty Hermod. Pours dark mahogany with small lacing white head. Notes of malts, raisins, light chocolate. Not bad but not great. Pretty mellow and easy drinkable. - beerbasher
3.4 Bottle 33cl. Hazy dark amber brown color, medium sized slightly off-white frothy head, recedes slowly; aroma sweet malty, roasted caramel, earth, wet hay, bit musty; taste opens light sweet, followed by light toasted bitterness; light body, oily texture; bit flat light bitter aftertaste, very light sour notes. A very earthy beer and not really a Flanders red ale, lacks sourness.
3.3 330 mml bottle tasted on 25/06/2014. clear amber to brown colour with a minimum head. Aroma is caramel, cacao and toast. Taste is sweet caramel, cacao and bread. Medium body and medium/light carbonation. Refreshing, easy to drink and well balanced. Next one please!
3.9 On tap @ 4 Ecluses, Dunkerque - France. Color: red amber beer with small carbonation and small white foam. Smell: red fruits, and small sour notes. Grapes. Taste: nice sweet sour taste with red fruits as grape and raspberry. Aftertaste: sweet sour taste. Nice flemish red beer.
3.4 Bottle (330 ml). Almost clear reddish/amber with a small mostly lasting off-white head and little lacing. Aroma is of burnt caramel, toasted malt, mineral presence and some spiciness. Taste is also of burnt caramel, toasted malt, mineral/earthy notes, spices and nuts. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Short finish. The beer is very well executed (as usual with Thiriez), but it’s hard to get anything better with this recipee. Not bad, just easily forgetable.
