Thirsty Dog Bourbon Barrel Aged Siberian Night

Thirsty Dog Bourbon Barrel Aged Siberian Night

We took our award winning Siberian Night Russian Imperial Stout and aged it for 11 months in fresh bourbon barrels. The result blew us away. The dark chocolate malt yields a milk chocolate flavor that blends perfectly with the vanilla flavor from the barrel. The bourbon aroma adds the finishing touch.

4.0 This was simply excellent. Bottle, probably less than a year old. Everything one could want from a ba stout, roast flavors mixed with barrel notes and flavor lingers throughout the finish.
3.6 It's a stout that's wet and cold in a glass. 9oz pour at king's table. I don't know what else to type here
4.3 12 oz foil dressed bottle, sent over by prufrockstar. Huge thanks for this one my friend! You supplied quite the beer for my celebratory evening, and for that, I owe you! What an incredible beer this is. Listed at 10.9% Pours a jet black, with a thin, but lasting tan foam head. A sweet chocolate heavy aroma, some pretty strong whiskey impressions. Flavor remains on the chocolate side, and has much more whiskey flavor, than overall booziness. A warming finish, but still without being boozy. Thick body, chocolate, wood, and soft vanilla notes. An amazing imperial to say the least. Loved it.
3.7 Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate and a bit of cocoa. Tongue is full of bourbon, wood and chocolate with vanilla appearing here and there and coming on its own in the aftertaste. Pretty good. Weakest side of this beer is its palate - too much carbonation, not enough body and boozy mouthfeel. At the end of the day its quite tasty, but leaving it in a cellar for a year or 2 wouldnt do it harm.
3.5 Pours black. Medium body. Whisky aroma is noticeable in the after taste. Vanilla comes all well. Balanced but a little sweet tough
3.8 -late tap from untappd- Bourbon, vanilla and roast. Slick finish. Well done.
4.5 This is a very good beer. Black pour with a thicker tan head. There is a distinct vanilla and bourbon aroma. Chocolately with fig and barley present. Overall enjoyable and sippable.
5.0 I am new to trying anything other than bud light or pbr so this is a whole new world to me.
4.0 Aroma chocolate, roasty, woody, bourbon, Appearance black, tan foam, brown foam, Taste medium sweetness, lightly bitter, Palate medium body, Overall nice barrel character with vanilla and bourbon. A little thinner than I would have liked but the taste makes me look past that. I would suggest this beer to a friend.
3.6 12oz bottle from Salud pours an opaque black with some thin grey head, no legs. Nose has cola, vanilla, heavy molasses, licorice, some dried cherry, burnt coconut meat. Flavor is chocolate cherry cordial, chocolate covered espresso bean, some toasted wood, a little soy/umami, dark fruits too. Finishes full bodied, boozy and lightly astringent.
3.9 Delicious take on this beer. Aroma was big and full. Strong vanilla, bourbon and chocolate. Pour was a deep dark brown with a thin tan film for a head. Taste was huge and flavorful. Strong chocolate, vanilla and wood flavors. Nice bourbon backbone. As t warmed some caramel and roasted malt because more noticeable. Mild carbonation
4.3 Black color . Nice , beige head. Bourbon , chocolate, vanilla and dark fruits in aroma. Moderate sweetness in taste. Bourbon, warming finish.
3.4 Poured a dark, dark brown with a healthy tan head which lingered.....aroma is chocolate, bourbon, vanilla.....taste is smooth as if oats are involved, chocolate up front, booze, cherry, bourbon, oaked vanilla, licorice takes over huge and dwarfs all the other flavors then won’t let go.
3.7 Bottle in Seattle. Rainy night tasting. Huge thanks to Chris for sending these to me awhile ago. Tasted side by side with the regular version. Thin foam, slightly thicker head and heavier body than the regular version. Deep bourbon and chocolate nose. Pleasing. Dark licorice with a creamy barrel. Loses some of the sharpness and uniqueness of the original. A bit foamy in the mouth, lots of boozy qualities. Dark chocolate. Certainly not an improvement on the original, this takes the profile in quite a different direction. Earthiness, fresh oak, Stefan mentioned thyme and rosemary, which make some sense. I just don’t see what the bourbon adds, which alongside the fizzy character obliterates the lovely roast and crushed coffee of the original. But nice, overall.
3.4 Bottle, thanks luttonm! Dark brown color with tan head. Aroma is bourbon wood, with caramel and vanilla, but also quite phenolic. Taste is more vanilla and caramel, but it’s not very intense. Surprisingly fizzy carbonation. Does not gain at all from barrel aging.
4.3 The aroma is malts, chocolate, coffee, vanilla and a little caramel. Pours black with an amber hue, tan head mostly lasting and excellent lacing. The taste is sweet, then a little bitter. The body is medium, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively, the finish long. Very Good!!
3.9 Sergey’s hunt; 10.9% ABV Black color, the head is small. The aroma is moderate, there is roasted malt, bourbon, some wood. Soft mouthfeel; nice chocolate flavor, with a creamy character, and a mild vanilla and tobacco accent from the barrel; I like sweeter Imperial Stouts, but this is also very good.
3.8 Bottle - Lots of bourbon barrel notes. Jet brown black with a light brown head. Dark roast, smoke and peat with a long finish. Nice.
4.1 355ml bottle (thx, Nick M.!) at Alex’s. Pours a very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is bourbon, dark fruits, some chocolate notes. Taste is bourbon, boozy, roasted malt, dark fruits. Very good.
3.8 12oz bottle. Pours out black topped with a small tan head. Nose is nice bourbon barrel goodness vanilla roast malts coffee chocolate. Taste is more of the nice bourbon barrel treat roast malts light smoke and coffee.
3.4 Bottle black with a thin brief tan head Mild roasty aromas and flavors. Chocolate and some lactose sweetness. Very little barrel aging notes. A little sweet and maybe under buttered. Nice flavors though
3.8 0.355l bottle @ Hotel Room. Quite deep in color this! Really oily and I’ll go a head and call it jet black. A nice surprisingly tall dark brown head on the top leaving mild lacings. A lively salty dark and roasted nose. Lots of espresso, wood, soft vanilla and rich chocolate. This is the good kind of Bourbon aroma. Lovely. Tastes really good also. It’s superbly roasted without being too much. Smooth oily on the texture, not directly creamy as I thought on the pour, and soft prickling on the carbonation. Lots of chocolate a d roasted d malts in the taste. Marzipan, mild sea salted licorice. Here’s bitter dry cocoa powder before I get a hint of something wood tart in the tail. Lots of flavor without being too much. Nice stuff! 15.06.2015
4.0 Dark black brown with little head. Aroma bring the bourbon along with sweet chocolate malts. Very dry. Taste follows aroma with more intensity. Beer with bourbon poured in - rich and smokey. Some booze can't help but bleed through on this one. Intense flavors.
4.4 Black with light head. Aroma packs a boozy punch...pronounced bourbon, chocolate and coffee. Bourbon flavor is well balanced, not overpowering. Very good.
4.2 12 oz bottle. Black in color with a decent tan head. Aroma is of vanilla, chocolate sauce, roasted malts, and sticking your head in a bourbon barrel. Taste is of vanilla, charred oak, cocoa, coffee, and molasses.
4.1 Bottle. The look is dark, midnight with no stars, tan decent head. The smell is big, bold, rich, alcohol, coffee, whiskey, wood, and great. The taste is much the same, more tannic oak, good stuff.
4.6 Thirsty Dog Bourbon Barrel Aged Siberian Night makes the mark in the category. Dark pour with a thick tan head. Aroma is chocolaty with peanut notes. Taste is chocolate, coffee and peanut with a tinge of bourbon. Surprisely smooth finish given the ABV. Siberian Night is about at good as it gets in the RIS category.
3.9 2016/07/31 - Pours black with a fluffy tan head that quickly reduces and leaves lots of splotchy lacing. Aroma is milk chocolate, coffee, charred wood, oaky vanilla, licorice, bourbon, vegetal hops, light butterscotch and a hint of coconut. Taste is creamy milk chocolate, mild coffee, smokey wood, oaky vanilla, lots of bourbon, some vegetal notes and light butter. Mouthfeel is thick and sticky with smooth carbonation and a moderately sweet, boozy, warming finish. Finish is a little harsh, but overall this beer is delicious and nicely balanced.

Aroma is bourbon, sweet malty with caramel, vanilla, toasted coconuts, some dark chocolate notes, Taste is sweet, malty, slight warming.
