Thirsty Dog Citra Dog

Thirsty Dog Citra Dog

American IPA bursting with citrus aromas and flavors. You’ll find evidence of tangerine, grapefruit, orange and mango in the aroma from the multiple additions of a single hop variety, Citra. There is also a nice malt balance in this bitter, full bodied, doglicious IPA that is a citrus lovers delight.

3.0 A decent run of the mill IPA. Nothing groundbreaking here but it is a solid drinkable beer. Aroma was ok. A little weak but when my nose went into the glass there was caramel, grapefruit rind and earth. Pour was a hazy medium gold with a one finger white head. Taste was typical Midwestern IPA. Malt forward, with sweet malt providing the backbone and hot onion and earthy hops creating some bitterness. Nice carbonation. Could use a little more hop bitterness but that’s not really in style at the moment.
3.9 Nice aroma of citrus, and tangerine. Color is clear somewhat dark golden with a white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a little lacing. Flavor is a pleasant citrus hoppiness. A pretty good malt balance to the bitterness. Med (appropriate) body. Overall, a pretty nice citra IPA. I’d drink more!
3.6 12 ounce bottle. Nice pour. Citrus with bitterness and hops. Smooth. Nice IPA overall.
2.8 Golden amber... Big white head... Soft sweet crystal toffee malts nose... Soft sweet toffee fruit.. Soft sweet malts.. Lightest orange.. Lugjt spangle sweeties
3.6 A very solid and sessionable IPA. Good flavors from the start to finish. Hops throughout, not too sweet, nice alcohol. Full bodied but very crisp.
3.6 Cask at Mr. Goodbar in Buffalo, NY. Pretty much what you’d expect. Golden yellow pour. Heavy on the citra, citrus punch, grapefruit, lemon. Smooth and not too boozy, well made.
3.1 Bottle. A- Mango, papaya, subtle sweet onions, slightly tart. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Medium bitterness, mango, tropical fruits, slightly malty, weed. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, dry bitter finish. O- Everything about this beer told me it was going to be exploding with juicy citrusy goodness. And to a degree, it was there. Mango was the most prominent by far but it was not where it should have been considering what this beer was implying.
2.8 355ml bottle. Golden pour, fluffy white head. Aroma is musty herbs, light vinegar. Flavor is papery and bitter, some melon, okay.
3.5 Bottle from a mix-a-six I assembled at Giant Eagle while in the 216 last week. Pours golden, foamy white head, nose is fruit, grass, malt. Mouth is medium-bodied, dry, fruity (as in tropical like), some grain, grass. Decent.
3.4 The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: golden wih a white head. Aroma is citrus, and even a bit of booze. Plenty of tropical fruit. Juicy and moderately bitter. Kind of sweet aftertaste. Nicely balanced. Has some complexity.
3.5 Orange and mango. quite sweet, perhaps a touch muddled, but still pretty nice. I’d like to try fresh - or with a dated bottle :)
3.4 Pours light gold with a medium white head. Aroma is cat piss, dankness, lemons & light grainy malts. Taste is not quite citrus. There is a very prevalent marijuana-like taste. Actually, when combined with the aroma, marijuana’s all I taste. There is a mellow sweetness and mellow bitterness that runs throughout the profile, but it’s a pretty one dimensional ale. I wonder if it would be more popular in certain states?
4.0 clear orange gold good head. Aroma biscuit malts and mango citra hops. Tastes fresh fruit. Dripping dank mango. Very fresh malts. Winner.
3.5 355 ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange colour with a large white head. Aroma is citrus, hops. Taste is citrus, orange, hops. Medium bitterness. Decent IPA.
3.6 Rated on 8-27-2015 (Bottle) The appearance is a small white head that is fully lasting, medium yellow transparent body, very fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is citrus hops, grapefruit, light orange peel, and malt. The flavor of this beer is moderate bitterness, citrus hops, semi-sweet, grapefruit, light pine hops, and some orange peel. The mouthfeel is moderate carbonation and this is a medium bodied IPA. Overall, this beer is very quaffable and worth trying. It has a light hoppy lingering aftertaste and a very good flavor. This is an IPA that I would definitely drink again.
3.6 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized very white colored bubbles that were very long lasting and left behind a typically carbonated transparent golden orange colored body and a spiderweb lacing. The nice aroma was citrus and hoppy. The sharp mild citrus mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of bitter semi-sweet orange citrus breads fruity and hops. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.
3.3 Bottle. Clean orange with a white head. Loads of lace. Grapefruit and milled grain aromas. Light tropic fruit. Medium to light body. Medium bitterness through out. More tropical fruit, some resin. Nice finish. A good showing of citra hops.
3.7 355ml bottle from Total Wine, Tampa.
3.8 Pours hazy dark yellow with a thick off white head. Aroma of bread and slight citrus. Initial delicate orange with a creamy mouth feel. Finishes with a mild mild pine floral hoppy taste. "Serve at 37 degrees" actually better cold! ---Rated via Beer Buddy
2.7 Thought I’d had. 12oz bottle from Giant Eagle in Grandview: murky gold pour with visible carbonation. aroma of sweet malt, perfume. tastes are caramel malt, wheat, honey, spiced, tropical fruit, grass. had a cardboard vibe. like the brewer, but not this one.
3.8 Draft. Small white head atop crystal clear light amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, tangerine, light pineapple, grapefruit. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, pineapple, some tangerine. Medium body, light resin.
3.7 12 oz bottle. Tasted on 6/15/15. Bottle from Knightly Liquor. Drank from snifter glass.
4.0 2-4 oz bottle pour at SAVOR 2015’s Saturday night session. Golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of citrus, floral notes. Tastes of citrus, floral notes, oranges, grapefruit, pine. Medium body with a dry finish. Nice IPA.
4.2 Excellent IPA and a good use of citra. Nose starts very citrusy, with orange, grapefruit and lime notes, and then settles into tropical fruit mango and pineapple. Flavor has some light honeyed malts but is mostly dry, with a twangy resiny bitterness of citrus rind, and then a really long big bitterness at the finish. Clear gold, white foam.
3.8 Pours bright straw color with a white head. Aromas of citrus and pine. Flavors of orange and a little pear with pine but not overpowering. Little lacing in the glass. Overall nice refreshing ale with light mouth feel.
3.3 Resinous, doughy, pineapple pastry aroma... implied cinnamon and faintly diacetyl. Clear, light citrine. Standard longneck, bad label. Medium body, peppery mouthfeel. Kinda your typical session APA /AIPA. Interesting enough. ABC Liquors, Betton.
3.4 Tallahassee, Fl - Market Square Liquors - 12 oz bottle. Light golden. sparkling, with a soft soapy white head that leave a light film of lacing behind. Strong spruce aroma, hint of spearmint. Catty, citrusy flavor with a touch of mango fruitiness, Some caramel malty sweetness in the back end. Nicely textured mouthfeel. Pretty decent. Nice to see this brewer making its way down here.
3.5 Aroma floral, citrus, resin, Appearance golden, amber, clear, minimal head, white foam, Taste light sweetness, medium bitterness, Palate medium body, average carbonation, Overall a really enjoyable American Indian pale ale that I would suggest to a friend
3.5 Bottle from baldwizard, pours light copper, off white head leaves a sticky lacing trail, passes some light. Light cereal nose. Taste has some solid bitterness, skunky, catty hop prsense. Light body with a slightly lingering finish.
3.0 couldn’t find a date code, and i suspect this was an older bottle, because i am not getting any of those beautiful citrus notes you’d expect from citra. nice malt body, though.
