Cider is matured in Whisky Casks from Glen Moray Distillery. Just enough time passes for the cider to absorb the distinctive tones of the oak and Highland single malt.

3.4On tap at CiderCider, Rotterdam. Very pale greenish gold. Mild apple juice aroma with a light whiskey touch. Sweet apple, very gentle, nice balance with peat and barrel. Refreshing, light body. Floral touch, soft vanilla. Fruity palate coating, quite complex. Soft to moderate carbonation.
2.6Pale yellow. Sweet cider flavor with a smokey and woody taste. Unusual but doesn’t really go as good together as a whiskey barrel beer.
1.0(je dois pas m’y connaître en cidre, vu les avis, mais là, on est sur un jus de pomme du plus mauvais goût)
3.9I was reading about this cider and then saw it on Rakuten so picked one up, I think it was just 300¥ or so too!
Thistly Cross 6.9%
Whiskey Cask Cider
Clear gold with a fizzy champagne like head that quickly vanished. The aroma is sweet apples, mild sweet whiskey and oak. Full bodied but ending very dry. This is delicious with a big bold fruity apple at first then sweet whiskey notes with a touch of oak and smoke while in the aftertaste you get tart apples priming you for the next sip. Excellent and good value. If you see it in Japan get it.
2.4Monday, September 24, 2018. Bottle, 33cL. 6.9%. Purchase ("La Minute Blonde", Bessines(79), FR). Home. A pale yellow silver clear cider ; bubbly ; average white head ; no retention. Quince, water, apple compote. Light to medium round sweet, medium dry refreshing. Light body, thin oily texture, soft gaseous, sweet fruity refreshing short finish. Overall, average.
3.5BAF! 2018. Sample from tap at CiderCider. Somewhat unclear golden with white head. Sweet apples, custardy, wood, vanilla, whiskey grain, rum. Moderate sweet and bitter, about medium dry. Medium body and a soft fizz.
3.8Bottle from Stadsbrouhuis. Pale yellow. Quite round and rich with peatiness coming through strong. Nice if still a little too sweet for my taste

3.4Shared 500 ml bottle, from Aberdeen Country Fair. ABV is 6.9%. Very pale straw colour. Nice aroma of apples, only a hint of cider cask. Sweet apples in the flavour too, with subtle notes of whisky cask.
4.0Shared bottle at RB/HD at Bjørnøy 26.01.18. Clear pale yellow. A few bubbles of white head. Fine aroma of apple cider and vanilla. Similar taste, with a hint of oak and smoke. Slightly astringent mouthfeel.
3.0330 ml bottle bought at Wanderer Cider's booth during the 15th Hong Kong Food Festival in HKCEC, Wanchai.
Clear very pale golden colour; Virtually no head with residual soapy white foam which fades in 5 seconds; No lacing with notable sparse carbonation; Fragrant aroma of sweet apple wine, with vanilla, oak barrel, very light whisky, mashed apple, sugar, light yoghurt, and light tannin; Medium sweet taste of fair juicy apple wine, with light oak barrel, light vanilla, Sherry, fair alcohol, mashed apple, sugar, yoghurt, light tartness, and fair tannin; Light body. Watery palate; Mouth feel is watery scrumpy in a very runny background, with a light but decent touch of smooth oak barrel, Sherry and vanilla. More boozier than the Thistly Cross Original, with lesser apple and yoghurty character. Sweet and tannic finish. Okay... Slightly dry after taste. Oaky boozy and easy to mouth.
Comments: This is the Thisty Cross Original being treated by the Whisky Cask, which is lighter than cask lovers expected, but it lends a fairly nice, oaky Sherry-like characters to an otherwise watery and character-lacking cider. After having half a dozen ciders from this brand, all I can say is that it promise much but the delivery is paper thin, not even the whisky barrel can save the day.
3.2Draught dispense at the Unicorn Hotel (JDW), Ripon. Loose white head. Clear gold body.Nose is acetone, oak, apple juice and alcohol. Sweet with a dry finish.
3.8This is kind of a hard one to call. The effect of the whiskey Cask on the cider is extremely subtle. I couldn't pick it up in the aroma at all and it is just barely there in the flavor. While I think it would be very easy to overdo it on the other hand it's so slight that it might have been under played as well so here we are. It's good cider.
3.5Tap at BAF 2017. Hazy pale straw with some bubbles. Sweet apple, vanilla, soft whisky, melon, light sugary, pears, a hint of ash and minerals. Medium sweet and a touch of sourness. Medium bodied with sparkly carbonation. Not bad!
3.5Pint at Clachaig Inn draft. Clear gold with a medium heavy lacing white head. Nose is sweet red apples, Scotch whiskey, and a hint of oak,. Flavor is lightly sweet with a hint of tart apples, Scotch whiskey, and oak.Very nice with the single malt background. Probably will need a second pint rather than a lager beer rating.
3.5Pours from the bottle clear champagne color with visible bubbles, sweet start with a little dry finish
3.5Bottle from Marks & Sparks in Rickmansworth, Herts. A clear golden coloured pour with a very thin white head on top. Sweet, apple and whisky notes. Tastes much the same, sweet, apple, whisky, some vanilla too. I really enjoyed this, my first cider rate.
2.5Sampled @ Düsseldorfer Craftbier Festival 2017. Klare hell goldgelbe Farbe. Geruch nach apfelsaft, mild holzig. Geschmack ist süß, süße Äpfel, Zucker, langweilig.
2.8Sampled from bottle at Craft Beer Festival Düsseldorf 2017. Clear, pale golden yellow, no head. Sweetish, sourish-fruity aroma of apples, some wood and hints of whisky. Very sweet, just minimally sourish, fruity taste of apples, vanilla and some wood, followed by a short, minimally tart, a little woody finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay!
Alcol presente.
3.1From 33cl bottle. Pours fully transparent canary yellow with very limited and not persistent foam. Aroma is fruity, though the apple character is not so strong. The influence of whisky barrel aging is not so evident. Body is medium-light, very low carbonation. Taste is definitely sweet, with a pleasant bitterish feeling in the final, which is still rather short.
3.0Draught @ The Flying Chariot, Terminal 2, Heathrow Airport. Pours light golden with a few offwhite bubbles for a head. Aroma of sweet, apples, light wood, light notes of whisky. Flavor is light sweet, ripe apples, light wood, oak, mild whisky notes. Medium body, flat carbonation, light sweet finish. 140317
3.4Bottle from ciderandmore.de. Pours clear yellow. Nose is sour apple, oak. Palate is mostly sour apple. This is good, but I don’t really notice the whiskey, just a nice sour cider.
2.7Aroma: apples and very weak woody notes.
Appearance: clear golden and thin white head.
Taste: sweet baked apples, tanines, weak woody, semi-sweet.
Palate: medium body and medium carbonation.
Overall: 5 years ago was better, expected something more intensive.
3.3From 330ml bottle. Pours straw yellow with some lively carbonation, but no head. You do get a hint of whisky in the aroma. A sweet tasting cider, pleasant refreshing palate of ripe apple and a hint of whisky.
