3.1 courtesy of bluesandbarbq. pours dark orange with a thick foamy (everlasting) head. smell is mainly of pine and malt...not much floral or citrus in the nose. not a lot of complexity in the flavor. reminds me a little of a Rogue beer. Simple malts and bittering hop finish."
3.8 A more unique IPA than most I've had. First tastes were very nutty and grassy; tasted almonds. Good malts, caramel was strong. Although they advertised it to be for a hop head, id say it's more PG13 on the hops. Good beer none the less. Not memorable but very drinkable
3.3 bottle @ Habersham Beverage / Savannah GA --- Clear dark amber with a light tan head cover, heavy mottled curtain of lace. Taste is malt that moves neatly to a medium citrus hop finish. Just a good solid IPA, nothing special, not over-the-top, but good at what it is doing.
3.4 A - clear light straw color with two finger white head A - great aroma with centennial hop T - good malt body with a citrus burst and a dry finish M - nicely carbonated O - good beer that has citrus hop flavor on the front end and bitter dry finish
3.3 Pours a deep golden brown on tap with fluffy white head that leaves light lace. Aroma is malt forward, caramel and biscuit, with a nice piney earth hop back end. Taste follows, nice balance of flavors but nothing stands out. Decent.
4.0 Bottle @ Lilla Puben, Kalmar. Malty and hoppy with caramel notes, fruity and quite sweet, grapefruit and pine needles, medium body and oily texture. The finish is dry and bitter with hoppy notes and caramel.
3.0 12 oz Bottle. Tasted on 6/27/14. Beer from Total Wine Tampa, FL. The aroma has some hops & pretty dry. The taste is pretty bland an average ipa overall.
3.5 Amber golden clear body capped by an off-white head. Floral, caramel and pine aromas. Malt and hop profiles produce good balance of flavors.
3.1 How: Bottle. Where: NK Bar, Stockholm. Appearance: Amber colour with a white head. Aroma: Hops, floral, some perfume, fruit. Body: Light body, medium carbonation. Flavour: Hops, perfume, grapefruit, grass, fruit.
4.0 Backlog. Bottle at Tröls. One of my favourite American IPAs mostly because we’re not sacrificing any malt-aromas in order to bring forth the hoppiness.
3.5 undated 12 oz bottle served in a lager glass. Pours deep-amber. The tan head is large, creamy and thick for the style. Plenty of sticky lacing is left on the glass. Smell: Aromatic, with a surprising amount of bread dough mixed in with the floral/earthy hops and toasted malt. Rather malt forward for an IPA. T: The taste is rather malty, like the smell, but the spicy/earthy hops come through more. M: Medium bodied; nicely smooth; slightly dry finish. Excellent for style. O: A solid IPA coming from a reliable, if rather mainstream, brewer. Hoppiness will not satisfy some hop heads. {lightly revised with fresh bottle in Feb. 2014)
3.2 Caramel and grapefruit flavors, with only moderate hop bitterness. Hints of sour apples and toasted grain. Good flavors, just not enough of them. Very average IPA.
3.5 Poured from the bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a semi-hazy dark amber color with a large, creamy, light tan head with good retention, cling, and lacing. Its aroma featured a blend of light caramel malt and sugar mixed with some earthy, grainy, and light citrus hop flavors. The beer was mostly bitter with flavors of grain and citrus, along with some straw and a lightly sweet maltyness. The beer had a fairly full mouthfeel with a thicker feel and was a bit dry with ample carbonation. Thank you to Siobhan for the Christmas present.
4.3 This is one of my favorite IPAs. Rich caramel flavors with a crisp citrusy hoppy taste at the end. Not overly hoppy and not incredibly alcoholic. A great session IPA.
3.5 Aroma - malt is somewhat muted under the resiny hops, you know this will be oily. The bark is bigger than the bite. Appearance - is a nice orange body with a full blown white head. The head dissipates, but leaves an amazing lace. Full on stockings!!! Whaaaat!!! Taste - the taste is a medium bitter, with a nice pine, some oil, and a dough malt. Palate - the body is medium, the texture on the oily side, the finish sort of abrupt for an IPA with only a mild bitter wave.
3.0 12oz bottle from Whole Foods in Greenville, SC. Copper-orange pour with a fluffy light tan head. Aroma of toasty malt, caramel, candy. Tastes on the sweet malty side also - with citrus and light pepper. Floral and slightly astringent in the finish. 6.0
2.9 Bottle from Total Wine in Stuart. Pours a golden orange with a white head leaving some nice lacing. Aroma has heavy sour fruits, with citrus and toffee. Somewhat earthy. Taste is of grapefruit, lemon zest, crystal malts and some sour fruits. Medium bodied and dry. Finishes bitter with some sourness. No date on the bottle so hoping it is just old and not bad. Not a fan.
3.0 It’s a good IPA, it just doesn’t seem all that original or different from what’s currently out there. Lots of good grapefruit flavor and a darker hue. That’ s about all that’s worth pointing out.
3.1 Very average IPA. It’s OK (except for some cardboard quality) but nothing distinguishing about it all.
3.4 Welcoming citrus aroma, amber medium bodied with sharp bitterness and caramel malt backbone. Textbook well built India Pale Ale.
3.1 Bottle. Hazy golden amber color, medium white head. Aroma of citrus and pine. Taste is similar.
3.3 The beer looked quite nice, with a clear, orange-amber body, and a large head. The smell was too mild for the style, with perfumey hops and toasted malts. The taste was quite bitter, with a metallic tang. There was caramel malt besides the hop bitterness, and not much else. The finish was very dry. The beer was among a mixed six pack of IPA’s I picked up at the store last week. I doubt I will go back for this one again very soon. It wasn’t bad, just not memorable.
3.3 Bottle. Pours clear amber with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is toast malt, citrus and pine hops. Flavor is heavy hops and bitterness with supporting malt and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.
2.5 Bottle from Roger Wilco. Pours out a muddy copper color with a moderate off white head. Aroma is of old vegetables, fresh cut grass and caramel, yuck. Taste is equally as odd, one dimensional grassy hops, caramel, cardboard, light sweet citrus bitterness.
3.5 12oz bottle. Pours a deep golden color with frothy creamy white head. Grassy and floral hop aroma. Interesting flavor- bitter as you would expect from an IPA, but some roasted malt flavor as well. Pretty good.
3.2 Light amber appearance. Sips medium bodied. Dry middle and finish. Very crisp and clean. Low abv is refreshing yet nicely hopped.
3.4 From a bottle poured a copper color with a fair amount of head. Nice hoppy flavor with a lingering aftertaste.
3.4 (Draught. Oliver Twist Stockholm). The scent is pleasant with nice hoppy aromas with elements of sweet tropical fruits, flowers and a some caramelmalt. The taste is sweet caramel malt, but very subdued, and mostly of a distinct hoppy aroma. In the finish and the aftertaste emerges a dry bitterness with hints of grapefruit.
3.4 355 ml bottle, rated from backlog. Clear amber with medium off white head. Aroma has malt, caramel and lots of hops. Smells a bit oily. Taste is malty, medium dry with caramel and citrus hops
3.4 12oz bottle. Pours an orange amber with a nice pillowy head of tight white bubbles. Sprucy and grassy hops are the primary aroma, supported by sweet malt. Flavors are caramel malt, bread, toffee and a hop bite that cleanses rather than dominates the flavor. A little too sweet, but otherwise a balanced IPA that leans toward American amber.
