3.9 Bottled as Thornbridge Bear State. Foggy golden pour. Moderate white gead. Average lacing. Aroma: fruity hops with citrusy and tropical nuances. Supporting honey malts. Medium body. Soft carbonation. Initial taste sweetness. Clean honey malts. After that the hops rule the world. Big grapefruit. Other citrus notes. Something tropical. Medium plus bitterness. Perfect drinkability.
3.6 Bottle. BBE Jan 2018; Drank Oct 2017 - Clear orange gold in colour. Medium creamy white head. Very fruity; citrus grapefruit and orange, peach. Hoppy; heavy hop bitterness, piney resinous hops. Malty; toasty malts, caramel. Sweet citrus fruity and piney hoppy throughout. Bitter finish. Decent. (2017-10)
3.7 [as Thornbridge Bear State] Bottiglia.
3.7 Bottle, 330 ml, from Pivoljub, as Bear State. Shared with JFK10000. Clear golden, white head. Hoppy, grassy, citrus, light to medium bodied. Moderate to lasting bitterness. Easy drinkable, maybe a bit thin, but a nice brew.
3.7 I don’t know how they achieve that drinkability - but it does it really matter, important is that it works.
1.0 Woosh! You smell and taste this and you feel the breaker washing over you! Ah, the sea! The sea! Salty, wavy goodness. (Or it could be the municipal pool where someone just turned on the newly repaired wave machine!) But then... Argh no! You are actually at Fukushima and it is all radioactive and bitter and awful! And someone near you just did a poo at the shallow end.
3.8 (bottle, 33cl, as Bear State, 7.0% abv) Hazy, golden colour with a blond mid-sized frothy head. Pronounced hoppy, mainly fruity and delicately resiny aroma with notes of citrus, grapefruit, pineapple and lemongrass, backed by a hearty, subtle honey-ish malty touch. Moderately bitter flavour, medium bodied with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. Dry malty base with a touch of crackers and present fruity hoppy notes, lingering into the lasting bitter hoppy, fruity and slightly resiny finish. Very good. 05.VIII.17
3.9 the aroma is fruity and hoppy with hints of pine, orange, grapefruit, key lime and spicy herbs... the taste is fruity and hoppy with notes of grapefruit, pine needles, key lime, lemon peel and spicy grasses... bitter and dry aftertaste...
3.8 0,33l bottle, title "Bear State West Coast IPA". Pours golden with medium sized white head. Tropic fruits, orange, caramel malts. Really good.
3.9 Bottle at home. Pours golden with medium sized white head. Aroma has orange and grapefruit. Taste is citrus and pine. Full palate. Quite nice.
4.2 Sold as Bear State on tap at Black Isle Bar, Inverness. Pours gold/amber with full white head that persists. Aroma citrus, tropical fruits and peach. Taste is quite sweet and luscious, dominated by fruity US hops but also caramel malts noticeable. Alcohol is well disguised in the full body. Not much residual hop bitterness. Overall a really good West Coast IPA. Highly recommend.
3.5 On tap at Brewers Cooperative. Pours straw. Grapefruit, orange, pine, pithy bitterness, some caramelised peel stuff in there too. Decent balance, good body, nice.
Carbonatación a tope. Textura acuosa y algo chispeante. Aroma herbal, a pino, ligeros cítricos. Amargor suave. Seca.
3.6 On tap at Haand Festival. As Bear State, A clear, golden colored beer with a nice off-white head. Piney, lightly grassy aroma with some pale malts and notes of hay. It’s a bit sweet on the palate, with a decent bitterness. It’s full bodied and with a pleasant carbonation. Pine cones, some grass and pale malts in the flavor, and a lasting finish. A nice and refreshing beer that shouldn’t scare many. 160527

3.9 September 24, 2015 - at Craft (Covent Garden) - keg draught. As Thornbridge Bear State. Hazy orange-gold with a decent lasting fizzy/foamy tight off-white head. Aroma is resin, alcohol, citrus zest - lush, grainy, good. Taste follows - straight bottle-conditioned cloudy west coast IPA; resin, citrus, a bit tart and floral - a good one. Average body, strong carbonation, quick lively but a surprisingly quickish crisp finish. Will watch for this one in the future.
3.7 33cl Bottle at The Black Smith, as Bear State. Slightly hazy golden orange colour, white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, citrus, resin, cookie, some caramel, orange jelly. Flavour is medium sweet, citrus, resin, hint of grass, caramel, light floral, some mango, decent bitter finish. Light to medium bodied. Tasty fruity IPA.
3.6 Sampled as Bear State. Nice aroma of tropical fruits. Rather malty for a West Coast IPA, almost like a double IPA. Hop taste is also less than expected from the aroma while a strong bitterness ends this nice beer
3.6 Bottled: Pours clear amber with a nice head. Aroma is dough, ripe fruit and some pine needles. Flavour is grape fruit with some notes of pine needles. Long bitterness. Somewhat sharp mouth feel. A solid IPA.
3.7 Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket, as "Thornbridge Bear State". Aroma is tropical fruity hops, citrus, peach, pale malt, grapefruit, with a touch of pine and mild floral notes. Flavour is above moderate sweet with a bitter finish. Body is medium. Gets the job done, well-hopped IPA.
3.6 Bottle from premier Store, Farsley. Boozy aroma, tastes of fruit which lingers. Packs a bit of a punch couldn’t have too many of these. Quite complex....
3.5 Aroma: Medium aroma of malts, caramel, fruit, hops and citrus. Appearance: Turbid golden/amber beer with heavy yeast and with a slight/medium white/off-white head. Taste/Palate: Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel and fruit; ends slightly bitter and dry with hops and citrus. Overall: This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. In terms of aroma and flavour; this beer is decent, but nothing more than that. The great appearance is the best aspect of this beer.
3.7 Bottle. Creamy White good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Heavy hopppy and moderate malty aroma. Heavy bitter wonderfull flavor. long moderate bitter finsh. Oily palate. NIce.
3.6 Hazy, orange, stable white head. Aroma: tropical, sweet citrus, herbs. Taste: moderate bitter. Flavour: rotten fruit, guelder rose berries (Viburnum opulus), some warming alcohol. Good hoppy with prominent alcohol notes.
4.0 Bottle at Beer Zone, Iasi, Ro. Golden amber colour, slightly hazy, with medium off-white head. Malty, hoppy nose with notes of citrus, grapefruit and a touch of resin. Hoppy taste, dry and lasting bitterness. One of my favourites. Very good.
3.7 medium, to strong aroma - herbal hops, green and succulency herbs, with a lot of flower, pine needles, partly ripe yellow fruits, some yeasts. medium to strong taste - intense bitterness of herbal hops, green and succulency herbs, dandelion sap, pine needles, partly yellow ripe fruits, some green apricots. with an aggressive bitterness, but very good!
