2.2 Pours light yellow with a small white top. Aroma is cereal grains and not much else. Taste is light and grainy with a slight newspaper aftertaste. Earlier Rating: 12/22/2011 Total Score: 3.1 Pours a clear golden yellow with a fizzy white head. Aroma is grain and malt. Taste is a fresh, crisp malt forward pilsner. Good beer.
2.6 Where/How : LCBO, Can 473 ml Aroma: quiet Canadian vibe I am getting, some of caramel, corn sweetness with mild hop side to it. Look: pored with larger foamy cap, average lifespan. Base dark gold. Body/Palate: medium lighter bodied, high carbonation, shorter finish. Taste: Frisky hop sided brew. Slightly silky texture with drier hoppy walls. Sounds decent , but the truth is feels quiet generic. Earlier Rating: 10/20/2002 Total Score: 3.4 Another good regional lager. It had nice white head, gaseous with life! Slightly weak aroma that was just right. Bready, malty some hops.
3.0 Dark gold, tiny white head. Pale malts, slightly corny grains, no hops. Thin mouth feel, flat carb. Finish is super dry, zero bitterness, slight hay, and some soft breadiness. Earlier Rating: 7/6/2007 Total Score: 3.6 Another pils made by and Ontario micro that you would think came from germany in a blind taste test. Great bready malty aroma and flavour. Superb balance, a great pils.
3.0 473 ml can from LCBO, served cold-ish in a tulip glass. App.: Clear golden with a fragile white head. Aroma: Grainy maltiness and lactic tang, light to moderate Noble hop pepperiness, a little cracker and bread crust, definitely infected. Palate: Medium+ body, moderate carbonation, smooth. Flav.: Starts with a distinctive but not unpleasant lactic acid note, grainy Pils malt and light grassy/peppery hops after that, more acid than the nose; off-dry with fair bitterness and a grainy, yogurt-like finish. The acid note is almost enjoyable. Not in the least bit appropriate. Earlier Rating: 5/5/2010 Total Score: 3.3 341 bottle in 6-pack from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass. App.: Clear golden with a fair, bright white foam. Aroma: Some decent corny cereal/grain/malt, slightly sweet and dusty, some grassy, peppery hops, light wet hay, wee hint of esters. Palate: Medium body, sparse carbonation. Flav.: The hop pepperiness is more pronounced, still some decent light malts and biscuit, grassy, slight wet hay, a wee touch fruity; dry with fair bitterness and a pleasant malty finish. Seems decent.
3.0 Smells like apples and grains. Tastes a bit lemony with very little spiciness. Drinkable but pretty bland
3.0 473 mL can. Looks okay - gold with a bit of white head. Pretty much smells like a pilsner - you can definitely smell the malt. Flavour is a bit on the sweet side, but otherwise it’s okay. Nothing special. Earlier Rating: 7/29/2009 Total Score: 3.2 Pint on tap at Ritz Deli North. Gold with a short-lived white head. Grassy aroma of pilsner malt and noble hops - not too strong. Flavour can be described in the same way. Could perhaps finish a little dryer. More cautious than bold, but an accurate and tasty representation of the style.
3.0 473 ml can from LCBO. Pours a clear golden colour with modest-sized white head. Aroma is pretty straightforward grass and graininess. Flavour has lightly honeyed grains and a modest grassiness. Average body. Serviceable pilsener with no obvious quality control issues (in contrast to the Jubilee). Earlier Rating: 4/3/2010 Total Score: 3.4 341 ml bottle from brewery. Pours a clear yellowish gold with moderate white head settling to a small white cap. Aroma is a good balance of bready malts and grassy hops. Taste starts bready but fairly strong, bitter grassy finish. Rather pleasant especially on a warm day.
3.4 Pours a bubbly, clear gold with an average size diminishing creamy white head. Sweet and hoppy aroma. Taste is a good balance of hops & malts with a decent bitter finish.
3.0 this is authentic sylistically, quite enjoyable. Great carbonation level, beautiful color .
3.1 Pours golden with thick white head. Mild hop aroma. Tastes of biscuit, hops and honey. Lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Nice.
3.0 I don’t know why I expected, or hoped, that this would be good. Actually I do. It’s all Freaky Tiki’s fault that I keep buying these mediocre pilsners, hoping in vain that I will stumble upon that elusive four-star pilsner of my dreams. Surely to god there must be one great example out there? At any rate, this is not it. Pour is pretty, but pretty typical. Quick-fading head and no retention. Nose of grain and corn and faint noble hops. Taste of grain and corn and mineral water, although it’s got a nice lingering bitterness. But it’s weirdly not that crisp. Being kind of flat doesn’t help. Overall I’m with Tiki: this stuff is ok.
1.6 went camping and my brother in law throws a brown paper bag at me filled with pint sized beers and says, "Nate went to Canada and brought these back for your rateBeer ticks." I paraphrased a little but you get the idea. It was skunky.
3.0 473 ml can from LCBO. Pours a hazy golden colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet with notes of malt and bread. Taste is malt. Refreshing on hot summer days.
2.0 Bready aroma. Clear gold colour. Bitterness upfront with crisp finish. Flavour of biscuit, light malt, and hops. Medium body with lively carbonation. Quote pleasant.
2.9 Can shared at a tasting at the Beer and Beyond shop. Thanks Excellent Little Brother! Hazy gold with white film. Grainy aroma with apparent sazz grassy hops. Grassy taste, delicate bitterness with hints of grainy sweetness that then disappears in favor of bitterness. Light body, delicate fizz, bitter finish.
2.7 This pils poured a slightly cloudy yellow colour with a quick living, bright white head. Scents include hops, corn, bread and grass. First swig was smooth with a slightly thin mouthfeel and flavours of perfume, bread and malt with a little corn. Finish is a little bitter with hop flavor flavor lingering.
3.5 473ml can. Pours a clear golden colour with a one and a half finger, fluffy white head that leaves great lacing. Mild carbonation rising. Aroma is pleasant with notes of grain, and some hop fruitiness. Taste is well balanced with notes of bready grain, traditional hops, and a mild aftertaste. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Slightly creamy texture in the mouth with a gentle carbonation. Overall I really like this. Good pilsner flavour paired with a great mouth feel and that looks great. Would gey again.
1.7 Can sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks kerenmk. Pours yellow slightly hazy with a small head, aroma of honey, grain and mushrooms, flavor is slightly bitter and harsh, malty and sweet, light bodied.
2.0 Can sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks kerenmk. Slightly hazy yellowish gold. Aroma of graininess, DMS and a bit of cardboard. Sweetish and grainy flavor, a bit corny, with a bitterish finish with a papery note. Quite light-bodied.
1.8 Slightly darker golden colour with a clear profile. Muted aroma, some dried hay and not much else in the nose. On the palate it is slightly sweet, has a hoppy finish and a weird mercaptan kinda butteryness. Not good.
2.9 Pours olive oil yellow with a skinny picket fence white cap. You get your typical pilsner, rebooted in Ontario, with a taste that reminds me of 100 last calls in a hundred mediocre pubs. Reviewer below me writes that this has "got a ton of hops" & I’m thinking we are not on the planet let alone the same beer. In one word this beer is ... Ok.
2.5 King Pilsner (the Candian King Brewery) This one only recently started showing up at local LCBOs. Very pale gold pour with a really clingy lacy head. Tons of carbonation. Smell is grassy and hoppy. Taste is unique. It’s got a ton of hops and grainyness as expedcted but there’s something bready and earthy there. A lot of depth for a Pilsner.
3.0 473ml can. Pours clear golden with a small disappearing white head. Aroma of grass, bread and sweet malts. Taste is grassy and spicy hops with some fruity and buttery notes. Crisp and clean with a nice bitterness. Good pils.
3.3 473 mL can. Pours golden with a tight white head that leaves a little lace. Bready and biscuity, hints of grass and floral notes. Subtly sweet with a refreshingly bitter finish. Full bodied with moderate carbonation. A great lager.
3.4 473 ml can. Pours a slightly orange yellow with a fine white head. Aroma is slightly citrus or metallic with a hint of malt. Flavour is crisp and very clean with more malt. Early finish is malty while the late is nicely bitter.
2.6 2013/09/04 - Pours a yellow/orange gold colour with a small white that reduces quickly. Aroma is grass, cereal, metal and slight apples. Taste is similar to nose with a sharp and mildly hoppy aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium, with low carbonation and a mildly drying finish. Somewhat bland.
2.8 Draft. Pours yellow gold with medium head that quickly dissipates. Weak hoppy aroma. Light flavor of hops and cereals with a clean finish. Nice Pilsner
2.5 For a Pilsner it is not bad. I mean i guess I am never going to find a Pilsner that scores really high for me as they just always lacking that extra taste. But when comparing Pilsner to another Pilsner it is one of the better ones.
2.5 Bottle - 341ml. Bland blond body with a thin white foamy head. Boring malty/hoppy aroma with some light herbal and bready hints. Decent taste slightly dominated by hoppy flavors. Ends with a short bitter/herbal finish. Ordinary.
