Three Floyds Apocalypse Cow

Three Floyds Apocalypse Cow

This complex double India pale ale has an intense citrus and floral hop aroma balanced by a velvety malt body which has been augmented with lactose milk sugar. With this different take on an IPA we have brewed an ale that is both pleasing to drink and, once again, “not normal.” Cheers! 100 IBU 11.0%ABV (used to be 9.5%)

4.3 Very good. Near clear golden pour with white head. Aroma is overripe sweet fruit. Taste is grapefruit, light caramel and bitter hops. Good stuff.
3.8 Pouts slightly hazy gold with thick tight head. Aroma is fruity with some dank hops and caramel malt. Flavor is pineapple some pine and creamy malt. Lots of booze and smoothness that makes it not a top shelf hop beast...but still pretty good.
3.4 Orange pour with white head. Citrus, biscuity malts, honey and moderately bitter. Smooth for high ABV.
4.8 Awesome bottle and a very smooth taste - bottle looks great - would highly recommend
4.0 Bottle was given to me from my brother in law. Pours a clear golden, copper, white head dies leaving sheets of lace. Nose is sweet floral citrus hops, good caramel background. Tastes sweet, grapefruit hop bitterness. Quite sweet. I like it.
3.5 Pours a slight hazy with about quarter inch white creamy head. Head disappears but leaves plenty of lacing. Sweet but crisp aroma. Sweet up front and a lingering pithy bitterness
4.2 Awesome! Tropical fruit and pineapple in the nose and tatse. Gives way to a thick bittersweet finish.
4.3 Bomber from the brewpub shop. Poured into a snifter. A cloudy deep orange color with a frothy white head. Lots of lacing on the glass. Lots of juicy citrus and pine. Creamy mouthfeel. Very well balanced and smooth. Nice finish. I suppose I need to go back to Indiana again.
3.3 Opaque apricot color with a dense white head. Aroma is tangerine and candied orange peel. Taste is the same, and cloyingly sweet.
4.1 Poured from a bottle that a mule dropped off behind a dumpster. Orange-copper with mild haze, thick persistent lacey head. Malts, resin and stone fruit on the nose. Taste is orange, pith, peach and plum, some almond esters. Booze is present but wouldn't suggest this high an ABV. Fine carbonation blooms over time. Medium to heavy body; thick and chewy and a bit oily. Finish is tangerine, malts, and leathery bitterness. Really complex, classic American style IPA. Excellent.
4.2 Bottle pour. Pours a pale amber. Heavy malts on the nose. Medium bodied - heavy bitterness, solid malt and hop mix. Great finish. Really good.
3.7 Bomber. Pours a medium gold with a very slight haze and a big frothy head. Aromas are faintly honey-like without much of a hops presence. Flavor is booze bomb with a bit of hops... it’s really interesting, but not maybe the end all of beer-geek-dom. There is quite a bit of sweetness to this beer, but not enough of a hops presence for it to balance well as a DIPA. It’s definitely unique, but odd.
4.3 22 ounce bottle into signature teku glass, bottled on 6/15/2017. Pours slightly hazy golden amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, honey, light caramel, lightly toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, lactose, and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, honey, light caramel, lightly toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, papaya, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, honey, light caramel, lightly toasted bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, lactose, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.6%. Overall this is an incredible DIPA! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, lactose, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the balanced bitter/drying finish. Very vibrant, juicy, and lightly dank hops; great malt balance, without being overly sweet or heavy feeling. Feels like a slightly sweeter Dreadnaught. Very similar on hop profile and bitterness. A highly enjoyable offering.
3.6 Bottle. Pours dark amber. Sweet aroma and citrus. The palate is full body. There is a sweet lactose taste. Then a citrus taste. Good.
3.9 Tap at 3 Floyd’s. Golden with spotty white lacing. Pineapple, bubblegum, resin, powdered sugar and oatmeal. Fairly sweet with a strong fruity bitter taste. Heavy body with a film feel.
3.9 Aroma is full of all those tropical notes you long for, grapefruit, mango, peach with some resin. Taste is on the sweeter side with a resiny and light herbal touch. Fruits once again, such as apricots and sweet peaches. There’s a smooth and slick mouthfeel, which I only can guess is from the lactose. Jammy, fruity and lactose smooth. Great stuff!
3.7 Refrigerated brown bomber June 29, 2016 poured into snifter. Hazy orange with small white head. Aroma is herbal hops, medium body, medium/lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is herbal hops, and lactose.
3.5 Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer.
4.2 Pours murky yellow. Malty with a creamy mouthfeel. Mild citrus Orange hops with a hint hint of spice. Long mild malty hop finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
3.7 On tap. Golden color with one finger head. Tropical fruit, mango. Taste is similar with peach as well. Nice warm finish.
3.9 Bomber from Hot Rod. Milk Suger is definitely a unique approach. Creates a complex beer.
3.7 Bottle in Seattle. Thanks Pruf! Creamy foam, creamy orange body. Big worty sweet grain aroma. Firm heavy IPA body with a twist of lacto smack in the middle. A bit of a honey note, but generally feels to me like it accentuates a character in some strong ipas of creamy, bitter grain. Tasty but I’m not sold on the style. Creamy string bitter finish with some hot alc notes.
3.7 Big thanks to Matt for sharing the bottle. Hazy orange pour. Nose is heavy on the malt, as expected. Hops sit behind some sugary malts. Smells like wort. Like walking down a street when the nearby brewery is mid-boil. Chewy. More bitterness in the flavor. Finish is candied citrus resin. Interesting add with the lactose. Really not bad, though I’ve never been big on midwest IPAs.
4.0 Wow, holy cow. Malt body with velvet smoothness leads to pure crisp hop flavor and a touch of alcohol heat. But still drinkable. The malt keeps it from a pure hop bomb, but tons of hop flavor that lingers on the plate. A touch resinous but a big beer that you can sip and lose track of. Must love hops.
4.0 Bottle. Pours a hazy goldenish color. Aroma and taste are tons of juicy citrus, tropical fruits, and sweet malts.
3.7 A really intense beer. Pours an orangish color. Good and hoppy. 3 Floyds muy bueno
3.9 Old notes. Draught @ Mikkeller Bar Sthlm 6/9-14. App: Somewhat hazy golden amber with a creamy dirt white head leaving some lace. Aroma: Sticky sweet bitter aroma with grapefruit, mango, apricot, litchi and resin as well as sticky caramel and some toast. Taste: Also on the sweet side with apricot, grapefruit, lychee with caramel and toast and a resiny herbal bitter finish with a pinch of alcohol. Palate: Bigger body with soft carbonation and a sticky oily texture. Overall: A sweet and robust sticky DIPA with lots of jammy fruits like apricot. Bold, but well made and tasty.
4.3 Very good. But I prefer malt sweetness to cow. Great hop qualities. Odd palate. I’d have again.
3.9 Bottle brought back from Milwaukee. Pour is a hazy, golden color. I do get much on the nose. Taste is subdued bitterness with a moderately strong malt character. Great mouth feel. Very nice imperial IPA.
3.9 (bottle - 22 oz) Copper pour with a thick white head. Surprising low amount of hops in the aroma. Tons of sweet malts with some caramel hints. Flavor has a big hop bite near the finish after a citrusy and malty forefront. Really smooth and a great aftertaste. [9/10/15]
