Three Floyds Gumballhead

Three Floyds Gumballhead

An American Wheat Beer brewed with red wheat and boat loads of amarillo hops gives this summer brew a lemony finish. The slight haze in the bottle is from the bottle-conditioning, where yeast is added to the bottle for a secondary fermentation. Gumballhead is a Skingraft Comics hero. 2.8 12 oz. can from Craft Brewed in Nashville, TN. Pours a semi clear gold color with a white head and very good retention. Spots of lacing. Floral hops aroma. Floral hops taste to match the aroma, with a little juice and almost no wheat ale flavor. Tastes more like a mellow pale ale. Soft bitterness. Crisp mouthfeel and medium body. Okay, but not what I was expecting.
2.7 I poured it from the can into a shaker. It pours a slightly hazy amber with a white head and lacing. The aroma is banana, pepper, and wheat. The aroma is underwhelming and kind of weird. The taste is banana, spice, bread, and slight hops. This was more bitter than expected. I thought this was a bit off. The styles kinda clashed here. It's not bad. It just didn't seem right to me though.
2.8 Bite-y lemon overlaid on wheat's smooth finish. The bite carries over into the finish. Can definitely taste the hops. It is refreshing and the citrus gives it a fizzy feeling - overall too sour for my taste and the sour takes away from the wheat beer taste that I'm looking for in this kind of beer.
3.2 Pours clear golden-amber with a 2-finger white head. Lots of carbonation bubbling. The aroma mixes notes of grain and citrus peel. Medium body with a bit of oil. Finish is long, and a bit dry. Citrusy hop flavor mixed with some earthy yeast. A peppery note of grain follows at the back.
3.5 12 oz can.Light aroma of wheat, banana, and hops. Light orange and clear in color. Nic balance. Getting the wheat without the normal sweetness. The hops are present but not overwhelming. Nice mild finish. Very Crushable!
3.6 12 oz can. Pours a cloudy gold with a fluffy white head. Sweet citrus smells. Nice crisp citrus and pine flavors, well balanced. Mild carbonation and a dry finish. I like it.
3.7 Slight bubblegum aroma with cotton candy like straw body finish has a mild peppercorn and lemon taste.
3.5 Clear golden body with a mid sized vanishing white head. Aroma is floral hops with fruity notes in background (banana). Taste is fruity, spicy. Fruity finish with mild hoppy note. Low body soft carbonation oily texture.
3.7 Can. Malty and hoppy aroma and taste, light citrus fruit and spicy notes, light to medium bitter. Medium body, malty and hoppy bitter finish. Ok.
3.6 Fruit flavors that are very well blended together. This beer has a light body with medium carbonation. Very pleasant. Well done!
2.9 Pours hazy golden with a thick white head. Aroma of citrus and melon. Taste has light lemon notes, peppery, some floral malt. Palate has some more peppery malt, slightly resinous, some must. Wacky.
4.0 Golden color with slight haze. Big, white head. Wheat malt and citrus in the aroma. Well balanced taste with strong malty base and pleasant hoppy bitterness.
2.9 Pours clear amber with a three finger, white head. Aroma is strong hops and light bread. Taste is light caramel, moving to light bread and hops. Finish is caramel and hops.

3.7 Nice lemon citrus tropical hop aroma and flavor with a bready malt base beer. Like a mix between a wheat beer and an ipa. Unique and flavorful beer, but still easy drinking. Bit of a hop bitterness to the finish. And the combo of the lemon citrus hops and bready malt give a bit of an odd aftertaste. Solid beer overall though.
3.4 Can. Pours gold. Bubblegum, grapefruit, tangerine, cereal. Medium body. Decent.
4.2 Really good blend of IPA & weiss. Nice wheat/citrus blend. Like this
3.3 (Can) Lightly hazed orange gold body with small white head and some lacing. Aroma is sweet with wheat, honey, and fruit (orange, lemon, peach); some caramel. Light bodied, light carbonation. Flavor is moderately sweet, caramel notes, fruity peach and apricot with light citrus peel; mineral character; light pine.
4.2 12-ounce can pours a slightly hazy pale gold with a 1" fluffy white head and lacing: Aroma: sour grapefruit, lemon, floral. Flavor: honey, caramel, biscuit, toasted tangerine peels, bread. Mouthfeel: light-bodied with a creamy finish. Imagine this: a lager with flavor! I might even be able to get my Bud-drinking friends to try this craft beer!!
4.9 Another great Three Floyd’s beer. Pushes all the right buttons. Even Ruth likes it. One of Bob’s favorites. It’s sweet, it’s hoppy, and it’s a wheat beer. During the summer it’s a must have. I like it!!
3.0 Ryne & bitter
3.7 Faint malt aromas. Gold and clear in color with great long lasting head. Taste is lightly malty, Light citrus and floral notes, faint pine. Crushabble.

4.2 Thank you Grant for this beer! Aroma: Initially a little bit soapy, with citrus hops. The malts are low providing a nice sweetness and low level of crackers. The citrus hops are slightly earthy and grapefruit. Appearance: Hazy and a pale blonde color with a white head that had a texture of tiny bubbles with a couple small one's also noted. Lacing is good and retention is good, beer is not visible through the top of the head. Flavor: Malty to start, with notes of vanilla icecream, strong citrus hops that quickly fade and the bitterness is mild. The malts provide a lightly toasted bread flavor. Balance is more towards the hop side. Finish is clean. Mouthfeel: Thin body, high carbonation, lowes alcohol warmth noted, Is not creamy, and low astringency from the hops. Is not dry rather leaves a little residual sugars on the tongue. Overall: A very easy to drink IPA that has a nice slightly sweet malt backbone that makes it not bitter and very enjoyable to drink on a hot day.
4.5 Subtle, with wheat at the front and bitter in the back

3.1 (Keg at Publican Tavern, O'Hare airport, Chicago; 28 March 2018) 6-:3:7-:2+:13=3.1 Yellow, with a pleasing head. Aroma is fresh lemons and oranges, including their zest, along with wheat. A chlorophenol hint in the aroma, though vague and intermittent. Some zest, fruity hops, and piney aspect in the taste. A tad sticky in feel - this is not as refreshing as it should be. Good finish, though - the hops come through nicely. Unusually, Phil didn't have this.
3.6 12 oz. can. Canned 08/28/19. Pours a thick, well retained, white head, slight lacing, over a clear dark yellow (SRM 4) body......nose is heavy wheat, bread from malts, light lemon tones from hops......taste is wheat malts, with slight bread notes, dry throughout, finishing with mild lemon notes and light bitterness.....mouth feel, medium light body, no alcohol, moderate carbonation. This meets the style cleanly and nicely with the appropriate hop choice for the fruit notes, creating a pleasant refreshing and drinkable beer for the warm time of year.
