Three Floyds MunsterFest

Three Floyds MunsterFest

A Bavarian-style Oktoberfest bier brewed with the finest Bavarian malted barley, aromatic German noble hops and traditional yeast brewed in strict accordance with the German bier purity law of 1516, the Reinheitsgebot. This rich malty lager is one of the few that remain true to the tradition of fest beers originally brewed to honor the marriage of Prince Ludwig in 1810. We hope you enjoy this fall offering. Es is nicht normal. Prosit."

3.8 Smells rich, malty, reminds me of fall. Good amber color. Tastes malty sweet up front with a hint of spicy German hops late. Good palate. Good representation of the style, I knew 3F wouldn’t disappoint.
3.4 12 oz bottle from jcos. Mostly clear darker orange color, beige head and strong lace. Doughy, with some caramel, toffee, and spice. Bit of earth. Little too sweet, but otherwise tasty. Solid feel. Slightly sticky. Solid overall.
3.2 Draft at Chumley's. Pours a clearish copper with a finger of off-white foam that lingers. Light grass and pepper with sweet malt aromas. More sweet malt on the palate with caramel and faint pepper and hay towards the end. Lingering mild bitterness and toasted caramel malt. Not bad, but a bit too sweet to my liking.
3.7 12 ounce bottle purchased at Archer Liquors by Midway Airport for $2.39 Very good!
3.4 12oz bottle from Three Cellars in the Falls. It has turned to fall, so time to try the yearly Oktoberfest. Pours a very clear amber with a bit of a head. Aroma is fruitier than expected, with lagery notes, light toasted malts, and some breadiness. Taste is of toasted malts, a bit of bread, certainly stone & citrus fruits, and light pine. More 'oranges and nuts' driven than most marzens had to date. Still the lagery is not a fave. Finishes sweetly. Indeed this is quite a bit sweeter than a typical marzen. Shrug? 13.3
3.5 Straight ahead marzen, on the sweet side, I prefer a bit drier but this is well made. Beautiful red/orange/clear.
3.7 I had this at Global Brew. Pours amber with a off white head. Taste malty, sweet, light. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.
3.5 Pours transparent amber with a thick bread like head. Wheaty bread lager flavor that opens up when poured into a glass. ( rather than drinking from a bottle) long yeast bread finish.
4.0 Slightly cloudy deep copper hue under a thin foamy ivory head. Bright toasty biscuit aroma with subtle bready sweetness on the nose. Smooth lagerish flavor that’s crisp and gently sweet, gently biscuity, and full Oktoberfest goodness. Delightful.
3.7 (En fût à Heorot): Typique midwest maltiness avec assaut d'agrumes. Je suis nostalgique soudainement.
2.9 Bomber from the archives, bottled circa 2007. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Caramel malt aroma. Whatever complexity this had when brewed has dissapate with age.
3.9 Bottle pour at home thanks Jon for this one. Nice light body easy drinking golden pour, this is a very solid beer.
3.7 Decent enough of an Oktoberfest beer, but they don't seem to have used much if any Vienna malt. To me, that's a key ingredient of a good fest beer.
3.6 Underrated style of beer especially when done right. Good malt flavor, good balance on the back end.
3.6 amber color; bready, malty aroma; a good, well-balanced Oktoberfest; a decent amount of bitterness with a bready malt background
3.5 Really good october fest. Toasted malt throughout. Nice hope ballance, full body Good through finish.
3.6 Bomber from Whole Foods in Upper Arlington: murky deep amber, off-white head. aroma of light grain, caramel. tastes are toasty malt, bit of apple, honey, earthy, grass, floral, nutty. easy drinking. subtly nice.
3.3 Bottle from trade. Pretty nice for a style I have really really enjoyed only a few of. This is straight forward bread and toffee...well done. Surprisingly not as richly malty as my favorites in style.
3.4 Rusty orange. Straightforward but pleasant aroma of plum, honeyed toast, cookie, hazelnut and hay. Fluffy carbonation. Full body. Punchy Munich gives substantial weight as do plummy esters. Good textural grip to the deep toast, which hints at melanoidins at times and adequately wards off any excessive plummy slickness. Lovely blend of tobacco softness, hay dust and marzipan extends from the well-extracted maltiness. Dab of floral notes adds a refined touch and softens the body. Finishes beefy, fully malty and toasty, with toasted bread and restrained hop spice lingering. A straightforward example, and a tad underattenuated to me, but thankfully it is a serious rendition and not dry-hopped or something silly or Americanized. Pretty easy to like. The $10 price tag is very unreasonable, though. For around $3.00 a bomber, I’d be drinking this again.
3.3 22oz bottle. Bit of banana and sweet malt. It is a bit rich for this style of beer. Not bad.
3.7 Aroma is fruit/berries and malts. The flavor is fruit/berries, malts, mild sweetness and a tart/slightly grainy finish.
3.3 Sweet, malty, spicy hops. Full bodied. Nice! Delicious @ warpigs copenhagen
3.4 From tap at Warpigs. Hazy amber colour with a white head. Aroma and flavour of malt, hops, fruit and caramel.
3.5 Tap @ Warpigs Oktoberfest, Copenhagen 151024. Sweet malty, fruity and hoppy, medium body with an oily texture. The finish is sweet and malty.
3.6 Draught. One lite Mass! Light hazy deep amber liquid with medium to big off-white head. Aroma of floral hops, citrus grain, bread, light toast and earth. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of bread, nuts, toast, floral hops and citrus. Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation. Nice, drinkable and modern. Quite hoppy for a Märzen.
3.2 On tap at War Pigs Oktoberfest. Pours a hazy amber with an off-white head. Sweet and dry with aromas of a pale- and caramel malt mix. Hints of hops.
3.2 Grassy aromas with toasted bread, honey, and caramel too. Taste is straw, honey, toast, and caramel.
3.9 Bottled September 24, 2015 and enjoyed October 18, 2015 in a Paulaner Munchen mug. Look - Dark, murky amber/clay body with a decent light tan head. Head does stick around but blotchy spots on wide surface in the mug. Great lacing. Smell - Honey. Caramel. Malt. Grass. Musty hop. Taste - Honey. Caramel. Pine. Straw. Strawberry. Hops don’t come through. Feel - I fear lighter beers because of the carbonation that comes with them and this is not one to be afraid of. Smooth and medium bodied with no carbonation explosion.
3.7 Pours classic copper colour of Oktoberfest. Aromas of biscuit, bread, caramel malts, slightly sweet, earth and just a hint of resin and hops. Taste has elements of your typical Oktoberfest: caramel and malt, light sweetness, but with subtle piney resin and that note of hops. A nice FFF twist on the traditional Oktoberfest.
3.4 Bottle from brewpub. Pour to tulip, red-copper pour with light head. Rich malt aroma, spice, bread, sweet apricot. Flavor is sweet, lightly spiced, autumn foliage medium body. Solid.
