3.7330 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy deep ruby brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, plum, pear, apple, caramel, toast, brown bread, brown sugar, light chocolate, light nuttiness, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of raisin, plum, pear, apple, caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, light clove, light chocolate, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes od raisin, plum, pear, apple, caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity and solid robustness of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast ester flavors; with a very good malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and lightly slick/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 5%. Overall this is a nice Belgian brown ale. Good balance and solid robustness of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

3.4Draft to taster at Ei8ht Ball. Looks solid; a transparent brown with off-white lacing. Smells and tastes of malt and a bit of dark fruit (fig?). Solid on the palate. Not a traditional brown, but a good one nonetheless.

4.1Amber brown chestnut with a thick, light tan, lacy, lasting head. Smells complex and attractive. Smells of malt and nut with caramel with banana and prunes. Medium creamy body with soft carbonation. Tastes is very satisfying with a decent level of sweetness with nut, caramel and soft spice with a dark fruity finish. Not that much bitterness. Very easy to drink and goes down quickly. I’m starting to like Brown Ales.
3.411.2 ounce bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a clear brownish/red color with about an inch light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. The brew smells like nuts, dark fruit, cloves and a bit of licorice. Taste is pretty much the same as the aroma, but with the addition of some brown sugar and molasses. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit slick and coating with moderate carbonation. Got this one as a single from one of my friends. Not a bad beer by any means, but regardless if this a brown ale or a Belgian dark ale, I like other beers of each style better.
3.5Another one from Ivana Trgovina. Seemed more amber than brown but hey, who cares. Lovely aroma, spicy, fruity, yeasty, light dust, sweet peach, grain. Nice mald sweet malty taste, fruity - jaffa cakes, gummibear, very light rosehip. Extremely light tanginess. Nothing against it.
3.4Nice brown ale. Not very dark as other similar beers. Malty aroma and caramel. Just a little bit watery than others and very good balanced between malts and alcohol. 5% ABV, not so high and not so dangerous.
May be not one of the tops, but very, very nice.
3.6Tilburg's Dutch Belgian "Trappist" Brown Ale - a malty Belgian ale in the Trappiste style, strong vanilla caramel roasted smoothness. Flavorful for a brown ale, light medium body, very drinkable even in summer heat.
3.3Big banana aroma and flavor. Big malt and banana. finishes complex and full. As far as browns go, this one is on the top of my list.
4.00,33l bottle. Brown color. Aroma is caramel, toffee, nuts and toasted malt. Taste is little bit sweet, with caramel and nuts. Very tasty and interesting beer, I recommend it.
3.6Draft at Sourh Street Restaurant, Naples. Pours brown with a thin brown head. Very fruity nose with a bit of that Belgian yeast thing. Fairly fruity on the tongue as well. Finish lingers a bit but is otherwise clean. Interesting take on the style.
3.7Tap - small foamy head, dark brown/amber color, sweet malty aroma and flavor, fair amount of nuttiness, mild aged dried fruity esters, very well balanced
3.6Very much enjoyed this brown ale from the Netherlands. Kind of like drinking a beer version of a Werther’s Original. Malt and caramel steal the show, a tasty treat for sure.
3.4Bottle. This was a bit of a let down. I knew it was a classic of the style. Did not find it that exciting.
3.427/04 A 0.33 l bottle from Ivana trgovina, Split. Hazy brown colored with medium sized off white head. Fine yeasty, caramel and cloves aroma. Flavor was nice sweetish, caramel and dried fruit malty, simple, yet quite pleasant. Quite full in body, cloying and smooth on palate with longer, pleasant finish. A fine one, slightly off topic, I really missed some Belgian style ales on our market and I’m happy to see more and more novelties being offered!
